Bass-Thing

That's sound advice and I was thinking of that. Trouble is it means taking out 14 screws (Including the 2 for the tugbar!!!) which is a bit of an derrière. Anyway I think I've found a p-bass with a tugbar so I'll probably have a tugbar day. I just need to quickly mark the holes and I'm sorted.

Bit of both tbh... Thing is I have a tugbar on my 62 Jazz and it's ideally placed so I'd like to put them accurately on some of my other basses.

I have this very same bass myself! Mine still has the tugbar screwed on though. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine.

Anyone know where I can get tug bar fitting templates for Fender P&J basses?

Does anyone on here remember the Eurotec Transit bass combo. I remember buying one from Macari's in Charing Cross Rd in 1978/9. It was cheap as I remember (about £50) and really very powerful (don't remember how many watts... 50 maybe). I had it for my band at school and I remember the guitarist frequently had to share with me because his amp was rubbish. Can't find any info on them anywhere (have Googled extensively) and would love to know more about them or even better actually get hold of one. I see they occasionally turn up on eBay and Gumtree...

Since joining a 'proper' band earlier this year I have mainly gigged with the following. I alternate between them because we play a variety of musical styles: Fender USA Marcus Miller V Fender Japan 70's RI P-Bass ...However the last gig we played I switched to the following: Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass V Fender Japan Geddy Lee Jazz Bass In all honesty the Squier suited our sound much better than the Marcus (and only cost me £160 as a B-Stock item! ). The Geddy's going to keep the gig for a bit too.

Still enjoying this amazing amp! I see the price is now firmly around the £500 mark but that's still bloody good value.

My main V is a USA Fender Marcus Miller V so it was a no-brainer really.... until I sat down and tried a Squier Deluxe Dimension V in GAK in Brighton (always best to just walk past really! ). Great feel, lovely build quality and superb sound! At £300 though, I was still leaning towards a Sire Marcus V for only a few quid more. Then however I saw a 'b-stock' Dimension V for sale at Bax Shop for £169 so that's what I ended up getting. I will probably still invest in a Sire V7 at some point though...

My Veyron Tube gets gigged for the 1st time this coming Saturday. Up to now it's been brilliant. If anyone could enlighten me as to why it needs a volume knob next to the gain knob, as well as an overall master volume knob I'd love to know. I'm guessing it's for the preamp maybe? As many of you will know the Veyron is a copy of the Genz Benz Streamliner (which had the same volume next to the gain). Anyway the amp has been brilliant in practice and rehearsal so here's hoping it delivers for the gig...

You can all save money and go out and buy one. They remain utterly brilliant amps and they are still relatively inexpensive, though sadly the price goes up as the recently enlightened catch on, so I suggest you be quick. Hope you didn't drop too much cash on your current rig.

I thought I'd post this because anyone who owns either one of these amps or indeed the Ampeg SVT CL (which the Bugera is copied from), might find it useful. I bought the amp last summer online from Woodbrass in Paris. Up until now I have mainly been using it at home for practice and rehearsal. Great amp. Love it to bits etc... Anyway while practicing one day I am suddenly called away for a bit of a domestic emergency. I am usually fastidious about such things but this time I just plonked my plugged in bass onto it's stand and left the house with the 300w valve amp still on and not on standby. When I returned a couple of hours later the amp was still on and you could hear the fan blowing, but it no longer worked and the red fault light was lit. I was abject... clearly all the bad things I'd read on hear about Bugera and Behringer must be true after all I thought!!! (only kidding) Before engaging with the legendary Bugera Customer Services, I had a look online to see if this was something that might be an easy fix. Fair bit on Basstalk (am I allowed to mention them on here? ) but mostly suggesting valve problems/failure etc and of course lots of 'told you sos' from the Behringer haters. These amps have a 3 year warranty so rather than risk voiding it using a local amp tech, I popped it in the post to Music Group in Kidderminster (like you do with a 35kg amp!). They were brilliant. You have to pay to post it to them but they organise the courier for you very cheaply. The courier had been clumsy with it and there was bit of cosmetic damage when they unpacked it, but they fixed this free of charge even though the warranty didn't cover this. It was back with me fully working in less than a week. It sounds better than ever. They told me that the date on the amp indicated it had been on the shelf at Woodbrass for at least 3 years. The fault was 2 fuses inside the amp that had blown and needed changing (fuses 1 & 2). The valves all tested as fine. They advised me in future to leave it on standby for about 5 minutes before using it and this should give everything the chance to warm up properly. They also advised me to put it on standby when not using for long stretches. Anyway hopefully I won't have any more problems and I'm looking forward to using it for a couple of festivals I'm playing later this summer.

Ampeg PF500 with PF210HE. Easily the worst amp I've ever had. It had a good sound but it kept over heating and cutting out. Ampeg customer service were bloody hopeless as well. I tried to have it fixed privately and was told that the build quality was shockingly bad. Ended up selling the amp for parts and repair. Now I use Bugera. Utterly brilliant and I haven't had to remortgage!

I sold it on fairly quickly. Tbh I liked the idea of buying British but I guess you learn some things the hard way...

[/quote] Your quote means stealing so I'm not sure of it's relevance. Copying isn't the same thing, though I imagine if you are being copied it must feel like it is. Music Group is a perfectly legitimate source, in spite of not having a scrap of originality. I've heard great things about your cabs incidentally, but they are out of my price range. What is interesting though, is that there is artistry in work like yours and there will never be artistry in what Bugera does. I think ultimately that art is something people will always be prepared to pay extra for.
