[/quote] I bought my Gewa 2nd hand for £1200, it came with the original receipt for £2850 from 1998 (I think?!) it is fully carved and ebony all round, I've still put on a new and better bridge, strings an set up etc. For the budget you've got I would be looking for a good second hand bargain, there have been some beaut's for very favourable prices. Your original listing is certainly not worth the money in comparison to what you can get and what second hand values are anyway. Good luck!

I've just finished testing these and made a quick YouTube comparison between these and my previous Evah Pirazzis and most recent Belcantos. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvNuVif43-Y[/media] I was pleasantly surprised and very impressed with the Innovations. In the very short time that I’ve been playing DB I’ve managed to try out 7 sets of different strings (including 2 sets of Daf’s trial Innovations). The Arco/Jazz is aptly named if they want to remove the ‘Hybrid’ tag. They are very similar to the Evah’s in ‘feel’ and I think they bow and pizz very similar as well, with just a slightly more neutral tone compared to the darker tone of the Pirazzis. They also have a little less tension even though they feel to be about the same gauge. I’ve only used the Belcantos for a short time now and they seem to bow a little bit better than both the Evah’s and the Innovations and the dynamics are easier to control with the bow. The Innovations must be a 10/10 for value although I don’t know how durable they will be over time compared to other makes.

Congratulations, that looks excellent, and a great acquisition. I was happy last night because I had a 'new bridge day' having an adjustable bridge and Full Circle fitted by Martin Penning, what a difference it has made. However, you be ecstatic with your New Bass Day!

I would also consider a second hand Shure SM81 or a Rode NT5, both of which should be in that price range and are very good for recording acoustic string instruments as well as being equally good for using live.

Well I'm disappointed - I wanted you to leave and teach them a lesson !! Great result and some great tips, I particularly like the one about turning the volume down as they turn the volume up.

Yes, I'm a big fan - the iTunes download gives you all the videos with the album and recently, on holiday, I was chilling out on my balcony with the videos playing on my iPad with the music streaming through Portable Bose system and that created a couple more fans as well!

Cheers, [/quote] Andrew McGill is from Oxfordshire, near Banbury, so I have to send by post, which is about £10 each way and £55 for the re-hair. He also makes bows, but they start at around £1400! I'm sure you will be happy enough with the carbon Yita bow - they are great value for money and as you've already said yourself: you get what you pay for, which is true, but sometimes you get more value for money and I think this is definitely the case with these and other bows from China. I still have the receipt for the Brazilwood bow that came with my DB new in 1996, which cost £185 (from a retailer in Bristol) and is nowhere near the quality or playability of my Yita bow. I will also be going to see Martin Penning next month for a new bridge on my DB and have the Fishman Full Circle fitted at the same time, although he's about 40 miles and an hour's drive from me in the other direction,.
