1. So far, I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a "cool" acrylic bass...
 2.
Delighted to hear the pickup fits. These are surprisingly common on early 70s MIJs (Ps, Js, EB copies, Rick copies - you name it...) and frequently aren't working. Really good to have it confirmed there's a drop-in alternative. J.
You saved me probably £40 on buying any I'd found so I'm pleased. Looks the part too, a little shiny but its covered anyway. All wired up and screwed down, having a bit of trouble with the knobs spinning on the pots as the pots are a bit of a weird size. Ended up buying some mxr pedal knobs to use as apposed to the 61 reissue ones I had bought earlier. The pots are quite long and seem to pull up when tightening on the knobs. Managed two but the last one is causing a struggle.
 3.
Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts to get what you want. I haven't seen Harley Benton doing a bass VI style bass. There is the Revelation bass VI which is a bit cheaper than the Squier and also appears to have a longer scale length. There are some Harley Benton traditional six string basses, but I don't remember seeing any deko examples of them being sold. At least for a long while.
I like the revelation but its still more than I would like to spend on a whim. I'll keep trying on the Deco and hope that some interesting basses come my way haha. Anyone else have any luck yesterday?
 4.
Keep this thread updated please Coldflows. I'd love to see this bass back up and running and being used again.
Will do my best. Its nearly all here, all I need to do is sort the wiring and repair the bridge. Still torn about the bridge cover, the short one I have looks good but I'd prefer a full one, and I can't find any reasonable ones of the age that aren't fender. You'd think with everyone removing them there would be a surplus.
 5.
What models did you get? There were a couple of dekos this morning, but nothing that stands out as interesting and no basses that I noticed. (I"m not online all the time, it just seems like it ). There's still a cheap classical guitar available. http://www.thomann.de/gb/startone_cg_851_4_4_deko.htm
Left handed tele and one of the cheap acoustics. At the end of the day a left handed tele neck is worth more than thirty quid so I thought I'd give it a go. Really envious of whoever got the 50s p bass. Edit: Received an email saying the left handed tele is unavailable so my order is on hold. I cancelled the overall order as the postage and the acoustic would have been a tad too much. Will keep trying till I get myself some cool basses. Do they do a bass VI ?
 6. The antoria pickup FINALLY turned up. Many thanks to bassassin as it fits perfectly. Will hopefully have a look at the wiring over the weekend and free the blooming saddle. It's coming together folks.
 7. Just managed to order a couple of guitars for £30/delivered so I'm hoping next time I'll find a bass. Would be interested in the program if you do decide to make it available.
 8.
Yep. I was refreshing the page until 20 past, just to make sure they didn't add things
Does anyone know who got that jazz bass? I'm jealous.
 9. So use a PC and keep refreshing at 11pm. This is turning into a proper game.

 11.
Might be engineered from 2 or 3 chunks of basswood - anyone ever done this? What does it look like?
I found a thread on it, give me a second and I'll pop a link in. Here you go. http://www.squier-talk.com/forum/squier-bass-place/62106-vm-telecaster-bass-refinishing-project.html
 12.
I thought about replacing the bridge, but doubt if there is a drop in replacement available for the mounting holes. Heaviest bbot I've ever seen though. Yes colour options are a bit bland. Main reason I got it was the 32 inch scale and the P-like neck. Short scales seem to be smaller nut size. Also have a HB shorty P which is also a wide neck
I'm not too worried about the mounting holes, the bridge seems a bit modern for the styling. Maybe I will strip it down and wax the wood.
 13.
@Coldflows - the basses appear to be solid bodies. Some of the guitars that were taken to bits over on thefretboard (thanks Andy for recommending that thread) had more ... interesting construction under the finish. E.g. solid body but a wood grain sticker over a thin MDF top.
Brilliant, i can strip that, I have had les Paul copy's with a similar type. Thanks.
 14. I'll take your advice and wait and see what I can find. Are the Harley Bensons solid body or are they ply? Obviously there are a lot of different ones.
 15. So how often do they update? When is the best time to check the page? I fancy me a pbass project to add to.my list of things I'll never finish.
 16. Brilliant, I'm jealous. I dont think I have anything that would pip your interest and I haven't got half a grand laying around so I guess its just good luck with the sale! And again. Awesome bass...
 17.
Another Squier Telebass. Slightly modified: additional volume pot one for each pickup, chrome knobs replaced with black (never liked chrome!), 3 way Tele switch rewired as a two position high pass filter on the bridge pup. (thought original wiring was a bit 'muddy' on the neck pup). TI flats.
Looks like there is a few of them around. What do you think of the bridge? Its a bit chunky for a tele I think. Makes me want to change the paint job.
 18. Is the bridge original? Its a cool looking bass man.
 19. image hosting site over 5mb My squire telebass, just got the bridge cover which doesn't fit so its pretty low down.
 20. It looks on some of the pictures to have a weird output. Is it a normal 6.5 jack? http://static.bax-shop.nl/image/product/179105/363229/27c312c5/450x450/Sandberg_Forty_Eight_4_hardcore_aged_metallic_red_detail_2.jpg
 21.
That depends on how good you are at drilling - don't try it if all you have is a Dremel or a wobbly Black & Decker. However, if you have a pillar drill & vice it might be worth a go (but the saddle must be absolutely perpendicular) - if at all possible drill a very small hole right down the middle & then go up to the next size. Repeat but stop short of drilling the screw right out & leaving the hole smooth and bereft of threads (as then you'd have to tap it for a new & bigger thread). It **might** then be possible to collapse the remains inwards (hammer & small screwdriver) & get it all out. If you're really lucky the heat of the drilling will free the screw and it'll wind out on its own. Alternatively drill all 8 saddle screws out to the same dimension & re-tap the lot to take new screws. One thing I'd (personally) try before that is to **really** get some heat in there. Wait until the Mrs goes out and bake it for 30 mins in the oven at 250C & then plunge it into cold water. That might cause enough thermal shock to get it moving. If it doesn't, hit it with a gas blowtorch & quench. The downside to this is that there's a very good chance that you'll knacker the chrome plating.
I have some decent tools but no pillar drill. I may try baking it, its really stuck. I may also try the hot air gun again and ice water. As for the other bridge the actual string is off center so I dont think even the stingray size would fit it. Its about 8mm smaller than the smallest spare bridge I have, I thought jazz profile necks where normally wider?
 22.
How much thread have you got showing on the other side (i.e. bearing on the baseplate)?
Next to none. I have now sawed a flat head into the largest one and left to soak overnight in wd40 but its not budging. If I drill it out will I wreck the saddle?
 23. So after waiting and waiting and several attempts at removing the stuck saddle post I brought a bridge which I assumed would be pretty close being of a similar age but alas when it arrived the slot to hold the string in place is too far over by around 2mm so I'm still stuck. Still waiting on the artec pickup from China. images hosting I have heated and froze and wd40d it, what would be the next move as I cannot find a matching saddle for love nor money? Thanks again guys.
 24.
Bassballs - 'Lovefool' The Cardigans Just because it gave me an excuse to buy one. Just need to introduce Sir Psycho Sexy into the set list now.
+1 for bassballs but I think its actually a classic qtron in sir psycho sexy. I admit its the only time I brought a pedal because of a song rather than I liked its sound.
