1. My Eden in the market place does... *shameless plug* Not sure if latest Edens do. Did you mean what's light and compact that goes down to 2 ohm?
 2. Thanks Tredders, That's quite a stable of P basses you have there. I think selling this is going to go on the gear regrets list. I'll leave it on here another week and then tell the wife no-one wants it and through out some of her stuff to make room for it. I'm slowly convincing myself I shouldn't sell it.
 3.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same one you know!
I couldn't help myself and did a search on fleabay, unfortunately for the continuing drama of this thread, the OP's bass was blue.
 4.
I'm not so sure, how far back is the buyer obliged to go? I've just bought a new pa from an online shop, I don't know where they have got it from. Under No circumstance should the shop pass on any buyers info to the kid, his mom or the dad so the only people that could request that would be the police who I can't see getting involved at all. If the kid swore his dad gave it him and his dad swore he didn't that's the end of the whole debacle legally.
For the civil side of this, the limit is 6 years. However that time runs from when the claimant had knowledge of the facts - or should have done. This is nothing to do with the police - for the OPs situation their isn't enough evidence to prove any criminal action, and obviously the kid is too young to be sued as well.
 5.
Does the standard 50s (non-Roadworn) have a nitro finish ? If so i'm happy to do my own relicing.
No. There is a model called the Classic 50s Lacquer, which does, but I don't know about pricing on that.
 6.
I'm pretty sure all of them are just standard mex pickups and looking on fenders specs. And the codes on the bottom have been known to be the same on many pick ups no matter where there from. I only mention this as Ive been reading a fair bit on this. So unless the specs specifically say where there from there just standard to that factory.
The problem with Fender is they just don't give that information. You could well be right. I did a lot of reading about it a while back, came down on the side of more than likely Am Std than not, I'm not going to revisit all that though - a lot of contradictory information. There's a lot that if different on this bass from an MIM Std, it doesn't seem a great leap that the pickups might be different too. The specs list the pickup as 'Vintage Style', whereas the std MIM is just 'split coil'. The MIJ 50s bass is also listed with 'vintage style' pickups. It certainly suggests they are different to the std MIM if not actually any evidence they are the same as the pre 2012 Am Std. Anyway, mine sound good to me, but I am tempted to go for an SD pickup just out of curiosity and because that's what I've been happy with before.
 7.
Are they really us pickups?
Well I have to admit to being not 100% sure. On other websites, people have posted replies from fender that they have Am Std Pickups in them - however these were the pre 2012 version that have plastic bobbins and seem to be thought of as inferior to the ones currently in the Am Std. I've pulled mine while shielding, and they do indeed have the right numbers stamped on them and are plastic bobbins (my bass is a 2013). Could this be a case of fender using up their parts inventory? It's really hard to know with Fender.
 8. I have the non-roadworn version, exactly the same spec, just not battered. Great bass, love the neck, but not everyone will as its at the wider vintage correct width. The non roadworn tend to go cheaper so they are a good deal. The pickups are the same as the American Standard, which could be where the finished in the US rumour comes from. Our it could be they do th he roadworn finish in the states.
 9.
"There is a despute over the ownership of the bass." Two choices. 1. Return the bass for a full refund. 2. Tell the shop you have the bass and will hold on to it until the 'despute' is resolved and the police are free to contact you. If the police do contact you and collect the bass, don't expect a full refund without a lot of hassle. Your call.
The police aren't going to come calling over this. You can't even get the police to investigate a straight forward theft round here, let alone referee a family argument about Indian giving.
 10. Thanks Dood. I more meant without using the toneprint, how does it differ? I read a bit further down the spec page and it says 'improved algorithm' but that's not giving much away. Would love to see your review if you get one, especially if you can do a comparison with the RH version.
 11.
I go by the old saying treat others as you would like them to treat you. If a family member sold one of your basses would you just let it go and put it down to experience or would you be very upset and want it back? Could you or would you report you own child to the police to get the bass back. I know I would be devastated so that why I would give the bass back but I would not want to be out of pocket has the buyer either. For me it’s not about getting away with it it’s about doing the right thing.
This seems a bit murky to me - is the dad just doing this to get back at his ex? Did he just change his mind about giving his son the bass when he found out his son sold it rather than take up playing like his old man? Is the shop being straight - the OP hasn't divulged the bass, did they just sell too cheap and want to go back on it? The right thing is only right if everyone else is being straight up. Personally I would send it back if suitably compensated as I just wouldn't want the aggravation.
 12. Apart from the toneprint, anyone know how this differs from the spectracomp on the RH amps?
 13.
The info I've been given is the shop bought it in good faith from a young lad and his mum. The estranged father / husband is now claiming it is his bass and he only lent it to his son and wants it back. I have some issues with this: The shop must have had it for some time before trying to move it on eBay, then the auction was a 7 day auction so there was plenty of time to reclaim it from the shop; also I can't shake the feeling they want it back as they've had a better offer elsewhere... It was a pretty good bargain.
I've just reread this. There is no evidence whatsoever that this bass has been stolen. Is the father really going to prosecute his son? The police will have nothing to do with this, they'll just say its a civil not criminal matter. At best what you have is a civil dispute between the father and the son as to legal title of the bass, its the fathers word against the son, it isn't going to go any further, let alone to a court case. If you want the bass, keep it, let them do the running to get it back.
 14.
I bought a used bass from a guitar shop on eBay. It arrived fairly quick and in pristine condition, looking incredibly pretty; when I plugged it in and tried it - it sounded great and I was looking forward to my first neighbour complaint as it's soooo much louder than my other bass. I have to say it felt right to play, sounded right for what I want and I was totally smitten - looking forward to a long and happy relationship with this guitar. Then I get an email from the shop saying there's a dispute over ownership of the bass and would I consider returning it for a full refund? Talk about build me up to knock me down!! I must admit that I don't know what to do with this - has anyone else had similar experiences? How was the matter resolved?
Hi mate, possession isn't 9/10th of the law. That used to relate to land (as someone said above), but hasn't for a long time, especially registered land. In one sense it relates to your bass, if you hold it for 6 years, it goes past the Limitation Act period, so the owners wouldn't be able to get it back off you - criminal charges (for the son not you probably) would be another matter. Under the law of contract you have a binding contract for the shop to supply you with the bass that you hold. Hence you could legally make them supply you with one exactly the same and cover any expenses you incur as a result. If the bass is a one off, then they need to negotiate the termination of the contract with you. At the very least you would expect any expenses (like postage, time etc) to be covered and obviously a refund. So I would not be sending the bass back until I had received the refund for it and postage costs - or at the very least written assurance of same if you trust them. You would be justified in asking for payment to cover your time and inconvenience but that is up to you - remember that this isn't a return by you or a faulty product, its the retailer breaking their contract with you. Good Luck, Cheers - what bass is it!?
 15. Bump. Next possible delivery date Tues 26 Jan - I'm driving from Southampton to Heathrow, so if you're vaguely on the way then I can deliver to you Not really looking for trades, as I'm not in need of anything, however let me know what you have. I'm interested in P Basses and Ashdown CTM 30/Little bastard and Aguilar TH heads.
 16.
The greatest combo I've ever come across. Used one for a long while. It can do everything with the EQ flat! GLWTS
Stop it! It was hard enough to put this up for sale as it is
 17.
A nice looking Westone. I believe that the Concord was medium scale too. http://www.ebay.co.u...=p2056016.l4276
This was on sale locally to me for £40! Unfortunately someone got there before me and obviously put it on ebay for a quick flip. Oh well, can't blame them, I should have moved faster.
 18. It's with a heavy heart that put up for sale my Eden Metro DC210XLT Combo 2 channel Hybrid Valve Amp 400w or 600w with an extension cab - Price £400 - Trades: Not really looking for trades, as I'm not in need of anything, however let me know what you have. I'm interested in P Basses and Ashdown CTM 30/Little bastard and Aguilar TH heads. I'm on the Isle of Wight but will deliver free within 30 miles of Southampton, further by negotiation or meet halfway etc. I'm on the mainland fairly often. If needs be I'll send this by courier (from Southampton to reduce cost) at buyers cost. This was my dream amplifier, but I now run a TCE modular system just for the convenience. So for space reasons as well as matrimonial harmony I have to sell her (the amp not the wife). Also, I plan to emigrate back to NZ in the near future and I'd hate for this to be mistreated en route. I doubt I'll ever own an amp this good again it sounds epic with both my Ray and P Bass. Well I don't need to go on, if you're looking you'll know how good these are. I don't think its possible to get a better combo amp for this money. It is in excellent condition, I have never gigged this amp, I bought it with the intention of doing so but it coincided with a non-gig period for me. I bought it from basschat member okusman at the end of 2011 and he had looked after it too. Its had very little use from me, just as a home studio amp. It comes with a fitted roqsolid cover and the original footswitch for changing channels and muting. Here are the specs if you need them: http://www.musicians...p#productDetail and the manual for more detail: http://www.edenamps....10XLTMetro2.pdf Get in touch in you need more info, etc, Cheers, Dan
 19. That's great info. Which gauge of cobalt are you using on the fretless?
 20.
The Cobalts are my first venture into the flat world. The tension is higher than the Ernie Ball rounds I was using previously, and I needed to adjust the truss-rod to compensate. The marketing blurb for the Cobalts talks about a roundwound sound with a flatwound feel. They haven't got the full growl of a set of rounds, but sound much brighter than a traditional set of flats. As the Sterling's got loads of GRRR, anyway, I'm very happy with the compromise.
Thanks, that tells me all I need to know. When I changed from EB super slinkys to ti flats I had to loosen the truss rod. I really need the low tension due to a hand condition so I guess I'll be sticking with them.
 21.
My mate Jase Brooks and I were discussing this a few weeks back. So, to try and find out, Jase contacted Nile Rodgers via Twitter :
Brilliant, probably the most conclusively settled argument ever.
 22.
I recently put a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on my Sterling, and I'm really pleased with them. They're still bright enough if you need a bit of slap and pop, but you can wind off the treble to go in search of a Bernard Edwards tone. (Impossible I know - it was all in his fingers, but it sounds closer than using rounds).
Have you also tried TI flats? How do they compare tension wise if so? I really like the low tension of the TI flats but I'm interested in trying out the cobalts.
 23. I have TI Jazz flats on my stingray. I love the sound but it's not classic modern stingray. However the eq on ray let's you get to quite a bright sound so it's not that much of a compromise. I think the only downside would be if you play a lot of slap. I don't so no problem.
