The fingerboard is rosewood i think, and is a really grainy piece that looks great. The Preamp is Jon shukers active 2 band preamp and his own pickups. And has a fresh set of DR strings on it. I am also included a Shuker hiscox hardcase in the sale, which is in good condition, apart from a little bubble where i got a bit hot next to a radiator. You can still see the body on his website, priced at 650. I paid 750 for the bass because i asked for the active preamp, and then bought the case also. I think 600 is fair as this bass is virtually unused, and to order this from Jon you'd probably pay closer to a grand and also have to wait about 6 months. Payment is by paypal or bank transfer or cash on collection.     [s][/s][b][/b]Hi all, I have decided to let my beloved Warmoth, which I put together with my own fair hands, go. The Warmoth has a swamp ash body, maple neck with quite a bit of birdseye in it, satin on the back and clear gloss on front of headstock, ebony fingerboard. Machines are Schaller M4s. Pickups are Nordstrand NJ4SEs, Audere JZ3 2 band eq (vol/vol/bass+treble cut and boost/passive tone). Badass bridge. In great condition, only 2 tiny marks on body, one near the control plate and one at the bottom of the bridge and there's a line where the finish has come off the back of the neck. Will get photos of these later. Includes Hiscox case which is in great condition. One tiny (and I mean tiny) mark near control plate, otherwise amazing condition.

Body and neck come pre-drilled, at least I think the neck comes pre-drilled, I can't remember now but it couldn't be easier. Setting it up takes a bit of time but you can go on YouTube for info on that. Lakland have a couple of vids on there that are good.

Yeah, I like the idea of the EMGs as well, particularly the new JVX and JAX ones, both of which come with pots and plug in wiring kits.

For the price you'd pay to put a nice Warmoth together you could get yourself a nice Jap or Road Worn Jazz/Precision or something similar.[/quote] ........by the way, as much as I love this swamp ash bodied, birdseye maple necked, ebony fingerboarded, Nordstrand NJ4SE pickup'd, Audere 2 band preamped (vol,vol,treble/bass,passive tone), Badass bridged beauty, if someone wanted to do a trade for a Sandberg JJ5/JM5 I would be sorely tempted to let her go. Particularly if it was for one of those lovely aged finished ones in either cream or baby blue.

    I know they've got a great reputation, but I'd just like to hear some more opinions of sound, playability, action, quality etc. Also, would like to know if anyone's tried one with the Delano Hybrid pickup system, and if so does it actually sound like a Jazz in passive and MM in active? The aged finishes are gorgeous too.

    Talking to the guitarist at a gig last night who was telling me about a mate of his who plays in a Motown tribute band doing theatre shows, he said he's making 50k a year. Gumph! I'm a plumber by day and, contrary to popular belief I don't make 50k a year or anywhere near that but was also talking to a plasterer on a job about 6 months ago who saw my 4x10 in my van and went on to tell me about another plumber he knows who played guitar and joined an AC/DC tribute band, again playing theatres and festivals. He said he quickly got to the point where he was making so much money with the band that he packed in the plumbing! If anyone knows of such a band who is looking for a bass player can you please point them my way!?

When i started playing it I was immediately struck by the great neck, lovely low action and how balanced the sound was across all 4 strings. I was so struck by it that I went to try one in a shop a few days later and was really disappointed with it. I struggled with the tone the same as my mate. After that there would be no way I would pay nearly 2 grand for one. There are so many other basses in that price bracket to try.

Thomann are selling them for a rather whopping £2300. Anybody tried one? Xotic also do some rather nice effects pedals which can also be seen on their site, particularly like the Robotalk which Travis demos as well.

That sort of thing [/quote] I had a BB1200 way back when (talking 21 years ago, Jeez..), through neck, had been defretted when I got it for 80 quid. I had it refretted, fitted EMG pickups, Precision and Jazz and an MEC active circuit. I also cut out a section on the lower horn to aid upper fret access, had the neck shaved to a Jazz profile and stripped the finish off, don't ask me why, seemed like a good idea at the time! Was a nice bass, but not as nice as the ESP Jazz I had at the time so I sold it to somebody in Newcastle. Often wish I'd kept it. Would love to know what happened to it. I also had one of the BB5000 5 strings that were being knocked out at 500 quid by Rock City in Newcastle, must've been the first reasonably priced 5 string there was. Balanced well, nice and light. Liked the sound, but the string spacing was too tight for me and the bloody thing would not stay in tune!
