Thank you kind Sirs... And yes, we will be doing something in the mid-price J area in the not too distant future - but not quite sure what as yet!
Chris
Any plans for a 6 string? -
I've been looking around for PLI recently for exactly the same reason as the OP. I would love to know if anyone has any suggestions of companies that will insure a band rather than individuals? As we're an 11 piece this makes it pretty unfeasible!
We are only 7 but we're looking at... http://www.performingartsinsurance.co.uk/ -
Sweeet!
I watched the glasto gig and thought you rocked matey! -
thanks guys, I'll ask for clarification of the cover required but will then go and get some.
thanks again! -
Hiya all,
Not sure where to put this but as it's gig related I'll stick it here until told otherwise
Our band are playing a wedding evening do for some friends at a new (to us) venue (cutlers hall in Sheffield), the venue are requiring us to take out public liability insurance up to £5million, has anyone else had to do this? Is this standard for venues? or is this onerous and to be challenged?
The Gravity picks from Cali phenomenon she setup and yes they are great.
She is a trustworthy and genuine person and posted them to me a.s.a.p. upon receiving them.
Dont hesitate to deal with her.

Yep, same deal, gravity picks, I took a punt and she did the biz, all smartly and swiftly organised!
Thanks Mel! -
An update on this - I just swapped by 2x112s for a lovely Eden 410 (about 15yrs old I think) and it is SO much louder. It sounds absolutely amazing actually - beautiful tone across the spectrum with the WTX500. I guess the Eden + Aguilar combo was just unlucky for me!
A very pleasing result! -
Yep, ebs nice!

hav been offered a really really good price p/x by Alex at the Gallery against an NS NXT4...thinking to do!
This looks a lot like the one I sold a while back.......if it is it's a cracking bass and would still be with me if I was any good live with a 5
Arrite matey!
I bought it from a chappie in London called Joe, it is a cracking bass though, I've used it a couple of times and it's really rich sounding! What I really wanted when I bought it was an EUB so I should have just got one instead of allowing GAS to steer my purchase. -
Withers not too tough (on bass)
I don't mind it being tricky, I love wither, it would help if it kinda fit with wedding evening do's though...(should've mentioned that before ) -
we play all right now and i spent ages listening again and again to the outro bit...
when the band suggested 'club tropicana' by wham I nearly called a cab but when I listened to it, the bassline is v v cool and took some time to work out and then sound slick, I love playing it now.
'my generation' has been mentioned and so has 'you can call me al'...am always up for a challenge!
I'm still looking for a dream theater song we can use as the first in the second set to get people's attention back... -
Glad to hear that this is being sorted however it does make me question the competence of the Gallery in understanding the equipment they sell.
...it doesn't seem quite right does it, Alex had assumed that one side was out only, when I pointed out that this was electrically very difficult he agreed and then looked puzzled...
"Alex Carter is the manager of The Gallery. After five successful years as manager of the Bass Centre Alex joined The Gallery in 2003.
In addition to being an expert bass player he has extensive contacts within the music industry and has developed the portfolio of well known and highly regarded esoteric instruments, amplifiers and accessories from around the globe.
No matter what you require, Alex is the person to guide you to your next purchase"
Both times I've been in there he's been cheerful but has seemed a bit harrassed, maybe his concentration is not so good just now? -
so...
It was a faulty batch from Epifani, they're sending over the replacement parts for the whole lot (mine included), my cab will be collected from me and returned post haste repaired...I do mercifully have a gap between gigs coming up which will fit nicely -
Up for potential sale or trade is my Musicman Stingray 5 Fretless in Trans Red with original OHSC and a couple of bits of case candy (allen key for bridge saddles, polishing cloth)...
What to say, it's really nice to play, sounds nice and warm, I put a set of Rotosound flats on it when I got it earlier this year, there are no noticeable marks on it (fingerboard or body) that I can recall (will check later though)...
It's not getting played so I'm thinking about moving it on...Offers? Trades? I'd like either an EUB (NS Designs NXT4 perhaps?) or WHY? -
Free bump cos I want one but haven't the cash...
-
Stingray are always.more the volume of a passive than an active, not the loudest of preamps, mebbe that's part of why they sound so cool?
-
I've played (in roughly reverse chronological order - new to old):
Stingrays (4 & 5 string), Fender USA Jazz, G&L L2000, Fender USA Precision, Warwick Thumb Thru Neck 5, Rickenbacker 4001s, Tobias Growler 5 and a few oddities (70's Jap Jazz copy, Samick Active 5 String, Hohner PJ Fretless, Aria Legend PJ)
all of them in covers band/indie band/blues band/church scenarios, they've all sounded like me (at least at the time) and as time has passed 'me' has developed along with the set-list and my abilities... -
Wrong actually, what you're describing is a member of "men at work"
Or the village people maybe... -
I've had 2 and they're v nice
I dont feel comfortable with all this.
If i brought a new cab and it didnt work (again) i would insist on a new one that did, or a refund. If the cab has to travel to London, sit in a workshop and then travel back who knows how long that will take and what damage it might receive (not at the Gallery of course).
I would expect at least a loaner cab while it was away.
I don't want to push too hard cos they did me a magnificent p/x price and I think I have to give them an opportunity to put it right before I request a refund/replacement but I do obviously really need a cab in the time between! -
I know this is a bad situation but those cabs are so good they will be worth the wait. And later on, 2 will sound wonderful.
Thanks matey, I do love the sound and am really looking forward to hearing 2 together at some point!
Anyone wanna buy a Les Paul Studio common/garden electric guitar?
We have discussed a six string and are working on a prototype and about to send bridge drawings to hardware manufacturer. I'm sure not when we will bring it out as a standard model - but we may well do it as a Special Edition in limited numbers in the not too distant future - will keep you posted..
Chris
Sounds fab, thanks Chris
