1. I had one of these cabs in original form from the 70s. It sounded alright but weighed as much as a small car...
2. Thanks! I need a used set of flatwounds for one of my basses (it's from the 60s so I think it sounds better with well worn ones!)
3. Are the statuses still available? Im happy to make a donation :-)
4.
Interesting. Old 70s/early 80s one-off or bitsa, and that would make it pretty much a cert that the pickups will be DiMarzios. Betweem them, the Schaller 3D bridge & the Ibanez Hercules tuners, it's worth more than £100 in parts. Buy it!
+1 looks like a great one to part out. The body is pretty interesting in its own right and you could fit a fair few different necks in (if its normal scale length)! Cool!
5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
6. Does that logo look strange to you? It has a weird shadow around it, like a waterslide transfer...
7.
I know him as well - great guy. As Coldflows said RARE. Took me several years to pick a good one. Really interesting thing to own, look at and play! http://flatericbassa...w-mpc-x620.html http://flatericbassa...ss-part-ii.html
How many of the modules have you got? just the two that you use? Frog nose sounds very interesting...
8. This is at the top of my list to find one of. But as Jon Said they are rare as hens teeth in the uk and Im yet to see one in the wild :-(
9.
It looks like a solid-state amp, especially if it has a heatsink on the back. Does it come on immediately when you switch it on? Valves would take 30 seconds or so to start making sound.
It takes a few seconds but not as long as the valve heads i have had. I tried to take some photos of the inside but not had any luck. Il try again and if i get anything il pop the pictures up :-) Edit: Can't get a picture of the inside as I don't want to take it all apart. Here's the heat sink: Edit 2: Definitely solid state opened it all up and frankly you could fit all the parts in a head 1/3 the size! Guess it must get hot so lots of air space. Bits of handwriting on some of the parts but no dates as far as I can see.
10.
I've seen the Custom Sound Trucker combos, and I guess this is the same company. The trucker combos were quite cheap SS combos made in England, and the ones I've come across never sounded great. I suspect the Fane might not be original to the cab, as it wouldn't have got scratched up on the back like that bolted into a closed-back cab.
I thought that might be the case with the speaker, but it definitely looks the right age. Nothing on the speaker to date it either which is annoying. The only amps i have seen in the brand are trucker solid state heads and cub combos which look like roland cube copies. Im thinking from the font this could well be older, i cant get inside the head to see if there are any valves but there are very large heat dissipation plates on the back of the head.
11. I have a decent (and about 1/4 the weight) set up so as much as i like the tone I don't plan on keeping it very long! Just trying to fathom out what age and if its worth anything :-) Always more fun to know an items story!
12. Hello! Today's car boot sale find is a Vintage Custom Sound V Bass Head and Cab. It has a 15" Fane speaker and I have no idea what else. It works and has a nice tone to it but really needs a clean. Does anyone have any idea who made it, what wattage etc and how much it's worth? Cheers! Ben
13. It is quite expensive. I think its about the third time they've listed it too. Its a shame as id love one to add to my odd vintage Japanese guitars collection. Supposed to sound quite nice with the odd P pickup configuration near the bridge :-)
14. It could be one of these? JV Contemporary. PJ555 http://www.21frets.com/squier_jv/images/domesticjv/13.jpg
15. I'd anyone is interested the Sanox Sound Creator guitar is back up for sale, this time on auction starting at £100. Might be good for someone! Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272289378280
16. Well if the bass is anything to go on the guitar will be rather special. I finished repairing the bass earlier this week and strung it up with a set of old flatwounds I had. It not only sounds great but is very easy to play, apart from the fact the body is so slim that it neck dives instantly. I am so pleased! 17.
Oh god, don't! Must. Not. Buy. Guitar.
I was like that. if it was the same price as the bass id have brought it the second I saw it!
18.
Only ever seen one other sanox besides that one, it was a guitar though but still called sound creator, if memory serves the logo was green , a mate got it second hand when we were at high school getting on for 20 years ago now, but it was already pretty old then. Same funky shape,in sunburst but no pickguard and 2 humbuckers which looked like the old cream dimarzios, headstock face was black too, seemed pretty well made and sounded decent as far as I recall, no idea what happened to it though.
I have seen one on ebay that might be close : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sanox-Sound-Creator-/272254332369?hash=item3f639f6dd1:g:5uoAAOSw2GlXHfTZ Is that what his looked like? i think it looks really cool. In other news: The missing ferule has been replaced very kindly by Bassassin. A true hero of japanese basses! Will get it set up and strung then il take some better photos! Looking to be a keeper to me!
19. I don't honestly blame him but it is a bit cheeky. Thats a £90 mark up for a deco which is a little steep. Now doing the maths i can see that you could buy the brand new ones shipped from Thomann for half the price of some of them which is a little crazy!
20.
That's really cool for a P derivative! I've seen the Sanox name before but they're not too common. Got an idea it's a EU importer brand name & they were probably made in various different factories, Unlikely it's from the "Fender Factory" (which would've been Fujigen at that time) but not impossible. At least they didn't say the "Ibanez Factory". Might have a ferrule like that, I'll have a dig around. Do you have the others & the missing tuner? Jon.
I had a dig and noone seems to know very much. Seems they turned up in America too. The body is very interesting as it has such an unusual shape. I also couldn't find any other brands with the same body shape which is unusual for lesser Japanese brands I think. Yes, I have the machine head and all the other parts. It needed a repair to the back of the headstock which I have done now so it's just the one ferrule missing. I can send some more measurements. If you have one that would be awesome!
21. It's very light and comfy as the body is so small in comparison to the neck. Sounds pretty good too! I think it's the lovechild of a P bass and a BC rich haha!
22. Hello! Found another bargain bass made in japan and was hoping someone has some info on it, seems like they where pretty scarce. Previous owner said it was made in the fender factory but I'm doubting it. Any help would be greatly appreciated identifing it and I am looking for the one missing string ferrule if anyone has one? pic host image hosting site over 5mb imgurl Hopefully someone can help (I'm guessing bassassin will know something!) Thanks guys!
