  1. Update time: I think the total number of deposits will allow us to make moulds for the p bass, j bass, SR4N and SR5N necks. Thank to everyone who put deposits down. I'll start final confirmation of measurements this week.
  2. Calling Stingray 5 owners...could someone possibly take width and depth measurements of their SR5 neck for me?  I'd like to compare them to my SR5 Classic.  Feel free to PM.

Sure, dude - I make it 45mm at the nut, 70mm at the top, the neck pocket wood is maybe 26mm deep, neck maybe 20mm thick at the nut and 24-25mm at the dusty end. I don't have calibers to measure the thickness though. Hope that helps!

Thanks!!  The neasurements I have include tenths of a mm. But you have given me something to stsrt with.

  3. Haha...addicts? I prefer to think in terms of aficionados...graphite composite necks have a certain sensitivity...
  4. @tauzero Sorry for the delay - been hectic with meet ups. The distance from the 12th fret to the end of the heel is 223mm
  5. One more order slot left for anyone interested in a graphite jazz neck!

No,..it needs you,  And you want one. [Cue: playing Careless Whispers on saxophone]

  6. One more slot left....!
  7. Shipping is 390RMB (about 40 quid) for up to 20kg in weight. I could combine shipping for up to three necks and ask my friend in London to distribute.
  8. I just realised an error - the fingerboards will have a 21 fret extension because Fender necks are 20 fret not 21. I've edited the spec in the original to the correct number.
  9. Yes they wil use an extension so that the heel will fit a stanrdard neck pocket for a 21 fret neck. The PEEK fingerboard is harder than wood. It'll be Fender shaped. Your six is pretty sweet. It gave me buyers remorse at one point.
  10. Pre EB SR4 necks can fit preEB Sabre basses. So I expect the same will be possible for the graphite composite SR4 necks.
  11. It's a great idea, I'm not personally keen on the lower horn shape but they do sound fantastic. If you can get hold of some measurements for me, I'll definitely be able to provide you with an answer.
  12. Yes it's a standard MM shape. If you have measurements from the neck heel of your Sire, I can let you know about fit. Thanks to @Raslee for securg the first slot.
  13. Only two more slots left...
  14. He has a small team but I'm not sure whether it's hierarchical or flat. My wait is three years and counting....! If/when it's done, I'll post them over on GC. The guitar is the MSG body shape with custom Armstrong HSH pickups and a Kahler trem and a through neck with a figured camphor top.
  15. Update: The price has been negotiated and the name of the company is BQW. He's very honourable and also a complete perfectionist, his build quality is on a par with anything in the US. He is also entirely self taught....! He showed me an order list of about 90 instruments last time I spoke with him. Many from Chinese clients but also many from other countries including some exotic custom creations from customers in the US.
  16. You would have to ask Mr Hall directly. I understand he is domiciled in Market Drayton these days. From our perspective, if it could be mistaken for a Rickenbacker then it would be contentious. If it's just a body shape but highly modified then it'll probably be OK.
  17. If you are a fan of graphite necks, check this:

  18. I've not heard of anyone doing this before. Are these finishes compatible?
  19. I'm not sure about the UK but this phenomenon is known in NZ planning as 'reverse sensitivity' and is not generally recognised as a valid objection to nuisance.
  20. Are you SURE they were ladies though...? We've been down that path already.
  21. Coming to China is always an option 😁 There's a direct flight from London to where I live twice a week.
  22. If you have ever owned a MM Cutlass bass, you will understand intimately why graphite necks can benefit from truss rods. There is also the matter of player set up preferences. Some players like a bit of fight in their instruments and a rounder tone, all of which can be provided by higher action.
