1. For sale: my beautiful custom made CertainBass '61 P-bass funk-machine re-issue. Purchased during a fit of GAS, current hard times now force a sale. I'm reticent to let this bass go because it really is a beautiful machine but alas circumstances dictate. Clearly put together with care, attention and detail with parts sourced for purpose, it absolutely sings acoustically and has a deep vintage growl when plugged in. It really does sound great and certainly does that Motown sound justice. It is in the same great condition as when I purchased a short while back. Specs: Alder body, with the beautifully classic sunburst finish and matching headstock. Seymour Duncan Antiquity 2 P-Bass pickup CTS pots & switchcraft jack Schaller strap-buttons (for schaller straplocks) Tort pickguard 60's spec thick slab rosewood fingerboard on maple neck bone nut (previous owner noticed that the nut is cracked under the D string (although my old eyes can't see this and he noted that while it does hold in with the string tension it will eventually need 'at least' supergluing or at worst 'replacing') Fender style tuners & string tree Fender style bridge Hard shell case I'm willing to throw in a brand new un-opened set of La Bella Deep Talkin' flatwounds too, so couple those with the foam and you've got that James Jamerson Motown sound. The bass was apparently £800 at cost and I paid £500, so with brand new La Bellas and considering it hasn't been out of my room since I'll gratefully accept the same - £500. I'd prefer a collection from London but can arrange a courier.
2. Price drop to £325.00 bump. I can't believe this isn't getting the interest it deserves - it's almost new.
3. I guess this thread was a bit of a rant, so feel free to air frustrations here. I appreciate your points Doddy but we are looking for someone that will enjoy playing music in a hobby band rather than treating it as a job. There is money in it but we don't want that to be the sole motivator. Build it and they will come Kevin Costner
4. Why is it so hard? http://www.gumtree.com/p/community/drummer-wanted-for-ska2tone-covers-band/1008303792 I've also posted on joinmyband and am doing so on partysounds but any other advice please? I know there are a few drummers who lurk around here. Hiding in the bushes etc. So far we've auditioned 5 people. One kept time like a fcuked clock, another had no kit, with the other three breadheads. Tut tut and keep searching?
5. An almost new, no reply and 6 pages down bump!
6. Hi, I now am in possession of two of these great little amps, so am looking to move one on. It is in perfect working order although a bit cosmetically tatty. There is quite a bit of fluffing which is clear from the pictures but i'm sure this could be tidied up a bit if you so desired. There are also two small patches where the material has worn at the back of the amp, from friction of being carried on a trolley. Apart from the cosmetic wear and tear it is a fantastic sounding amp with a great reputation. I'm looking for £425.00, collected in London. Thanks Jamie SPEAKER 1x12" TWEETER piezo BASS REFLEX rear IMPEDANCE 8 ohms SPEAKER POWER HANDLING 400W RMS (AES Standard) AMP OUTPUT POWER 500W @ 4 ohm / 300W @ 8 ohm PREAMP: solid state FREQUENCY RESPONSE 45 Hz to 18 kHz CROSSOVER FREQUENCY 3.5 kHz SENSITIVITY 99 dB SPL WEIGHT 29.3 lbs / 13.3 kg HEIGHT 17 in. / 43.2 cm WIDTH 15.3 in. / 38.3 cm DEPTH 14.1 in. / 35.8cm
7. Hi, Purchased from the marketplace a short while back but it has just sat on my stand and isn't getting any use. Still in absolute mint show room condition. Looking for £325 - this is an absolute bargain so no offers please. Prefer collection in London but can arrange delivery. 8. Purchased Andy's CertainBass '61 P-Bass. Excellent communication over some frustrating courier issues but bass has now arrived. Well packaged, in described condition and sounds great! I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Andy again in the future.
9. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
10. Just purchased a Schecter bass from Gary. It plays lovely and just was as described. Easy transaction with a nice guy. Deal with confidence.
11. Purchased a Squier CV bass from Andy. Arrived next day as promised and in the condition expected. Have no worries in dealing with this forumite.
12. Forgetting where the notes are / forgetting how the songs go. I get this feeling before every gig. 9 times out 10 it all clicks into place once the music starts and on the occasion it doesn't I just fudge through it. I get the obligitory 'death stare' from the vocalist but the audience don't ever seem to notice. It's all about nerves and they'll calm down the more you get used to the siuation. Good luck and enjoy!
13. Hahaha I think I play ok but I find there's not so much clarity as I go further up the neck on the JetKing. I've had worse problems in my life than GAS so hopefully I can deal with it. (They all say that eh!). I've sent a PM for the Stingray
14. Thanks Clarky, yeah I am sticking with the two-tone band so I'll take your advice re: the Jazz. My budget is over the £500 threshold so I could bid for the Stingray or Precision. I'll take a serious look at both I guess. Donnyboy - for a cheap guitar; I think I paid about £160, the JetKing plays pretty good. I'm no expert at all but I've also got a squire P-bass and much prefer the JetKing. Thanks everyone else. It just goes to demonstrate the breadth of taste eh.
15. I'm really looking at a 4. I've never played a 5, it's a temptation but I should stick with a 4 for my first step in GAS. I'm currently playing an Ibanez JetKing in a two-tone covers band, so anything would be a step up really. I'm seriously looking at the 62 Fender Jazz RI but just can't decide eeeekkk
16. Yeah sorry the BC Marketplace. I'm looking to buy and am torn between a few. It's my step into a serious guitar and I'm not sure which way to turn
17. to buy any bass available on the marketplace right now which would it be? Vent that GAS
18. Welcome Kai. You've stumbled across a nice site.
19. If only you were willing to post, I'd be very interested.
20. Thanks guys, I knew it was somewhat dubious. I found this other bass on ebay too but I'm such a GAS newbie I think I'll stick to buying through this site. For £180 it must surely be a copy like the advert suggests may be the case. I'm far from knowledgeable about this so would really appreciate a view; without being gazumped
