1. Thanks. After posting here last night I decided to email Peavey, to see what they said. I got a very prompt email in return along with the schematic for the switch. And information on how to attain replacement knobs for my amp that I had had trouble sourcing. They were very helpful.
2. Sorry, I'm quite new to the site and wasn't sure where to put this. Please let me know if it's in the wrong place. I've got a Peavey T-Max 500 Rack Mount Amp, I've had it for Donkey's years but never had the footswitch to go with it. It's not until the last year or so that I've bothered playing about with effects and it strikes me that it would be really handy to be able to turn off the effects loop, but I need the footswitch so that I don't have to reach around the back everytime I do. The switch has three latch switches and the two other switches might well come in handy too. I've seen more Hens sharpening their teeth on golden lumps of Rocking Horse poo than I've seen these switches, so the plan is to make my own, but I need the schematic and I've had just as much luck finding that. So I'm asking here if anyone can help? I would imagine that the switches are quite expensive when they do come up and there's no way I'm going to be able to convince my wife that it's worth spending more than the cost of components on, so just the schematic or even an idea of what the pins in the plug go to would be great and would create a fun little project. Thanks.
3. I'd quite like a Behinger PL 2000, the Rack Light, Power thingumy. But I only have 5 or 6 cm space in the front of my rack case cover and I'm not sure that it's going to fit. I have looked everywhere for info on how far the light sticks out but have had no luck, so I thought I'd ask here: Does anyone have one and can tell me how far the light sticks out? Thanks.
4.
Here's my current rig and pedal board. The signal splits after the stereo chorus, so that the bottom end goes through the volume pedal into the 1x15" cabinet. I've just bought a Boss DD-7 delay pedal and I'm looking at the MXR M82 Envelope Filter, as the DOD is getting a bit tired. I'm also considering a Digitech Bad Monkey for the 'treble' side of the effects chain, but it seems to really polarise opinion - it's either the greatest distortion ever or not even a good doorstop. I can feel a visit to a guitar shop coming on! 24th March - I took the plunge and bought a Bad Monkey pedal, and it's fab! I haven't built it into my signal chain yet, but it sound pretty cool on its own.. I've read elsewhere that it sucks tone even when its off, but I can't hear a huge difference. Distorted chorus anyone?
How far does the light stick out on the Behringer PL2000? I'd quite like one but I only have about 5 or 6cm space in the front cover of my rack case and I'm worried it won't fit. I have been unable to find anywhere with the relevant information.
5. Thanks for the advice! I have spent most of today failing to replicate the fault. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing... Still, I shall go ahead and give it all a clean out anyway. I have a little more confidence thanks to your comments.
6. I recently bought an old Peavey 410TX but it has a problem (other than the ugly flames someone has painted on the front...). At certain frequencies, it farts. I'm fairly certain that it's the L-Pad causing the problem, when I turn the knob on the back it sounds like opening a rusty gate. So I'm going to have a go at reconditioning it myself. I do have some experience with electronics and have relevant testing equipment. But I thought I would ask here if anyone else has had any experience with the insides of this cab, or any cab likely to have the same insides, as it's too late in the evening to start now (I've never had a complaint form the neighbours but I don't want to upset them). I'm hoping that just cleaning stuff up will do the trick, but if it doesn't are the parts that might need replacing readily available? Such as the rusty sounding L-Pad. I am assuming that it's just a large version of a standard pot, so I can open up the pot it's self to clean the inside of it. I'd rather not be told just to ditch it and get something better... If the worst comes to the worst I shall just bypass the crossover and not bother with the tweeter, which would be a shame. Thanks for reading and for any help you can offer.
7. If only I wasn't poor right now! This was the first Bass I ever owned and I was a damned sight poorer when I had to sell it. I really miss it and would sell a testicle to own another.
8. I have an Aria Pro II MAB-20/5 (1991). It is 15mm at the bridge and about 9mm at the nut. I've always found it really easy to play and I've got pretty chunky fingers. I recently got myself something with 19mm spacing though. It took a couple of hours to get used to, but in some ways it's is easier to play. So I think it's worth trying a few different ones and really taking your time with each one to be sure.
9. £1 for 3mm Big Stubbies. I was doing the rounds of the local(ish) guitar shops for the first time since moving here. I had been in a few shops that didn't stock them, so, as gutted as I was at the price, I bought 3 (usually buy half a dozen at a time, and usually only 60p each). The very next shop I went into had them for 60p each, but, as I ended up buying a Bass while I was in there, he gave me some for free!
