Some P-Pickup action for anyone scrolling down here...

I've got a thread on here for my Synth Bass stuff, but recently i've decided to dig a little deeper into some of my favourite bass tracks, both Electric and Synth. Partly to keep me in playing shape, largely as a project to keep me sane! It also encourages me to get to know the quirks of the basses I have here a little better. I'm trying to keep everything under a minute, which is a fun arrangement exercise!
I've been refreshing myself on the Beatles catalogue recently so here's a few starters... Vimeo seeing as Youtube instantly blocked these! If anybody wishes to delve into my past stuff here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/paddyblight

Nope not yet, was hoping to this year but, erm... you know! They have some in stock at the bass gallery in Camden by the looks of it?

I have the MK11 and really like it. Have not tried the new version but 3 leaf updates their pedals alot. Nothing wrong I guess but it always makes you want the new version. In a live situation its hard to say one is better than the other when you have the newer OC-5 and the very impressed EBS studio octave model. But there is something about the older OC2. The 3 leaf MK11 and Im sure the MK3 get very close.
Like the Apple of OC-2 clones...
I'm still sorely tempted but i've seen a few shots of the new ones having some fairly major cosmetic issues, labelling coming off and the finish tarnishing very quickly. I'd rather wait and see a few batches and some gig-time down the line before dropping that kind of money!- 1

The KK Baby Basses could be a bet too. Perfect sound for more Latin styles, I'd happily use one for function work. Prices a little cheaper than some of the options here, and a few different models available.

I have a feeling my OC-2 has been modded to run at full volume with 9V. The common issue seems to be that the originals were designed to run at 12v (ACA adaptor) so for most people they lack volume.

I’ll comment more when I’ve put out the full video, but I’m definitely rethinking which one goes on my board from the collection. 6 great pedals but I’m developing a clear favourite. Trying to get across the feel and ‘subby’ness is tricky!

Here we go... whilst waiting for the MXR to arrive I've put together a little Boss Blind Test shootout! I'd love to hear what you thought before the reveal!
Going to film the 6-pedal test over the next few days, so any feedback/requests very welcome, I want them to be as useful and representative as possible. Trying to keep the playing simple, and there's no EQ/compression going on at all.
Edit... for the Sub only settings the OC-2 is maxed, and the OC-5 at about 2 O'Clock. Both pulled back a little alongside the dry signal.

If anybody fancies sending any of these over... ! There's always opportunity for round 2 anyway!

I managed to find a VBO for sale, so it's a nice bunch for the shootout! I've been getting familar with all of them over the last few days, it's been very interesting. I swear my favourite changes on an hourly basis! Initial thoughts on the OC-5 are that it's very impressive!

SE Electronics reflection filter for guitar/bass amps, vocals, anything that needs a little more isolation! Has own stand or can be mounted on a mic stand. Bought for touring this year and never used outside of the home studio in the end, where i've just built an Iso booth. Can mount one Dynamic-style mic and another from the hanging bracket. All boxed, postage to the mainland UK included. A tidy solution!

@Mikey D You might be thinking of the COG T16/T47?
-
@Quatschmacher epic! Could deffo get away with that in a Band context. Have long been trying to cop the Rhodes Bass sound too, which is close to this. Fancy sharing?

@mr zed legend!

So my OC-2 came home, and sure enough i can't find an OC-5 in stock anywhere for the comparison! Still working on it @Quatschmacher!

I had a PPL cheque for a whopping £1.70 this summer so somewhere at some point someone is playing something i worked on....
Last time i did a live broadcast for Radio 2 things couldn't have gone more wrong, glad those are wiped from the iplayer now!

@Quatschmacher nope, none about until January-ish! But i do have a Mk 2 on my desk right now!

Touring in the EU

It's more half the UK wanting it's cake, and the other half eating it. I'm not sure calling musicians who are at this point battered and bruised from the toughest of times pathetic for doing anything they can to just try and keep some hope is the most appropriate response on a forum about music...
I agree that the EU has absolutely no obligation to help us, but you have to realise that the vast majority of signees didn't want any restrictions either way from the start!
