1. Just bought a Korg rack tuner from John - friendly, helpful bloke and a very easy deal, Cheers Neil
2. This has gone now - traded (with some cash) for a lovely 2008 USA Precision........ Thanks to everyone who expressed an interest.
3. Stu, PMed you about this a few days ago but haven't heard back from you. Have they gone?
4. What a good idea - remind the locals what a premiership football strip looks like......
5. Nobody interested? Happy to negotiate on price and even keener to trade for some interesting bass-type stuff.....otherwise it goes back in the case and under the bed (until the market picks up!)
6. Don't want to comment on the price (as I'm not buying its none of my business!) but I have to say how great these are. I have one of these - bought from Marcus (top bloke - and a fellow Sunderland supporter). These '75 reissues really are good - or at least mine is. Really tight, focused sound, superb neck and so good to play. Good luck with the sale........
7. Thanks for the positive comments Golchen - she is a pretty thing (plays as well as most of the US ones I have tried) but it stays in its case under the bed most of the time and I would rather have more bass stuff. The quality of this one is top-notch - great to play but it doesn't help that I am even worse on guitar than on bass - need to concentrate on at least achieving basic proficiency on a 4-stringer....... Happy for a straight sale or trade for something bass-related - just let me know....... Tom - PM returned! Cheers, Neil
8. ’54 Reissue (one-piece 21-fret tinted maple neck with 'skunk' stripe and round string tree). Chunky , soft V neck shape with low action. Truss rod adjuster at body end of neck, Vintage Kluson style tuners, staggered pickup poles. String saddles stamped 'Fender' (apparently the ‘economy' versions had unstamped string saddles and non-staggered pole standard pickups… or so I was told) Medium weight basswood body with ‘fotoflame’ and I think the colour is transparent crimson ‘burst. Found this on the following website: http://www.xhefriguitars.com/page7.html The “Foto Flame” is a thin piece of photographic film of some very highly figured wood laminated to the guitar, (thus the name Foto), developed by Fender, in connection with a photographic corporation…... The Foto Flame guitars, with the flame on top, usually have a Basswood cap on Alder or, in the case of the Foto Flame being on front and back, the whole body can be made of Basswood. When the “Foto Flame,” film is applied to the Basswood top, it makes the guitar appear as if it had high-end matchbook, figured Maple. I have taken pics indoors and out to try to give a better idea of the colour – quite a dark red. Good condition (a few minor dings – worst mark is a kind of crack in the finish in the body above the bridge – see pic – but it is 15 years old……). Comes with Ritter gigbag Lovely guitar, plays well but I don’t use it that much so would like to replace it with some bass gear. Looking for in the region of £350 but would prefer trades: anything in the bass department – bass, combo, amp, cab (happy to add cash where appropriate). If you are interested, just let me know what you want to trade…... Based in Newcastle but don’t let that put you off……. 9. I have an American '75 reissue (bought from Marcus - top bloke) and I have to say it is brilliant. Before I played it I was a bit unsure about the 3 bolt neck fixing (but it has been rock solid) and a natural finish had never been my favourite - but I feel a bit different now....... I keep trying other basses but haven't come across anything that feels as good as this one. I know japanese stuff can be pretty good (I have a Japanese St*at) - and i haven't tried the japanese '75 reissue - but they would have to be pretty amazing to come close to this one. Finish is really good, not fantastically light but a very 'tight/focused' sound and really good to play. I think Guitar Guitar in Newcastle have one and they are not cheap new, and you don't see many second hand ones - but definitely worth a shot if you can find one. Mine might be just a particularly good one (you were right, Marcus) but that applies to most instruments. SOTW

11. Just completed a deal on a '75 Reissue - very easy and straightforward. Bass exactly as described, a fair deal all round and a friendly and helpful bloke. Highly recommended - thanks a lot
12. My experience is a bit diferent - but I know its horses for courses. I am looking for an MIA Jazz at the moment (shameless plug for my ad in the wanted section....) as all the MIAs i have tried have had that extra 'something' that makes the extra cost worth it. It also matters to me about resale - i have tried some excellent Squiers/SXs/etc which are pretty cheap - but they also seem to lose a lot of value when it comes to moving them on - when (as usual) something new catches your eye and the GAS strikes
