Oh my favorite Cog shorty, on my favorite album.......I know that feeling..it really depends on where ur minds at..Incognito are great.im always blown away by Randys playing..Julians good too.managed to get Tales from the Beach down the other day, from the new album...Jacobs ladder from 100 degrees and rising is very difficult though..hes a special bass player.. Good on you, Solar Fire is fast and fluid. Randys on fire on that one..
Hope-Taylor and Crampton are amazing. I blame to two of them for getting me hooked on cheese!

I'd say a taste for jazz is well worth acquiring.
Well, if you are set on a change of pickups, I'd concur with Dr Dave - Barts are very smooth in my experience. Otherwise no doubt Mr Wizard can knock you up a set to taste!
Cool, I'll see what's available on Ebay.
Have you considered changing strings? I've got those DiMarzios in mine, and they're very revealing - WAY too bright and raucous with Stainless Elites, but smooth and deep with the set of Thomastik flats I've got on there now. A lot cheaper than a new set of pickups too!
I don't seem to get on with flats. I've got the same strings on a different bass (Rotosound RB45 Nickle) and they sound perfect. It just seems nuts to only be able to play with the tone rolled all the way off. I don't much like slapping with the tone up a bit either - sounds too thin.

I was wondering whether anyone had an opinion on the what are the mellowest sounding jazz pickups. I've got some DiMarzio Ultra Jazzes in a project bass and I find them really harsh. Can anyone recommend a something a bit sweeter? I like the Jaco/Richard Bona/Etienne Mbappe sound. My favourite sounding bass has been the Lakland Darryl Jones that I'm selling but I'm not sure whether the pickups are available after market or whether they'll fit into a Jazz Bass body. Your input is appreciated guys.
Man, if I only had the cash. I was on my way down to Brighton the day you bought it from silverfoxnik, and got the phone call to say you'd bought it. If only I'd got my foot down Good luck with the sale.
Sorry to get in there 1st only to sell it on! Place a bid on EBay, you might get it for a steal and there needn't be any driving involved
Definitely interested, but too far away (Devon) for pickup - do you have any idea yet what the postage costs might be...? Alternatively, any possibility of a midway meeting...?
Unfortunately, I'm not in possesion of 4 wheeled transport at the mo'. I looked at Parcelforce's site and it looks like postage will be £30-£35.

I believe I'm the 3rd owner of this beautiful bass. Previously owned by P-T-P and Silverfoxnik. It pains me to get rid of this because I thought it was a bass for life. Love the sound and the look. The problem is, it's got 5 strings. I was faithful to this bass for 6 months and then played a 4 the other week (it's a jazz project that took me a year to finish). Almost immediately I felt more comfortable with the 4. I have to face facts, I'm simply a better player on a 4. Condition-wise, I'm hard pushed to find a mark on it. Awesome pickups. Superb build quality. Here's a pic: I'm looking for £675. Pickup from Brighton would be preferred but might come to terms with posting it. More pics available on request. Thanks for looking!
The posting options with cabs are pretty good these days.. I've bought and sold a number of large cabs over the last 2 years and always used APC and they've been great! Definitely worth considering I'd say, especially if you have someone interested as it seems you do.... Good luck with it!
Cheers for the tip - I'll look them up.
I'd buy this, but I live in Northumberland, so it would be a bit of a journey to pick it up; would you consider posting? Charla
I suppose if there's no one near the South Coast who's up for creating earthquakes in the next couple of weeks, I'll have to reconsider the local stance. Will update the posting as and when.
