2. Hey guys. Just got this through the post from a lovely chap in america. A Japanese NJ Ironbird. It's a lovely red one Sparkle finish, A couple of dings but cmon its an old ironbird Goes well with my Black Mk2 US one. Plus i got a hardcase with this one. So that makes 2 IB hardcases. The pickup config makes the bass sound growly as hell. Both pups are on all the time. I think i might install a 3 way though. The Gold hardware is pretty worn from the years of playing so i may end up changing it out for some newer gold hardware. There is a slight kink in the neck on the bass side around the 5th or 7th fret and makes alot of fret noise all over the board around that area. But i am ironing it out as we speak. So as soon as the pink eagle necks been completely sorted, I can finally take a Family pic Cheers kev! Much appreciated. Rob. PS: I had to pay 77 quid for import tax
  3. I want the spector soooo bad. Damn the synchronicity connection.
  4.
Picked up a Peavey 2x10 from Rob and had an inspiring few minutes playing his BC Rich (which model was it again Rob?) and was astounded to find out that Bernard Edwards was a BC Rich user too! Top bloke, nice geckos, cute rats.
Thats the Custom shop eagle
  5. Steve came over mine just today and bought my cab, top bloke to deal with and is a bc rich convert
  6. Nah dont like it, Too bare and the bridge just doesant look right. Plus the knobs are orrible!
  7.
I am still trying to get passed the Bristol Rovers bit as I am a Saints fan
I just have to say, We dominated you guys Lol.
  8.
You'll have Jon (Bassassin) spitting teeth! That's vintage Japcrap - possibly Matsumoku! Nice buy!
I am pretty sure its not jap crap, I reckon its korean or chinese. Ventura werent allways japanese and they werent allways the same company. Its pretty recently built (Maybe late 90's) Either way, i am hundred percent its not jap.
  9. So after watching my footie team (Bristol Rovers) Triumph in the FA cup this afternoon, I perused the Gumtree ads and came across one for "Bass guitar, £30" Yes its only a cheapy, I asked for pictures and got these. I was a tad apprehensive after seeing those pictures. I wasent looking for a huge project, But decided to take a gamble. Its a Ventura bass. The bass was dropped off over mine and came with a case. A top notch Hiscox case. There was sticker goo all over the bass. Sticky Headstock, Really old strings, Rusty bridge, No screws in the Control plate which was held with duct tape in place. Dodgy Input jack etc. I didnt expect much more to be honest! But the case rocks! The inside is pristine! Anyway. I decided to start stripping and cleaning everything, Took all the glue gunk off, Took all the fingerboard dirt off, Screwed down and cleaned the control plate etc. One of the tuner heads are defective and falls off, But works. Electronics are fine. Cleaned all the dirt off of the bridge. Removed the Ventura logo from the headstock. So it now plays, Not brilliantly but far better then before. So i need to fill in the huge chunk of wood thats missing from beneath the control plate. Sand the finish all the way down. Put a new set of gold tuners on it. All new gold hardware, and see where to go from there. Oh and new strings. What to you reckon? For 3 hours work and lots of wire wool i think it looks a tad better! Not sure if its worth it, Maybe try and sell it now and cut my losses. I am glad i spent the money due to the lovely hardcase
  10. Mea's looking for a new bass player? I never knew that, Maybe i should go for it
  11.
Just need a headstock pic - there were three different styles - Gibson type "open book", pre '76, then a larger, almost Guild shape on the MIJ post-lawsuits, up until about 1980, when the brand changed hands & production went to Korea. These guitars will have a quite plain, triangular headstock end, usually black-face with a small script logo. I really can't tell with yours - although it doesn't look like the first type, it could be either of the others. Obviously its date & country of manufacture will make a difference to its collectability. J.
I do remember it was not triangular, But with bumps instead on the headstock, more like a Gibbo headstock. I havent seen the guitar in a couple of years. Rob.
  12.
Hi - any chance of clearer pictures, particularly the headstock? There were several different Antoria 335s, not all of them MIJ, should be possible to ID yours from clearer pics. Jon.
Unfortunatly not. I am selling on for a friend. However i know this one to be an MIJ FACT. I'll try and locate some more pics.
  13. Hey guys. I have a brilliant condition Set neck japanese Antoria ES335 Copy. Schaller hardware and a fantastic build construction sound. from the 70's/80's. Nice two tone sunburst. This is one seriously great guitar. Asking 250 for quick sale. Pickup From bristol ONLY. Rob. Edit: Pics do not do it justice.
  14.
The voodoojunkie Wiki has the following to say about Choke: But there are some sound people on there, shockwave and JoeGarcia for example! Some chokers also post on VoodooJunkie, to muddy things.
I prefer choke just becauses it's busier, bth neither have been particulary freindly to metallers!
  15.
I'm moved to Bristol, someone introduced me to the 'Choke' forum, thats where I hooked up with the scene, by finding the metallers who turn up there and say they despise the place. Also Shockwave and his horrible pointy basses is an extremely popular and much respected forum member.
Your kidding right? I am universally HATED on there, Apart from the people who have met me in real life and realised i am not such a bad guy!
  16. The singer songwriter scene and indie scene is pretty big up here, Theres a small rock scene and a very select metal scene. Jazz and funk is pretty few and far between, However Reggae is pretty big.

    Wil's feedback

Bugger off Yup wil bought his first mock off of me, great guy, respectable haircut.
  18. I just heard back, the joint has been fixed and glued, Though they are struggling trying to get a colour match, So i said to just paint a ring of black around where the crack happened, it will help hide the crack. So i may get it back within a week! (Far earlier then i thought) Heres some pics of it before it was sent to me. Also i got a small amount of compensation which will go towards my new ironbird
  19.
Ooooh, gutted, after all the fuss you had getting the number. I just had a bass shipped to my work address, had to agree with poster that I took risk limited to £50 cause it wasn't hardcased. Course, it was a bass I paid £50 for anyway, and it turned up fine. A glueing and clamping will sort it right out. How's the Bailey's work compare to TomWaghorn's? I've always had him do stuff for me, I kept checking in on progress of my thing and saw a Thunderbird having a headstock job done, looked spotlesss toward the end.
The baileys are fantastic, Very cheap, however you may not see your bass/guitar for many months, possibly years. You really have to chase them up. I was quoted 40 quid for the glue job and colour match. Rob.
  20.
What's the possibility of whacking another neck on?
Actually higher then usual. Theres a reverse headstock NJ neck on the bay at the moment. I have the money, Problem is i really wanted the matching Pink painted neck that the eagle has. Anyway the baileys have the neck now so hopefully it will be done in a few months. Rob.
  21.
OUCH! thats nasty, its always a worry having basses posted but its a risk you have to take and even a hard case doesn't entirely guarantee safety. did the packaging adhere to USPS regs? you're not to know for sure that it wasn't damaged by them rather than parcelfarce looks like a nice pink bass too!!! peace c
I am not sure, But tbh, i aint persuing it, I would get so little money it wouldnt be worth it. I am not even sure if its worth repairing. Its a cheaper NJ bolt on bass. I am gonna get a repair quote in a minute. It's not so much the money, its the wait to have it repaired. Rob.
  22.
How did you find out Parcel Farce had it? Right bunch of c*nts, they are. Is there no way you can get compensation from them?
It was tracked at the depot last friday. So i assumed i would get the VAT letter or slip in the post on monday or tuesday, By today i still hadnt got it. So i marched down to the depot with all forms of ID and the consigment number and they finally let me have it. No hardcase = No compensation.
