I too hanker for a jazz pickup config but hate the jazz bass shape. I have a battered PJ Squier that I intend 'tweaking' to fit a Jazz pickup in the 70's position, lines up quite nicely with the existing P route....with a bit of chisel work...... A custom pickguard and Bobs yer auntie!!!, Oh and I'll probably rattlecan the body to a different colour too....

Hmm, my project is fitting jazz pickups into a Squier PJ body, you say those Maida Vales are deeper than normal...any idea how much deeper? can you link pics again? I cant see the originals at all.

Looking for some Jazz pickups for a project, are the Sires still available? Are they for a 4 string? I can't view your pics for some reason.

Turns out I've been here since 2011, also mainly a lurker, but bought many an item, and sold a few too, many dodgy deals in car parks after dark lol! Never met a bad BC'er, love the sense of fun here. Just now having a PM chat with another bassman who I actually worked with a few years back, and neither of us can remember why, hopefully meeting up for coffee and a natter sometime soon. Also met a guy who I apparently went to school with, abeit a few years apart, this forum is absolutely amazing and long may it continue!!

Selling my Zoom B9.1ut multi effect pedal board, owned from new, just sitting around collecting dust (see pics) comes with power supply and Gator bag. Can deliver or meet up depending on distance, don't really want to use couriers, that's not the basschat way!
Cheers for looking edit: just noticed the cat hairs, nice snoozing spot for him dammit...I will hoover it out!!

Selling my Eden 410xst, had it since new, about 15 years now, comes with casters and a Roqsolid cover, has speakon and jack connectors. Selling because I need the space and I only use my Barefaced 210 nowadays. Not going to ship it so collect or meet up somewhere as is the Basschat way! Any questions feel free to PM me.
Cheers

For my 43rd birthday I bought myself a bass starter kit as the 'mid life crisis' alternative was a motorbike which would have killed me. 3 months later I did my 1st gig at 'The Pitz' a music venue in MK to about 200 people....I was terrified!!

Way back when, I used to play World of Warcraft, and my guildies christened one of my characters Oopsamage (mage being a playable class in the game) as I was always falling off things, bumping into baddies and generally being a bit of a bumbling eejit, so on Joining basschat, Oopsdabassist seemed kinda fitting.

Since then he's composed two epic symphonic/prog rock albums ('To Wake the King' and 'Far and Forgot') in the Arthurian vein (on YouTube). I asked him why he was in now our covers band. "Keep the fingers flexible, have a bit of a laugh while I complete the third album!" seemed to be a very reasonable explanation...
That's cool to know, me and the good lady were big Enid fans back in the day, seen em quite a few times now probably last saw them with Francis about the time of 'Six Pieces'

I LOVE prog...grew up on it......not so keen on playing it though, I'm much happier holding down a solid groove rather than dusty end noodling a la Chris Squire or Geddy Lee

I thought I should learn some REM and this song has an excellent bass part.
First thing I realised is there's far less notes than you'd think, loads of space in there. What I'm finding a little tricky is some weird rhythms. I need to learn some more of their songs
We started on this recently too. I love the space as well but our drummer keeps wanting me to put more in, I'm fighting it!

I use a tippex pen and put a couple of dots over the side markers, yes it wears off eventually but the pen is always in my bag and it dries in seconds. been doing it for years and hasn't affected any of the necks adversely yet.

Multiband Fundraiser for Harefield Hospital yesterday, due to play for 45 mins on the back of a truck in a field behind the nurses home, winds estimated to be between 20-40mph, but probably no rain..........what could go wrong? Well apart from 1 band not making it, which meant as soon as I got there it was...'quick, set up, we're on in 10' We also played a bit longer to make up for the missing band, it was a great afternoon/evening and even got home before the missus went to bed....happiness all round!
You can just make out my TH500 atop a Barefaced 2x10 behind the soundman in the middle, damn thing was so loud the sound guy took me out of the PA totally as I was shaking the speakers so much, and it still held its own......love my Barefaced!
