2. Yeah but at the end of the day i will look back at me cube and be saying i'm sorry as it weeps whilst i play through a different combo of betrayal! plus complecated is fun

You can listen to all the advice in the world but in the end you'll go with what you fancy and learn from your own experience. I'm like you, I do like a guarantee, I've never bought second hand stuff that hasn't developed some sort of trouble and you have no comeback do you? Just a sense that a bit of saving up first and you could have got the real deal.
thats exactly what i mean, on the off chance that there is a manufacturing fault that may not have yet reared it's ugly head in a second hand amp i'm stuffed but in a new amp i've got a garantee for 3 years or so that will cover me if there are faults or if it's just plain crap.

    Home build 3

that looks like a masterpiece in the making, i want to try to make a bass from raw timber one day with a oak body (yes nice and heavy ) but i'm scared of cocking up so i haven't really felt inthused to do so.
  6. I've had a lot of physics explained to me over the past 2 days, one of them being, you only need a 100 watt amp to drive a 500 watt speaker however, my cube as it turn out is only 28watt RMS, meaning it's not actually 100watt, it's just a really efficiant 30watt amp. If i were to want to use the 1000watt behringer cab without blowing it up or using it inefficiantly i would need a 200watt amp, behringers ultrabass head is 409 watt RMS meaning your stack would need to be a minimum of 2020watts combined to be running, this is apparently because of the safety room required to avoid blowing up valuable equipment, the reviews are mixed, but can i trust them anyway? i don't know what people have tried them with, if they were using the correct impedance or too powerfull an amp for their stack at full volume constantly. was the rig up a against the wall and unable to get enough air to areas that required it for cooling? was the room very very dusty? I've decided that i'm going to do this properly. i'm using the cube, and a 100watt amp then i'm going to get a new 500watt amp, why not second hand? simply because i want to try everything straight from the factory and if stuff goes wrong to have a garrantee to fall back on, i'm not after appreciation of value, if i was i would buy a house (not in britian however with it's iminent price crash that all politicians are denying) this project is officially on hold untill i get some money together.

  8.
guess you're going to have to try it.
I guess I am if it doesn't work what i'll do is buy a head and have a chain from my bass to the cube to the head to the cab, so the sube is effectively an effects box with a speaker, that would work.... right?
  9. I've used the cube twice alone live and it was hearable (just) on 3/4 volume in a gym filled with 200 people and an insane drummer and guitarist so it is quite punchy, i just want to make it louder lol, it's not much to ask stupid physics!
  10. thats one fine looking bass
  11. what cabs? is there a link? i can't find one if there is
  12.
actually I was only half-joking when I wrote that- have you seen the Fender Eddie Van Halen Frankenstrat? http://www.evhgear.com/frankenstein/ they were charging $25,000 for that piece of...er...fine craftsmanship
I thought you where meant to slowly "customize" or destroy your own guitar over time not buy one pre-wrecked!!!
  13. hahaha, thats gonna cost too much! surely if you have 100watts and a ttach a cab that has 4 speakers you are getting 100watts worth through all the speakers?
  14.
How many watts does your Cube kick out?
my cube is 100watts

  19. no not really, because you don't just like or dislike someones playing,do you? no one does, you might like them up to a certain point and then get tired of them, or find that they're repetetive after a while, or even the listener has developed beyond the artist who inspired them. the fact that people on this site are critisizing these artist is an indication that they have improved and found perhaps pieces of music that they feel could have been more detailed or better written, critisism is a way of learning and improving, if no one critisized the people who inspired them then we wouldn't have safe cars, good bass amplifiers, mobile phones, mp3 players, running water. you know why? because all these thing were produced by someone boldly saying to someone, WOW thats really good, but i can make it better.

  22.
Lets face it - its easy to 'bitch'...as musicians we should be grateful for the people who inspired us to become who we are or certainly the voice we are continuously trying to find. If we outgrow something, appreciate it for what it is/what it meant at the time. As for stuff that gets 'rammed' down our throats - I think the media are the people you should be moaning at. These musicians didn't ask to be put on a pedestool, and without the exposure, who knows we may not have heard of them or been inspired in the first place. I could be working in a job I hate if it wasn't for all the players who are getting slagged off. Time to check ourselves ladies and gentlemen - I do believe the bass community was supposed to be more supportive than the guitarist one (not mentioning any 'lightbulb' jokes.)
Yeah but they're rich and famous and probably couldn't give a sh*t what we think anyway! The bass community is supportive, but being supportive is different to liking or disliking someones music, for example i could think one of my friends music taste and style of playing was totally stale and a bit rubbish but i would still support him and thats the same here, i'm sure there are people on here who play a totally different style to me that i don't particularly like, that doesn't mean that all of a sudden i'm going to just be totally non-supportive towards any decision they make be it good or bad. get what i'm saying?
