Hi All,
Now sold and on its way to France :-) Thanks to all of you that showed interest.
For sale is my Warwick Thumb bolt on from 2003. I bought it September last year from Ollie73 in Belgium. See the link below.
http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1821686
Very good condition (9.5/10) as I cant find any dings or scratches. Active / passive 9v electronics. Ovangol neck & body with wenge fretboard. Fitted with a Just-A-Nut3. I've only ever used it at home and practice so it should go to someone who will really use it more. Comes with a hard case that has the usual knocks, dints and scratches (thats their job!) Serial number is L-102655-03.
Nice playing bass with great sounds. Why am I selling? Well its the usual.... I've seen something else that I'm interested in and need the dosh to fund it I'm looking for cash or bank transfer. Shipping is extra - I've used a local company that will do fully insured UK delivery for about £50. Please see my signature for feedback.
Now the sexy pics......

dont some cabs have a bulb wired into the tweeter? to stop it blowing
Yes. SWR Goliath cabs have a bulb to act as a "fuse" to save the tweeter. Not sure if Ashdown do. -
Owtus Zeds....again imagine it said by Johnny Vegas.
-
Fit like?
-
I find we practice better and more productively at lower volumes 'cos its easier to hear what everyone is doing.
-
6.05pm tonight I placed an order for a new Genz amp .........6.38pm you placed this ad ...... my timing on this just wasn't right. If only......
Good luck with the sale. -
Bought a Smith 25th Ann from Harry. Good comms and well packed bass.
I'm now off to practice on it (Lord knows I need to!) -
Howdy do from Aberdeen!
-
Sold to the man they call Harry

Honestly....it was brilliant. The tone, the style, the groove.....just sublime.
Yes the bass duet did get a bit excessive, but hey, it was in the moment with both MK an LG really going for it. I've never seen MK sweat so much trying to keep up with LG. It looked like he was on the verge of cardiac arrest!
What counts for me is what's played...how it is played doesn't matter so much. The music was great

Yip...agreed! I was there last night and it was rather good -
Up for sale is my Ken Smith BSR6EG Limited Edition 6 string. The serial number shows it was number 3 of 8 limited edition basses that Ken made. Here’s a link to his website: http://www.kensmithb...tededition.html
It completed manufacture in Sept 2001 and I bought it in April 2004. I used it exclusively for the first 5 years and then started to get back into 5'ers. It has been gigged (as it should be!) and its condition is at least 9.5 out of 10! I have taken great care of it and can only find very minor marks / swirls where your hand goes….so minor I couldn’t photo them. This is an exceptional bass in build, looks, condition, sound, playability etc. It needs a new home and someone to play it regularly!
Heres the specs:
Highly Figured Tiger Maple Top & Back
Body - walnut core with mahogany laminates
7-piece maple / bubinga through neck
Ebony headstock overlay
High gloss finish
Gold hardware
Smith 9v active electronics – vol, pan, bass, mid, treble
Series / parallel switch for each pickup
6 string – 34” scale
Nut width – 54mm
Width at 12[sup]th[/sup] fret – 79mm
Weight 11lbs / 5kgs
It comes with the original Smith hard case (in very good condition) and a Smith strap.
In 2001 the bass sold new for $6,600. After inflation, the equivalent price today would be about $8,500! As it is a collectors item and limited I’m looking for £3,150 o.n.o plus shipping. Payment would be by cash or bank transfer before shipment. I might be interested in trades, 5 strings only….try me.
I would prefer collection but as I live in Aberdeen that’s going to be a problem to most buyers so I am willing to courier. I have shipped similar basses, insured within the UK for approx £60. Overseas shipping would have to be agreed first.
I have traded a number of basses on this site and E-bay and have excellent feedback for both – see my signature for links. Any questions you have, please ask away.
Now for the pics....
I might just regret this...... -
As others have said, a good set up can change an OK bass into a good bass - both playability and sound. No point in fighting your bass, you might as well make learning etc as easy as possible. Heres a link for instructions on how to do a set up.....

Theres no marketing gumph associated with this download so you dont recieve lots of mails afterwards. I've always done my own set-ups for years and I found the book well worth every penny it didnt cost
If you're ever near Aberdeen I might be able to help. -
Which model is it and how do you propose shipping?
-
How many basses is too many basses?
.......always 2 more than you already have....lol -

There's an alembic 5 string on eBay being sold by tesco outlet or something. Click on description and it says a buy it now price for £1200, for a series model!!! Mmmmm I don't think so. Pristine and stunning is somehow they describe it. Be very wary folks, I reckon:-/

Looks like the "seller" is still allowed to participate in E-bay even though they have been reported sooooo many times......
Heres a previous thread....http://basschat.co.uk/topic/196012-has-got-to-be-too-good-to-be-true/page__fromsearch__1 -
On the back of the pots there are usually some metal wrap over tabs that hold the assembly together. I have found by GENTLY tapping or pressing on them it can tighten the controls. Just remember to do it a little at a time and evenly on all tabs, other wise.....

If you're thinking of walking around the place, be prepared for strange looks from the locals......"Jeez Wilma......look at that......its.......er what do they call them people now?.....Thats it.......a pedestrian!.......Havent seen one o'them round here since the fifties....."

Hi,
It all depends where you are staying and whether you have a car. If you dont then taxis can be quite expensive and a pain. There's several Guitar Centre's in Houston - one north of the Beltway on I-45, one on Westheimer, near South Voss Road (this ones the best), one in Pasadena (Fairmont Parkway) and one in Clearlake, south of Houston off the _45 on Nasa Road 1.
Evans Music City - on Westheimer near Guitar Centre
Music-Go-Round - I-45 South
Rockin Robins
Danny D's - South of Houston
Texas Music Emporium - I-45 North near Guitar Centre - sometimes has Ken Smith basses in there.
If you have time to go out to Austin there is the Bass Emporium which although they have a wide range of very nice basses, I personally found the customer service to be sadly lacking....
Darn it......you've made me want to go on a tour of Houston music shops now......

Also isnt HE joining YOUR band?
This sounds like Hell

I'm not quite sure what the negative side is of this.....
Option 1) Go and see some of your favourite bands in the British "summer" whilst stood in the middle of some muddy field, eating dodgy food and having to negotiate the "lavatories" and kipping in a damp tent....
OR
Option 2) Go and see some of your favourite bands in the sunshine (I needed to check the dictionary for the meaning of this word...lol), eat good food, clean lavs, good sleep and meet the guys up close....
I'm going on holiday soon and will probably have to do some serious searching to find good live music of the non "Agadoooo" variety....lol. The "Muso-Cruiso" option sounds more appealing.
