Great cabs these. Just think of the stack I could build with this and my 2 VL110s. Unfortunately Torquay is a bit too far away 😞

So it feels like the Thumpinator almost ought to go at the beginning of the signal chain; to clean up all the infrasonic gubbins before it reaches your FX and amp.
This is what Max from SFX recommended when I asked him where to put mine.

I’m close to peach guitars at Colchester might they be good for setting my bass up ..
Not sure if they have a workshop.
Guitar Lodge in Felixstowe are great and reasonably priced. So is Paul Glazebrook but I am not sure if he still taking on work.
I'm in Ipswich - happy to get together for a chat over coffee, after this week. PM me.

They seem to have gone up a bit since the last time I looked. I was thinking you'd get a used Peavey Feedback Ferret for £50.
You could also try chasing the feedback frequency (ies) with a multi-band graphic, or put a noise-gate on the drummer's mike.

You could try a feedback destroyer on the drummer's monitor.

We could ask @Bart Funk Bass , he was on the site earlier this week.

II've been known on Basschat for 16+ years as a champion of SGC Nanyo Bass Collection basses, but every fiver I've had from them (and that's three at the last count) had a rubbish flobadob B-string.
My 465 seems OK, maybe the ebony board adds a bit of density or stiffness? I don't know.

A used SGC Nanyo Bass Collection would fit the bill and would be a cost-effective option. There's one in the classifieds here:

They couldn't find a Fender Bass in England?
There were a few about, but Paul was obviously waiting for Yamaha to perfect the concept with the BB1200.

@Happy Jack just think of all those Beatle choons you could have learned!

buy a relic and if they ask on your return, just say "what, this old thing?"
Just make sure you don't have the receipt for it in your luggage. And steer clear of brazilian rosewood fingerboards.

I don't know if you ever need a dep upright bass player? I'm from Colchester and I'm back down there quite often. I've picked up a few one-off drop-ins to bands whose regular upright player can't make a specific gig.
Let me now.
Thanks Paddy, I'll let you know. I was hoping to find someone full time though.

If you want to sound like an upright - get an upright.

Ideally, it would be useful to see insights into forum browsing vs. search.
Does anyone click through the individual forums to browse the topics anymore?
Yes. It's a relatively small number of forums. I prefer not to have default home screen that shows loads of popular threads in forums I don't read, unless as BRX says there's an option to revert to the traditional view.
-
Or use google instead of the built-in search engine:
Fender Jazz site:https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/16-bass-guitars/
typed into the search box will do it.

No white X on my browser interface either. And a second banner, about the FAQ, which seems tied to this section.

He was asking if I “could play acoustic”, meaning six string but I thought since that taking an acoustic bass would totally f u ck him up.
Finally, a reason to own one!

Sadly, we have to insist that you have performance video that you can share with us before we can meet for a try-out. We will be happy to share ours with you.
You got me there. I can afford to move house, but performance video ? Not a hope.
I guess I could send you performance video of someone else, you'ld never find out until I showed up for the audition 🙂

There was a discussion about this in the Glastonbury thread. Unsurprisingly I can't remember what the conclusion was, if there was one.

An acoustic bass guitar, or a 6-string acoustic guitar?

Sorry I can't be there, Remembrance Sunday so I have a prior engagement. Hope you all have a great day.

Since you bought this from G4M, have you tried taking it up with them? After all they are the ones who have a contract with DX, not you.

Damn, would have loved this @pete.young, until relatively recently I was commuting to Colchester from Kent as well. Bit too far now i'm not
Hope you find the right person soon 👍
Damn @Beedster you would have been the perfect person!
Here's a clip from a recent acoustic showcase set we did at Coda in Colchester, recorded on someone's phone so the sound isn't great.
