Probably more of a hi-fi'ish type sound, but can do thuddy, boomy, sparkling, ..... . The only thing it doesn't really do is ampeg-like dirty. As for the cabs, I'd love one, but they're so flippin' heavy. I once played through the Metro combo (500W -with extension cab- 2x10) and loved the sound, but I love my lower back more!

Re the MB hype, it was always portrayed as being one of the most accurate translators of your bass ("hear your bass as it really sounds" or something like that). My experience couldn't have been further from the truth. I'm sure for some folks, MB gear sets their world on fire. It may well be that the same folks can't stand Eden gear. Like I said, horses-for-courses.

I'm with WOT on this one. I've owned a LM head and have never regretted selling it. Sure it was damn loud and very portable, but I know exactly what WOT (that just sounds all wrong!) means when he talks about the compressed type sound. For £400 I replaced the LM with an Eden WT400 which I still have and which I still love. I know it's horses-for-courses, but I just don't get the Markbass hype.

I've also played some of the Sandbergs in the B'ham PMT. Really can't say I was that impressed. Fair enough, some of 'em look quite nice, but they just didn't sound ...... 'alive' enough for my liking. Not sure whether it's the Delano PUP's or what, but it was all a bit dull. Probably didn't help that it was going through one of the new Trace amps (not really impressed with them either!) When the bass sales guy showed me his custom Sandberg, it sure looked good, but it also sounded a bit dull. He, on the other hand reckons "it does the Musicman sound better than a Musicman"! You have no idea how much I hate it when people say that!! I'm with whoever it was that suggested you try a Lakky. Top basses.

You're probably not going to believe this, but I actually have a pot of "Sticky Stuff Remover" (I jest ye not!). I'm pretty sure we got it from Lakeland (as in the kitchen gadget people). You may also be able to get it from some of these craft hobby places. Does a fantastic job without the spell of white spirits or meths.

For sale is my John East j-retro pre-amp. It spent a little time in my Lakland JO5, which I decided was more to my taste in it's original passive form. Having tried a couple of pre-amps, this one is certainly one of the, if not the best. Perfect condition. [url="http://www.east-uk.com/jrhome.htm"]http://www.east-uk.com/jrhome.htm[/url] for details. When I bought it, John very kindly put some of the easy little screw connectors so no soldering required. £175 new. I'll take £135 +P&P Interested?

I haven't had this that long having bought it from johngh a couple/few months back. John told me at the time that it was absolutely spotless and in A1 condition; he wasn't wrong. This bass is pristine. As you can see from the pics the neck is Carbon-Graphite. I think the body wood may be alder with Walnut on top. It has the 18V 2 band EQ with Hyperactive PUP's. There's not a single deadspot on the neck, which itself is a wonderful thing to behold. So, you ask, if it's this good why am I selling it? TBPH the sound just isn't what I'm after. I'm a bit of a Jazz and Warwick man at heart and the Status is quite a bit 'cleaner' than both. Contrary to some opinions, however, I certainly wouldn't call it sterile. Now for the price. I'd be looking for £650 cash or a trade on an interesting 6 string. Like I've already said, I think I'd probably love a Warwick Streamer 6, but I know there aren't many of those floating around so let me know what you've got. I also [i]may[/i] be open to trades for interesting 5's. The only real proviso is that I'm not really into skinny necks. Ta for looking.
