1. Nick bought an SR4 from me, paid by cheque very very quickly, was very patient while waiting for it to clear and be delivered, friendly and communicative, thoroughly nice chap to deal with!

  2.
Maplin sell acoustic wadding for speaker cab stuffing/tuning. I imagine other places sell it too, and probably cheaper.

Just ripped out the inside of an old cheap pillow, it worked well! Just make sure you stick it down with lots of glue otherwise you could have all sorts of problems once there's a lot of air being pushed around...
Thanks guys

  3.
I'm pretty sure that is the amp section of a combo in a home made sleeve. Potentially nothing wrong with that. But if you're new to amps, walk away.
Yep, that's what it looks like to me too! The guts from a kickback, you can see where the amp model has been 'marker-penned' out on the right of the photo! Avoid

Hartke are v good tho, I used to have a stack with HA3500 and 2 of the alu coned 4.5XL 4x10s, sounded really good, traded up to Eden after that and then on to Phil Jones for a reduced size with a similar kick...

Yep, you can see the soapbar bartolini pickups in your photo...

  5. I like meaningless/helpful derogatory fun!

things I hate / have grown to hate over the years...

Ashdown - am well on the bandwagon there! flabby and gritty nastiness with pointless Spinal Tap 'how fast are you playing meter'
Mark-Bass - sorry guys, flappy, farty rubbish - cabs and amps
G&L basses, sound lovely with brand new strings but sound exactly like soggy cardboard when strings are 2 days old!

    that is all...for now :) :)

  6. a mate of mine (Martin) worked for Matamp as a builder and is now going solo http://www.martamp.com/ he mostly does all valve guitar amps but he does do nice cab builds too...ask him for a quote (and a timescale - he's usually quite busy), lovely guy though.

  7.
No bass collection is ever complete without:
    1) Fender jazz
    2) Fender precision
    3) MusicMan Thingray
    4) Rickenbacker 4001/3
    5) Decent Yamaha workhorse
    6) Custom Fodera 5-string.
Now its just a question of which order you get them in.
I've had four out of the six (several of each in fact), will likely never have a Fodera and haven't ever tried a yam that I liked...maybe one of the ones that myung used to play might be ok I suppose?

  8.
They won't pay out even if you pay for the insurance - musical instruments are explicitly excluded from enhanced compensation. Do yourself a favour and boycott ParcelForce - they are absolutely no use to you, the insurance mis-selling gits.
I never knew that! I'm shocked and disgusted!!

    http://www2.parcelforce.com/send-worldwide...ns/prohibitions

It's right there but they don't tell you at the post office counter!!

    Appalling!!

  9. simple thought to throw in...

bass - essentially for single notes (with a bit of chording)
guitar - chords ahoy (with a bit of single note stuff)

2 different beasts for 2 different purposes even with the tonal crossover?
