  1. That foam doesn't look up to the job — I'd be surprised if that is all that's holding up the bridge pickup on mine. When I built a bitzer fretless precision about 15 years ago, I cut up a fabric topped neoprene mousemat (50p from ikea at the time) and stuck several layers stacked up to make a firm cushion. It worked like a champ and is still holding up.
  2. Mine's a lot higher than that — I managed to raise my bridge pickup so the string just misses it when playing the highest string on each string. The neck pickup had to be quite a bit lower than the bridge one to match the volumes. I haven't dismantled that part of my bass (yet) so I don't know whether springs or foam are involved to know what's causing yours to not want to raise up.
  3. My bandmates only mention my playing when I play a song without any wrong notes. As far as I'm concerned any right:wrong note ratio of over 0.5 is a win. Life's too short to be in a band with an a-hole. In my previous band it was the drummer and in the one before that it was the second guitarist. In my current band there doesn't seem to be one, so I'm a little worried that it might be me.
  4. Original Thunderbird pickups and modern reproduction versions have bars rather than individual poles like an upscaled version of the firebird pickup.
  5. Even better its Nickel. This is a great price for a vintage pro for someone in that area. My white one came from cash converters (couriered and including an epi hard case) at a price where it was rude not to.
  6. When Gibson can sell Greeny Les Pauls with a Kirk Hammett meet & greet for $50k, and the non-meet & greet version for £20k, why would they bend over backwards to cater for bass players? There are a lot more dentists and lawyers guitarists than bass players who would spend that kind of money on an instrument.
  7. It looks like these will be discontinued once stock runs out — The pelham blue is already showing as discontinued.
  8. Electric Sex Machine — James Brown & Judas Priest
  9. Its a Squier Affinity P Bass with a bunch of changed hardware, painted headstock and added Fender Decal.
