    If it is a Fender and as described then it sounds like an early 90's rather than 80's. However the S/n was still on the headstock. Without a picture you are unlikely to know what this is. Steve

    My 79P has EMG's, (active with the active bit in the pickup not on a seperate board), and the sound is fantastic! Out of all my basses it is my one of choice. The bad news is that I have a bad back and because the 79 weigh's a lot I have had to retire it.

    Thanks Nigel, it is always good to sell an instrument to someone you know is going to enjoy using it! I must admit I get as much pleasure out of letting people play the 59 as I do owning it! Steve

    It was good to meet with you Nigel, and share some of the interest we have in Bass and Guitars. Hope you enjoy the Spirit and I am glad it is going to at long last be used rather than stored. If anyone wants to know, Nigel is a top guy!

    Less than a day to get a bargain and then it will be on Ebay at a starting price of £400, I have already had an email from a basschater that has just sold one of these on ebay for £600.

    ********Update******* Lots of interest but no buyer here so it will be put up on Ebay with a starting price of £400 tommorow, so if you want it for £375 collected then you have about 20hrs *********************** Just about to put this up on Flea bay but thought I would see if anyone here is interested. I have used this since new in my music room for drummers to use, (cannot play myself!). I upgraded it with a couple of extra drum pads including the snare upgrade. This has served me well and cost over £1k when I bought it, I have now moved up to the Roland TD10, (yes I know I spoil these drummers), so the TD6 needs a new home. I will be looking to get around £400 on Ebay, but would be willing to let it go for £375 to a Basschat member if it hasn't been snapped up on Flea bay. The one I prefer to play is my Black 79P but I have back problems and it is too heavy at the moment. I have used the original 59P before but most of my gigs nowdays do not warrant using a 50 year old Bass that I would have to keep an eye on all the time. Steve

And thanks for all the offers but I am not looking for a trade, the idea is to downsize my rather large collection to the ones I play, and the ones that are part of my musical history. Looks like I am keeping it for a bit longer, but I will play it now and again just so it does not become one of those Uncle guitars

I have had a number of interested parties but no takers so it looks like I will be keeping it for a while longer, I think it deserves better than the sharks on evil bay.

Not too bothered if it does not sell as the price will most likely only go one way up, but if someone wants it and it is a reasonable offer, (not a silly price), then I will let it go purely because I am downsizing my collection and happy to take a bit of profit on what I paid for it a couple of years ago. That way it is as close as you can get. Joe is a real craftsman when it comes to this sort of thing!
