The 2nd album 'Play It Loud' offers up some great songs, signposting the way they were headed. Shape Of things To Come and Sweet Box are excellent IMO

Were they not into their Skinhead bovver boots thing around or just before this album and maybe trying to impress as "hard men yobs" before going full Glam and becoming the darlings of Glam charts.
Have to say the playing is exceptional on this album. I'd never heard it before so went and had a listen when i saw you post it. I love Jimmy Lea's live bass playing, he's just all over that neck in a flowing aggressive style. The guys an absolute legend IMO.
Dave
The skinhead look was 'forced' upon them by the manager Chas Chandler as a way of them getting attention, none of them were happy with the look, and it was at odds with the music they were playing at the time, listen to any song on their 1st album 'Beginnings' its definitely not boot boy ska!

That's super quirky and fun looking. Like the Saab of the bass world.
Ha!....I'll take that, had a jazz bass a few years back, liked the sound and the slim neck, but hated the body shape, so this little project was quite exciting for me

Not sure if this one even counts, it used to be a PJ Squier, my 1st bass as it happens, I refinished the body and converted it to a twin Jazz pickup with a Kiogon VBT loom and ironstone pickups and a new pickguard from @TimAl Quite pleased with the result and the tone is fun to play with given I like my P tones normally!

I've got some on my keys that then go everywhere with me. They came in a little cylinder with a keyring on it.
Yup me too, they also have the colour coded attenuators

I have a sub in oly white with the rosewood neck, I really fancy the look of that carbon fibre effect vinyl.......where did you get it if I may ask?

I would have no issues...if I HAD a tee shirt with the band's logo on it!

I bought a Jazz pre from John many moons ago, Given I don't live that far from him he invited me over and I spent a wonderful afternoon in his workshop drinking tea and talking bass and electronics, he let me touch his vintage Fender P bass too, must be worth a fortune, but he wasn't fussed, lovely man!!

Just acquired one of Lee's 2nd hand Bridges for by Bitsa Squier project, from reaching out to delivery in 5 days is pretty damn good given the state of the post nowadays. Super helpful and kept in touch throughout, great fella to do business with!

Apologies - on further listens, you might be right!
Ha! Law of averages says I gotta be at some point

It wasn't a dig, sorry, to me it sounded like the original music with just some drums overlaid....I have cloth ears

I don't think 'walk on' music counts as a cover if I'm honest........

Replacement pickups arrived this morning, installed and happy to report problem solved. Tony at Ironstone has been excellent, and I can thoroughly recommend him if you are considering replacement PU's , very knowledgable and helpful.
PS they sound great too!

Just swapped out the neck PU for one I found (after a huuuge rummage) Problem gone, just emailed ironstone, hopefully this gets resolved quickly.

I've flipped the neck pickup, no difference, not tried the bridge pickup though, thanks I'll give it a go. If this is the case, what's my options, do I need to return the pickups?
-
I've recently been playing around with an old Squier PJ body, which I've hacked about to fit a JJ setup. I've got a brand new pickup set from Ironstone which I've fitted, plus a new Kiogon loom. My issue is the G string is noticeably quieter than all the other strings. I've tried all the usual suspects, pickup height, strings centred over the pickups, changed the string, I even swapped the neck out for another one I had....all with no improvement. I've double checked to make sure I got the pickups in the right order, bridge and neck, and now I'm running out of ideas.
So, any suggestions?
Cheers.

Sat night at a small pub just behind the High Street in Tring, Not much space and there was a 60th Birthday party going on too, luckily we got em all dancing quite early and the evening ended very sweaty. Great fun all round.

Just received a VBT loom for my Squier PJ conversion to JJ. As in all previous transactions John is fast and efficient, and lovely to chat too as well. Long may he continue!!

Another Sennheiser user here, just an E840, that I bought about 12 years back cos the singer in the band I was in told me to, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but to be honest its been bullet proof, and seems to suit my style of shouting at the mic so I'm happy 😎
