  1. I finally had the chance to play one of these this weekend... what a cool little bass. Posted in the Wanted section but thought i'd mention it here just in case anyone is looking to move one on!

  2. I also love the Rumble 500... I did move to a Rumble 800HD and 210 cab, for two reasons: 1, so i could use the head with my bigger cabs when wanted, and B, because the DI on the 500 is affected by the master volume, which it isn't on the 800. Worth knowing going in! The speakers really evolve once played in, I found both sounded a little tight when new, and opened up considerably.

  3. If you do decide to go down the Fender 810 route Absolute Music in Bournemouth have an Ex-Demo one that could probably be negotiated on. I have one here too and would always be happy for you to try it if down my way. I promised myself I could have an 810 as long as I never need to ask for anybody's help with it, and i can easily handle it by myself. The Bassman head is probably more awkward!

  4. Sonic Research Turbo Tuner mini may be slightly smaller than the PT mini? Really great! Honestly you can't go wrong with the Polytune mini though. Preferred it to the Pitchblack mini when I had both.

  5. Tom & Will Double Bass Bag... here's the info from them! £240 includes UK Postage.

This bag is really great, and I've not found anything I prefer. However, my bass is a small 3/4 and I've managed to find something that's a tighter fit and therefore easier to move around. I doubt it'll last as long though!

I would say the Tom & Will sizing suits the larger 3/4 scale basses like some of the old German ones I've tried belonging to members of this forum. Well padded, handles galore and plenty of pockets for accessories. Zips seem made to last.

Only showing a bit of wear on one of the lower corners, shown in the photos. Collection welcome.

  6. Ultimate Support AX48 Stand with all the trimmings... this bundle was about £240 when I last checked, and only seems to be available for more as individual parts now.

Everything folds away into the stand for portability. Extremely stable for smaller synths and larger stage pianos.

Stand was a pre-covid purchase so hasn't seen a whole lot of use at all, a few scratches here and there. The included bag is showing signs of wear at the ends as they always do. Also comes with the Mic Stand attachment as shown in the photos.

Collection from Bournemouth preferred (I do travel a bit so feel free to ask). I do have the original box so postage is a possibility, but it's length makes it quite awkward I'd imagine!

  8. I'm considering trying the Yamahiko at some stage, although i've been happy with the Full Circle so far in a mix. Here's a shot of the Bartlett in place. I like the ease of use, no faffing with stands/clamps etc.

If you are looking for something budget friendly to fill the Schoeps role, I can highly recommend the Line Audio CM4. I use it for recording all the time, and have used it live in very low volume environments!

  9. I've had mine around 4 years now... I must say that the new insert that is available (and i think stock on the current model) makes this case far more useful. I do alot of supports, and quick in and out gigs, and usually don't change basses often during a set, so this really hits the spot. Far easier than carrying two cases around for me, and i never have to worry about my instruments at all.

  10. Hey @bassadder, certainly not 'better' as all the mics you mention sound fantastic... just the nature of where it's designed to be placed means more signal over bleed from other instruments, and it's EQ'd to work in the spot. I find any other mic in the same place needs a large dose of low cut to work, usually to the point where there's not much use. In my own situation the DPA/Nadine are just not capturing enough bass vs ambience to give me any benefit, and whilst the Bartlett is far better in that regard I can't seem to stop certain band members firing very loud wedges directly at my bass which makes the whole thing unviable anyway! Hope this makes any sense...

The CMC6 is a dream mic, but honestly I can't see that working live for me either.

I'll try to get a photo of it in place later!

  11. 2020S Steel-Core Instrument Transformer

Now discontinued, the Lightning Boy 2020S replicates to a degree the effect of the transformer on my large Cali76, which I love having in a loop even if not using the compressor. The LB is a little subtler (being passive), but does bring back some of the magic i miss without the cali, and with a bit of boost ahead of it things got very similar indeed. The more signal into it, the stronger the effect! £95 posted in the UK

  12. Bartlett Double Bass Microphone

Specially designed and EQ'd to sit in the soundhole without producing a dominant low end, I've had this for a few months and used with the Felix above. Definatley the most giggable mic option i've tried so far over the DPA, Nadine etc. That said, our stage volume is ridiculously loud and I'm giving up on the notion I can make any mic work! This came to around £250 after postage and customs, I'm seeking £150 Posted

Andy's wife is dealing with terminal illness at the moment, touring all cancelled and a very stressful time. May have a part to play!
