6. Played on a stage overlooking a wave pool at some water park near Barcelona a few years ago with a big band. Absolutely horrific, we were a little unprepared to be fair, all we had to go on for the size of the stage were photos (and it turned out to be around the size of the main stage at a major festival), PA and amps weren't anywhere near loud enough and you couldnt hear yourself play. Audience seemed to enjoy it though and we got free entry to the water park after so cant complain to much!

9. Yeah I think that was a seven string, perhaps a couple too many for me...
10. May end up buying one then! Woodster how much did shipping and import tax come to on yours?
11. Just come across these while having the standard GAS attack. Anyone ever tried or seen one of these in the flesh? Specs look great and pretty good value for money once you convert the price (Of course have to factor in shipping and import tax but still potentially a good deal).
12. This could be something along the lines you're thinking?
13. Hi Alan, I've just noticed that whilst drooling over your website for the past half an hour. You may get an email from me soon with a few more enquiries. Cheers
14. Cheers, Used to have a Cort A6, really well made bass and played great, I just didnt really get on with any of the electronics though. And certainly been looking at G&L stuff too, although not a massive fan of MM style humbuckers After a bit more shopping around i've come across the ACG Graft J type 5 strings, not active but i'd certainly be willing to forgive for one of those. Wonder if anyone has any experience with these?
15. Hi there, On the fretted side of my basses I currently use a modded Squier VM Jazz and a Yamaha TRB1006. I'm looking to cut this down to one bass that sort of combines elements of the two as I cant really ever justify taking both to gigs but I always want to use both. So basically, a 5 string, active but with a passive switch, two pickups are a must and all that sort of stuff. Looking at the price range of around £700-£1000 and ideally looking for second hand. Been looking at your typical active 5 string USA Jazz and also Lakland 5 string jazzes, also the higher end ibanez SR basses. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for basses that fit these parameters that I may have overlooked. Cheers
16. Cool, very Snarky Puppy-esque
17. Monster tone. This bassline was one of the things that got me into bass. Remember trying to recreate this tone with my first squier affinity and crappy little fender amp, good times.
18. Thanks for all the advice guys, very helpful. I think im just going to wait it out for the time being and see if a great deal comes my way, not really in a great hurry and wanting one is probably half down to GAS anyway. Cheers!
19. I did notice a pretty strong likeness in them, didnt realise it was that close! And they are much easier to get hold of
20. Damn, I didnt even know about the midlands bass bash. Unfortunately at uni elsehwere so cant go. And yeah I know I wont be getting a real upright sound, but just need something ballpark really. Cheers for the advice
21. Hi there, I'm seriously considering getting an EUB, I play in a couple of big bands, jazz quartets and pit bands every now and then. And I really think that double bass sound would go a long way. Before anyone says, no I'm not considering a genuine DB, i'm a student with limited space, limited funds and no car! So this EUB will most likely have to be sub £500. The ones i've been considering are the obvious choices of the stagg and the Palatino VE-500, then theres the NS Design WAV4 and perhaps even the Harley Benton one (though I dont know much about that). I'm looking for the jazz upright sound, but something that will be able to produce a decent arco sound too. Anyway if anyone has any advice/experience on where to go here and which of these options you think is best (maybe including mods to whichever bass) then it would be much appreciated. Cheers!
