    Imho, you're in the dreadful zone of the 'entry-level' instruments. Fretless is a different playing experience. If you love it, you'll want to upgrade immediately. If not, you've spent too much money anyway. As with fretted, the body shape, neck, action, pickups, fingerboard, etc play a big part. Depending on the bass, you'll be almost forced to have flatwound strings. I for one hate the 'woody' feeling of say a rosewood f'board on fretless, and I hate flats. Others hate 'artificial' f'boards. I'd say try as many as you can first, see if you're comfortable. In the UK you guys are lucky to have many decent dealers. Maybe the fretless for you is an Ibanez GWB. Maybe a jazz type. Maybe you'll find it so awkward that you'll drop the whole idea. But don't do that based on a Harley Benton bought online. Chances of success are minimal, and you'll never know why.

    Hi all Reluctant sale, but a couple of my basses have to go... This is a Marleaux Consat special edition made for Spanish dealer Doctorbass. It is essentially a bolt-on Consat Custom, but without top wood, and with a rosewood fretboard instead of ebony, all of which helps make it more affordable, but with the same quality, tone and finesse of a Custom: pickups, electronics, hardware, neck... This is the lightest bass I've ever owned, weighs next to nothing. Punchy, articulate and modern tone with *absolutely* silent 3-band preamp, active/passive switch. No difference in volume between passive and active modes, unless you really crank the active eq up. The bass is finished in 'antique brown' which I personally find beautiful. It feels very compact, with a slim body and fast neck - top notch build quality. It is in MINT condition - no dings, scratches, nothing. Exactly as new. Shipping with UPS included in the price, will also include the excellent, original Marleaux 'soft rigid' case. I really loved the concept of this bass - a Consat Custom that you are not afraid to take out of the house! I'm after an(other) ACG so trade possibilities are very limited, but asking does no harm.     Hi all For sale my Burns Marquee - essentially an excellent strat type with a lovely fretboard and a more substantial feel than your average Fender. The PUs are very quiet and fatter than vintage strat types. The second tone pot is push pull to activate the neck pickup in any position of the 5-pos blade switch. Excellent condition, just one small ding on the headstock and one even smaller near the rear strap pin (both pictured), gold hardware slightly tarnished. Will take paypal. Shipping included.
