Cheers jack, got so many conflicting suggestions, as cab is 600 w 8 ohms and amp 1000 w at 8 ohms , even Alex at barefaced suggested amp at 4ohms. Apparently BF have had very few drivers blown but of the ones that have 20% have been with terror 1000 watt

So basically, it's ok to do so for rehearsal where the full volume not required?

Cheers Stew, what I have been told is, if its on 8 ohms, same as cab, it will deliver 1000 watts into the 600 watt cab, but if it's on 4 ohms, it will deliver less wattage therefore will be ok to do so.

Greetings, I'm sure this has been done to death elsewhere, but please be gentle with me! I have recently obtained an Orange Terror 1000 from The Honourable Stew Black of this parish. I will be running it through two gen 2 compacts (600 w each 8 ohms) however. I have been informed that, with switch set to 4ohms, for rehearsal, I could play it through one cab without damaging cab, I will just get reduced output. I have also been told this is wrong ! Can anyone give me a definitive answer? Thanks chaps.

Hi dude, yeah, tried the loop one, suggested by Jeff Genzler, no avail I am afraid.

Have an gig Saturday, and will be using both compacts, will see how it goes. trying to purchase another amp from here, but not much luck so far. ill need another amp really by end of month.

crackly gain knob and cutting out cured. (wd40 lol) however, with both gain volume and master at full, still need gain switch to 9 o'clock position to be heard above my admittedly loud guitarists.

Lesson learned sadly, but would still love to know what may be causing the volume issues.

Ok, I use a streamliner 900 and 2 x Barefaced gen 2 compacts,. I had very low volume using the amp and one cab for rehearsal. So, started with guitar itself, had it serviced by a pro. came back great. changed instrument and speakon cables. tried other basses, still same issue. Spoke to Jeff Genzler via email, he suggested checking out valves. so, after giving pots a bit of a squirt with WD40, and swapping around valves, same issue. He then suggested replacing valves, which I did with a matching set of cryo valves from Watford valves. Next rehearsal with our admittedly loud guitarists playing just through their fold-back monitors, I struggled to match their volume. only way I could was with gain button in, gain at about 9 o'clock and both volume switched at full. Any ideas? Jeff said I could return it to the states for them to look at, bit extreme really.

Thats a plan! I dont have/use Audacity but can do the same on a Tascam unit I have. Cheers dude

Hi all, hope you can help. And before anyone starts, no, I cant read sheet music, I cant make out bass line from song, I started playing very late in life, so rely quite a lot on tabs. Sorry to the purists. That said, does anyone have tabs for Bon Jovi Raise your hands? I cant find any at all. Thanks guys, any help most appreciated.

I am 65 next week, been playing in my current band for six years, previous one for two, I started to learn to play Bass at age 57, when a bunch of guys in my local formed a band just for fun, told me they had no intention of gigging. after first session, told me they had fibbed, and had a gig in six weeks! I had to learn from scratch, not looked back since. So go for it Dude, never too old.
