NOW TRADED - Dingwall D-Roc Standard Vintage Burst
£950 - Can ship Mainland UK for £25
Good Overall Condition, one significant ding on the back - see photographs. Note the natural marking in the wood of a black spot on the body, under the G String area on the body between the pickups and the neck.
Note another hole has been drilled to give an alternative position to hand the bass from – done by a previous owner and a very useful addition!
The Blurb from Dingwall:
The D-ROC Standard is an affordable, but brilliant bass guitar. It features a classic design and a high-quality mahogany body, partnered with smoked nickel Hipshot/Dingwall hardware. It’s a match made in bass heaven. This 4-string model comes in a classy, Matte Vintageburst finish.
Hand Picked Hardware
Dingwall have decided on an open-back tuner for the D-ROC. It helps to provide a smooth feel and is extremely lightweight. They are also known for being very reliable, offering years of high-level performance without any issues. A great tone pairs nicely with this solid performance, in part due to an available bridge/saddle system. This has then been improved upon through the implementation of a custom riser system – which grants increased range of action adjustability.
Excellent Electronics
The FD-3N pickups in the D-ROC (made to meet Dingwall expectations) ensure an aggressive, but buttery smooth tone. This is because of the decision to use quality Neodymium magnets. New Smoked Nickel knurled dome style knobs with a set-screw further adds to the excellent electronics found on this bass.
Body and Neck
A well-crafted mahogany body has been used, which helps to reduce the weight of the bass and provides a comfortable playing experience. The average weight of a D-ROC Standard is between 8.5lbs and 9.5lbs – making it a great choice for long playing sessions. The matte finish is durable, and will remain looking amazing for a long period of time. The bass sounds just as good as It looks!
Stability and reliability are guaranteed due to a 5-piece maple neck construction. Many Dingwall players even say that this results in a neck that is as stable as many graphite necked instruments they’ve played previously. The choice of a flat headstock – with Hipshot licensed Ultralite tuners – achieves a truly excellent balance. Playability has also been enhanced thanks to the addition of smaller, 18% hard nickel silver fretwire. It offers you a much faster feel, as well as a woodier, less metallic tone.

So.... is there anything out there that has true bypass, quality, and a compressor and tuner? And will run on either daisy chain or a power pack for under the board?
I think these are great - Valeton Dapper:

Orange OB1-300 Bass Amp + Footswitch + Rack Case.
£425 Shipped Mainland UK.
Great sounding amp in very good condition - comes in a Pulse Rack Case
Good overall condition. One corner of the rack case has a crack but still functions and protects the amp fine.
The Orange blurb is:
These amps have become popular over the last couple of years mainly for their split-signal capabilities which allows you to divide your bass sound into one clean bass signal and one distorted fuzz signal, controlled by the effective Gain and Blend knobs which allow you to choose how much fuzziness you want, from 0 to full-on while always keeping the (clean) fundamental low-end bass sound.
OB1-300
LEAVE THE OTHER AMP AT HOME…
For years bassists have been combining guitar and bass amps to remarkable effect, adding harmonics and layers of overdrive from a guitar amp to their core bass tone in pursuit of the ultimate live sound. This ‘bi-amp’ trend got us thinking… Why drag two amps to the show when you could take just one? The result is the OB1 Series of class A/B rack mountable bass heads which take care of this and much more besides.
The key to the OB1’s unique sound is our footswitchable Blend circuit which adds a veneer of controllable gain and increased harmonic content to the upper registers of the input signal. The lower frequencies and clean signal are left alone, staying warm and clear just as they would be in a ‘bi-amped’ setup. Depending on where the Gain and Blend controls are set, the possibilities are limitless. Punch in the Blend control to achieve anything from a transparent clean boost, to all-out filthy grind, and everywhere in between.
KEY FEATURES
‘BI-AMP’ INSPIRED DESIGN
The OB1 splits the input instrument signal into two separate paths. One side amplifies the clean signal, with all the clarity you would expect from Orange. The other adds stages of gain to the upper harmonics only, controllable via the amp’s Gain knob. These two elements are combined using the amplifier’s Blend control which adjusts the mix between clean and dirty. The Blend control can then be remotely engaged or defeated using the optional footswitch.
The Gain and Blend’s range allows for almost anything, from a subtle level boost to cut through the mix, added girth and presence at moderate settings to fatten up chorus passages, to fully saturated savagery at the extremes. However you dial it, the OB1 always maintains the critical low end definition, right the way up to the most offensive settings!
ACTIVE EQ
The OB1’s highly responsive active three band EQ has been meticulously voiced for maximum effect with minimal fuss. The EQ section is located after the Gain and Blend dials take effect, allowing full control over their massive sonic range. The Bass and Middle controls feature +/-15dB of boost or cut, whilst there is a range of +/- 20dB on the Treble control.
ALL ANALOGUE SIGNAL PATH
The OB1 Series puts proper class A/B power back on the map. All circuitry is completely analogue, ensuring these amps sound expressive and musical even at ridiculous gain levels.
RACK MOUNTABLE
The OB1 Series are our first rack mountable amps, suitable for 19″ cases (2U). Enclosed in a rugged power coated steel chassis the fascia is finished in our classic ‘pics only’ styling.
BALANCED & LINE OUTPUTS
Balanced DI with ground lift and line level outputs for live and studio use.

Not sure if such a clause would stand up in real world courts against accepted precedents like fisher v bell and boots v royal pharmaceutical
id argue relative balance of power of the parties against it
Each case depends on the individual circumstances.
No contract is formed in my online case example though. This is very common. No contract formed until shipped or notification of shipping.
Fisher Vs Bell is actually the same principle, a shop website is an invitation to treat, the modern day shop window if you will.
Online purchase, putting into your basket and making a payment is your offer to the seller.
The sticking point is then where does acceptance of this offer take place.
We firstly need both offer and acceptance to form the contract.
Commonly the acceptance will be deemed to be once goods are shipped or notification of shipment is made, thus giving the seller ample time and opportunity to review the offer and accept or not.
-
The relevant law here is offer and acceptance.
The get out clause that often applies in online cases is that the sellers T&C's states that acceptance of the offer only takes place when the goods are shipped or the buyer is notified they are shipped.
I don't know if that is specifically in this sellers T&C's here but it is a fairly standard online retailer clause. I'd be surprised if it isn't, its a handy clause for suppliers to have as it gives them the opportunity to catch things like this.
We all normally agree to all the sellers T&C's by ticking the box on payment that we agree to the T&C's, and of course hardly anyone reads through the T&C's.
Agreed poor customer service, PR etc, but unlikely that it would be termed as a breach of contract.......

I’ve had a few interactions with BD over the years and have come away utterly dissatisfied every time. The worst was when I was considering ordering a custom Wood & Tronics from them and specified 4 string, 16.5mm spacing as a requirement. I was told by Mark that I didn’t want that, I wanted a 5 string with 18mm spacing. 🙄
Ahh, yes - The old Bass Direct Jedi Mind Trick!!!

Padded Foam Cover for Big Baby T - Also fits Big Baby 2.
£30 posted Mainland UK.
Some wear and tear with the odd nick but will still go a job and plenty of life left in it.
This is a decent foam padded cover and not a slip case or a felt/vinyl job.
Comparing it to my One10 Cover – I believe it is as supplied by Barefaced before they added the branding. The style /method of the stitching and the foam look identical.
Obviously this one is a little more tired and non branded.
Photos show the pulls and scars – please do not expect as new condition.
Some wet marks on the photos will dry out - I've just vacuumed and wiped the cover down.
This is actually for a Big Baby T – Dimensions of:
64cm x 48cm x 34cm
Bit I also actually used it more with a Big Baby 2 which has similar dimension of:
56cm x 45cm x 37cm
A bit loose on a Big Baby 2 but still did the job of offering protection just fine.
£75 for a new branded one for from Barefaced for a BB2 so looking for £40 posted mainland UK.

Elek-Trix solderless pre wired -- wiring harness for single pickup basses.
This is a dual capacitor model.
The tone knob is push/pull, selecting between two different capacitors, each one having one of 15 different capacitance values to choose from using the micro switches.
Pickguard not included - I think i have added the correct drawing too to explain how the dip switches operate

ugh SAP/Concur... yuk. It's just as bad if you have to use it in a big organisation. It never integrates with anyone's IT systems despite what the snake oil salesmen say. Stupid business managers buy it without getting a proper technical assessment then IT spend years trying to get it to integrate with systems.
I became convinced that the reason the bean counters liked the expenses system was that it was so difficult to use that most people gave up claiming
Absolutely this.
We use this at work.
I've used it once.
I now flat out refuse to get involved in anything that requires claiming back.
Horrible system.

Its not an NS2000 as they are neck through.
Agreed it looks like a Q4 - Characterised by the slab bodies, unusual for Spectors as virtually everything else they offer are curved bodies.
Great basses - Nice Korean Spectors from c2000 ish

I don't know BACS from a ham sandwich but the shipping side of things seems entirely remote from you. He is shipping his bass from you to himself in HK. His problem to deal with HK Customs.
BACS is a direct bank transfer.
Yep - agreed, in simple terms... if the buyer is the consignee and the consignor then you would be golden Warwickhunt.

In my work life I have shipped many shipments into and out of Hong Kong.
Further, specifically in terms of Hong Kong, I believe HK is still classed as a "free port" so there is no customs tariffs on imports and exports.
Note - That only covers the customs duty element of all the applicable costs. For me, I would still only want to sell on an ex works basis so the buyer has control and ownership on transport, insurance etc.

I potentially have a buyer for a bass that I have for sale on Facebook (not a BC advert or buyer). The guy is French but has residency in Hong Kong; I've pretty much ascertained he'd have to have been setting up the most elaborate scam for years if he was trying to con me, as he has pictures and history on FB going back years of France/Hong Kong and him being a bassist; so I'm not too worried about that. Added to which he is paying me via BACS before the bass is shipped and he is booking the courier with insurance etc and covering all costs.
My 'problem' is that he would prefer the bass be sent to his HK address as he says there are no tax implications (£1800 bass), whereas France would hit him with 20-25% and he'd still have to pay to fly the bass with him from France to HK when he travels back there. I just can't find the answer to the taxation of 'private' goods sent to HK! Loads on HMRC re businesses but nada on private. If I understand it correctly, taxation etc should all be handled and declared during the booking of the courier. What I fear is that though he appears to be absolutely straight, I might get hit with the tax bill when it is delivered. I really would rather not book the courier as I'd be responsible in the result of damage, loss etc and even then, would/could I get hit for tax after it is delivered in HK
Does anyone have any first hand experience in matters of this nature, I'd appreciate any insight.
I sold a bass to Singapore once.
I think the safest way for a seller to do this is to sell it on a collected basis where the buyer organises and takes complete control of the process, costs (including taxes etc) and risks of an international shipment. In business speak selling it on an "ex works" basis.
Ownership of the responsibility on shipping, duty, taxes, insurance etc is then 100% with the seller, who has organised the shipping.
I direct potential buyers to interparcel / parcelhero etc websites and ask that they organise everything.
You would then just need to box up, review the paperwork, attach labels and hand over the bass on collection to the courier company.
