I'd love a Gus bass, and that body artwork is excellent IMO, I'd bet I can't afford one though!

I used that line in the 'live albums' thread.  In that context I meant that it made me realise that music wasn't just the pre-packaged 'same every time' item that i heard on the top 40 every Tuesday lunchtime, it was alive, fluid, ever changing, never the same twice.  This revelation made me 'get' why people went to see bands live over and again, you may hear the same songs, but the experience is never the same, this was part of my growing up, and truly did change my outlook on life.

Re the OP's ULEZ reference, I had Toyota Prius's as company cars between 2009 and 2016, while not exactly a spirited drive, a bass in a gigbag fits horizontally across the back, with room for either my Eden 4x10 or latterly a barefaced 2x10, plus soft bags for cables, amps etc and all hidden from sight.

The ones that blew me away as a kid, and made me want to see live bands....

Ive got an old Squier PJ I steampunked up a bit ages ago, its got a more battered brass looking bridge and string tree on it now too

This is exactly how I started playing bass.  At age 43 I worked out it was the bass lines I had been singing along to since I was about 12, not the guitar solos!!

I still have my Eden rig, 4x10 xlt and a nemesis 400 watt amp (rs400??)  Too damn heavy to gig with nowadays, but I love the sound it produces!!

It’s not a gigging band, just mates getting together once a fortnight and for various reasons (all of which happened before I joined) there are no vocals. Nothing to do with his ability mind, we just prefer it instruments only. Probably helps that we’ve chosen difficult songs to play, there’s a lot of work in them so it doesn’t get boring.

The last band was a 3 piece originals punk/Oi band, all of us completely committed. I only left as the constant gigging and touring combined with a full time job got too much for me. 

So two bands completely different but the same in one respect, all band members wanting the same from that current band.

The scales were off amazon as i recall, very handy for weighing up my basses!

re the PU being hot, there was a thread ages ago addressing this, I ended up soldering in a small resistor to calm it down a bit as in its standard format the output sound was horrible, it so very nearly went back to PMT.

This is mine, its got a chunky leather strap on it which may have added a tiny bit. lbs or kilos, I have both lol.

When I were a lad, I could never get to see enough live bands so live albums were pure heaven for me, so:-

These 5 pretty much defined my youth, and I still listen to all of then regularly today, I love the energy they put out over relevant studio albums.

I'm with you on that, I absolutely HATED having a Jazz with 2 volumes, if I had kept it long enough a Kiogon loom with vol and blend would have been a must have!!

Never knew he played with Gary Moore.  Excellent!
