1. I've recently bought a Wood & Tronics Chronos which I'm really happy with. However the techie / geek / engineer in me wants to know what the pre-amp is installed in it. Its got a switch and an adjustment pot - what do they do?

I've been in touch with the good people at W&T and they basically said "No idea, looks like a retrofit". Tried a couple of previous owners (thanks guys) but they dont know either.

Heres a piccy of the unit which is stuck in place and covered in a plastic shrink wrap type material. If you know what it is and can let me know you can award yourself a gold medal for services to bass geekery :D Thanks.

The slug tape probably won't have conductive adhesive, so you'll need to solder across all the joins, but apart from that it's cheap and good (and normally even cheaper on eBay).

Never thought about the adhesive needing to be conductive. Guess I was lucky. It made a mahoosive difference to my jazz as it liked to hum along very loudly to any tune I played :D ....now its silent.

from talking to Master Sei once, he said if I remember ok that he stopped the serial numbers around 96/97...
Does that mean he stopped the numbers at No96 / No97 or 1996 / 1997?

Thanks for the offer but I'm looking for 5 string fretted versions of possibly another Sei or a Wal. I also have a Smith 6 BSR6EG that at some point I want to change for a Smith 5'er.

  6. As it says on the tin....*SOLD*

I've decided to sell one of my basses to help fund a bout of GAS thats setting in :D For sale is my Sei 6 string fretted neck thru. Its the Flamboyant style shape with burl facings, birdseye maple board, ACG electronics (EQ02 http://www.acguitars...rod&productId=9) and Bartolini pickups.

I'm not sure of the year of manufacture. As far as I know Martin only numbered the first few basses he made and as this is number 69 so I would guess its over 10 years old.

Its great condition for its age and there are only a few slight indents / marks (hard to see) on the bass 9.5/10. The only scratches / dings are a smalll one on the front edge of the headstock tip (can bee seen in the pic below) and the varnish has cracked slightly on the battery cover where someone has been a bit too "enthusiastic" when tightening it up. If you want any more pics just let me know.

The bass is a great player with a neck slimmer than a lot of 4's out there. Sad to see it go but..... well you know the story :) The action on the Sei is pretty low with no dead spots as far as I can tell and has 18mm string spacing.

I'm looking for £1,450 ono or maybe trade for something tasty with 5 strings. I'd prefer a UK sale but might consider international. The bass will be shipped in a hardcase (not the one in the pic).

I've got a feedback link in my signature and also my Ebay feedback is 100% (under Acebassmusic)

    Cheers,

    Mike

I know you all like pics so here's some :D
