1. Hello, very interested, not great at these forams. Can I contact direct?
2. A beautifully made instrument by Colin Cross in 2008 - The instrument is in top condition and looking amazing having recently been professionally cleaned and polished by Koplin Violins of York. I had the bass for sale a few years ago, then began to use it much more! Open to serious offers. If you'd like to try it set up with particular strings, please get in touch. The Instrument features 3/4 size flat back bass. A 39 inch stop length for tremendous ease in left hand playing. Irving Sloane Machine Heads, the finest geared machines in the world. Very slender shoulders for easy access to the high register. A truss rod in the neck for extra support. A slim neck for left hand comfort. Highly figured seasoned flamed maple for superior tone, and an ebony fingerboard. The sound of this bass is exceptional, with very deep rounded growling low notes and excellent clear high notes, with all registers speaking very quickly and clearly due to the flatback. It has played in well and has been used on an extensive number of gigs and on a wide variety of music. This would make an ideal instrument for a soloist in either jazz or classical music due to the combination of rich tone and the speed and ease with which it can be played through the entire register. It would also suit someone with smaller hands or anyone who feels that they “fight” with a larger bass. This bass produces a loud and full sound without having to have a high action, and is very easy to intonate accurately on. LOB (length of back) - 108cm (42.5in) Width across upper bouts - 47.75cm (19.5in) Width across middle bouts - 35cm (13.75in) Width across lower bouts - 63cm (24.75in) Depth of lower ribs inc both plates - 19.8cm (7.8in) String length - 99.1cm (39in) Price - £12,000 ono. Feel free to come and try in out in person in York - call 07773 799763

5.
"The time will come when the 1999/2005 Fender US basses are revered as some of the best Fender made."
Why? What happened in to lift quality in that period?
6. Hi Alex, I'm in York. Not sure what it would cost to post, but £160 for the amp packed and insured post would do it. Regards, Christian
7. For Sale and almost new Ampeg PF350 Head. I bought this to cover when both my amps went down and were away for repair. Now everything as it should be so its surplus to requirements. Very small and light. 8. Anyone know Nigel Slee? great Leeds Bass Player. Used to cycle around leeds in all weather, up and down hills with his double bass strapped to his back. This bass for sale is a bargain.....it really is exceedingly loud!!!
9. I recommend taking Clarky's advise. You are about to embark on a fantastic and fun journey playing the double bass. What you need to avoid is buying a cheap new instrument, which will be poorly set up and instantly loose lots of value - Even if you spend a little more and get a good Stentor Student model at around £1500, there will be more to spend in setup and more to loose if you don't get on with it. Besides, I know thisnameistaken, in fact I think I found him that bass!! He is something of a perfectionist when it comes to Bass setups, and this bass has been through the workshop of Chapel Allerton stings (and excellent luthier in Leeds), and sounded great last time I heard it. It previously belonged to the fantastic Paul Baxter (Eyes Tight Shut) - Ready to go, no mucking about and a steel at £500 - the price you'll probably get when / if you move to another instrument No I'm not on commission! Would hate to see a new upright player spend more than needed to get up and running. Good luck

11. I bought this bass a few years ago on account of it being so light weight. I was doing lots of travelling on a bicycle from school to school teaching. I am no longer doing that, so it just hangs on the wall. These basses were built in Japan....I don't know why they stopped making them, but they are generally considered to be a lot of bass for not much cash. The bass features A great sound (if you like that 80's 90's punchy jazz bass like sound) A very fast and slim neck Good quality hardware and pickups Very light weight (approx 7lbs) Active electronics with treble and bass boost The bass has a few knocks and dings which I have tried to picture. Missing a knob which I will replace. Currently strung with Didario Flats. I have always thought better suited to the taller player (which I am not) on account of the very small body which makes the neck stick out further to the left. Anyway, there it is. A perfect little slap funky machine for somebody. Im in York if you would like to try it. 12. Yes, I'll get some pics up. I need to move the bass on in any case. I'm going to list it separately for £180 If you think it might suit your needs, I'd do the bass + £100, each to sort out postage. Good luck either way, Cheers, Christian
13. I bought these strings only last week. Its a combination I always have liked with something softer on the D and G. I assumed I would like that characteristic growl on a large french bass recently acquired! I was very wrong, the tension completely choked the instrument and I hated them, so they came straight off again! Effectively brand new - if you are reading this, you know what they are like. I'm asking £60 for the pair which includes posting to UK. Cheers, Christian
14. Hi, I am very tempted to invest. I love these basses - recently got an american special and have set it up for purpose. I'd would love a second with alternative set up. I was over at Harrogate playing Charlie's place the other day - had I seen this earlier, I'd have been in touch to drop in and have a look. Will consider the coffers !!! and get back to you. If I'm too late, my loss...... Bump!!!!
15.
Hi Christian, I've had your number passed to me on several times but I don't think we've met yet. I'm just down the road from you in Harrrogate, maybe we should meet up sometime. cheers Keith
Hi Keith, Yes, be great to hook up sometime. I see you have a Ten2 and a GK 150s going. Why is that, not your bag? I have recently got hold of a twin channel coda, fantastic for upright. Tempted by your 150s as mine at 20 years is starting to fade I was in your neck of the woods the other day playing at "Charlie's Place". Nice venue, had a good time. Are you ever over York way? Cheers, Chrstian
