  1. Excellent as always, thanks for putting this together and sharing.
  2. Mine has arrived, 2 days early and so far I'm loving it. Tried @Al Krow settings and they are bang on out of the box so a huge thank you for that. My old Octave pedal was a Behringer one and they are quite different, enough to make me think about keeping both on my pedalboard. The Boss OC-5 is very clean, tracks amazing and is like playing your usual bass line but with a very clean octave sound, perhaps even subtle but very articulate. The Behringer is more like a big fat, wall of bass, even quite orchestral at times and can add massive lows. It's more like a sub bass at times and I tend to turn it on when I hit my very last note on some songs to add a really big fat wall of bass that I let ring out. The annoying thing with the Behringer was the tracking wasn't great at times, it could be a bit hit or miss and you had to have it set at either low, mid or high octave. Not great if you were starting with low notes and then playing something high. The Boss just tracks whatever so that's a huge plus for me. So The Boss can now be used for everything and if I want to add a big low fat bass sound, I will just kick the Behringer in. Happy days

    Limelight

I had a Limelight bass made a few years ago and the experience was mixed. Dealing with Mark was very easy with good communications. However from the deposit to delivery, it took just under a year to make which is a lot longer than the 12 - 16 weeks I was told. Some of this was partly down to the wrong neck being ordered for it so I had to wait for the correct neck to be ordered and fitted. When the bass did arrive the case was ripped which I informed Mark about and he refunded me £15. More worryingly, the bass was cutting in and out, the volume and tone pots were crackling and there was a huge hum when no part of the bass was being touched. I informed Mark who suggested I take it to a luthier and he will pay for the repair. I did this and it turned out the bass was not earthed correctly. So after waiting 10 months, it went straight in to the luthier which was disappointing. I then got it back a few weeks later and it was ok but similar issues started to happen so back to the luthier and we fitted new pots and jack socket which completely fixed the issue. Once getting it back, it was fine for a little while but then the neck started to play up and I couldn't adjust the action any more so back to the luthier again and he managed to sort it. We also found there was no adjustability under the pickups so this was rectified as well so pickup height could be adjusted. After all that work, the bass then played beautifully ever since but after paying just under £1200 for the bass, having to wait nearly a year for it to then turn up not working with a damaged case and then 3 trips to the luthier to make it right, I'd lost the love of the bass and sold it. I did manage a few gigs with it and it played lovely but in my head I was done. The new owner as far as I know is also very happy with the bass. I know a lot of people have bought Limelight basses and they have been absolutely fine with no issues whatsoever so I do put myself down to being unlucky in this instance or I'd just bought a lemon. Disappointing but these things happen from time to time so don't let my experience put you off buying one and as I say, Mark was fine to deal with.
  4. I think that neck is lined and I play unlined but it was a good idea, thank you.
  5. HAHAHA
  6. No, I totally agree with you, I'm just frustrated that there are no options, even if it means paying £250 extra to get a fretless neck then so be it, we are a minority or small percentage who play fretless so if we have to pay then I am sure we would. Its not like they don't already make a fretless neck for the SR range so why not make a fretless neck available as an option for other SR basses even if its special order and you have to pay extra for it. I've already had to get a luthier to make me fretless necks for two of my basses and this would probably be my only option again if I wanted another fretless bass. I know I am totally in a minority, just a bit frustrated at the lack of options, especially as I have GAS for an Ibanez
  7. Amazing, thank you very much, really appreciate it and thanks for the good wishes.
  8. Would you mind sharing your settings for this clip. My pedal arrives on Saturday and I have a gig in the evening so having a quick starting point would be a really big help
  9. I absolutely adore the look of this bass but there are two issues I have with it. The first is it is not fretless and for me to need it to be fretless, it would need either a rosewood/ebony/pau ferro board. If it had those two things then I would be all over this. As with most manufacturers it seem these days, the choice of fretless and unlined fretless is pretty much limited to non-existent. I get unlined fretless is not as popular but I wouldn't even mind paying extra if it was even an option. Oh well, more money in my pocket and a great cure for GAS
  10. I enjoyed that, thanks for sharing.
  11. Thank you so much, been waiting months for one of these so now managed to order one. I owe you a beer sir 😁
  12. 50s - Fender Precision 60s - Gibson EB3 70s - Fender Jazz 80s - Stingray or Wal 90s - Warwick 00s - Lakland 10s - Fender Mustang
  13. One of these is top of my list as well although I also hear really good things about the Keeley Bassist pedal.
  14. I've been playing for 35 years and I still couldn't tell you what the Ampeg sound is and I've even had an Ampeg amp.
  15. I have an ESP 400 Series Jazz from the same period and probably built in the same factory as this Tokai and Japanese Fenders. My ESP is about 35 years old and massively naturally road worn and has lots of dents that have not come through to the expose the wood. These Japanese bases are tough cookies.
  16. I have an amazing fretless Stingray with Pau Ferro board and I still toy with the idea of getting one of these. They are gorgeous.
  17. My main bass is usually medium to high quality, so an American Fender Jazz/Precision, standard or Vintage Reissue, Music Man Stingray, German Warwick Streamer etc. Then my backup's or others tend to be something that's playable but cheaper, so a nice Mexican or Japanese Fender etc. They are not necessarily poorer in there ability, just financially less but still good enough to be played if I fancy playing something now and again rather than my main bass. My current line up is a Music Man Stingray SR4 Fretless as my main bass and then I have a Mexican Fender Precision 70's Reissue and an Japanese ESP 400 Series Jazz. The Stingray is worth about £2k and he backup's are worth about £700 each. All perfect and all very playable. However, I have been thinking about getting a much cheaper backup bass, something like a Squire Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz as most of the time I play my Stingray and the backup just sits on the side looking pretty. Seems silly dragging a half decent bass out to sit on the side rarely to be played.
  18. My three fretless beauties. Top: Fender Precision 70's ressiue with American Vintage Pickups and custom Shuker maple neck finished in high gloss. Sounds fantastic and is beautiful to play. Middle: ESP 400 Series Jazz with Bartolini pickups and custom Shuker ebony neck. Made in Japan in the mid 80's at the Fender factory and is basically a Japanese 60's Reissue Fender Jazz. Bottom: Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray with Pau Ferro neck.
  19. I quite like that, wouldn't mind it myself actually. I have an ESP 400 Series Jazz from around 86 and it's a great instrument.
  20. I love playing vinyl, I love picking up old original jazz records and listening to them how they were originally intended. They sound absolutely fabulous on my system, warm, rich and full of character. To me this is what vinyl is all about. I don't really buy any new releases as it's a bit pointless but I have bought a few older 80' albums or some of the half speed remaster's and they have sounded great.
  21. That's the amazing Derek Forbes but he was having a bit of an off day at the beginning
  22. It does have a lovely tone. What's with the head movement thing though, it seems odd like its not normal or its some part of the act???
  23. Gorgeous tone though, just everything else about it is so very wrong.
  24. Here you go He just seemed to love playing them and Vigier even made him a few custom models
  25. That's reminded me, I think Derek Forbes also switched to fretless Vigier, possibly when he was playing in Propaganda. I should of remembered, I only interviewed him once and we talked about it and why he chose Vigier and not another manufacturer like Warwick, Ernie Ball etc. hahaha I do remember those basses as well, I think @ped or @Dood on here played one???
