MWH: Why am I selling it? - I need the money (I won't bore you with the details) and this is the best bass I have. So hoping it is therefore worth the most. If it doesn't sell, I'll be moving down to try the next one. Pre-owned? - Well sort of, but not quite. It was a trade show instrument and had no other owners apart from the Japanese retailers. This might also explain its unique feature, namely the marble effect scratch plate. My assumption is that this was a special produced for the trade show, something a lot of manufacturers seem to do. Almost all the Atelier Z Baby Z basses I've seen have clear plastic scratch plates. I think this one looks much cooler. Gunsfreddy2003: Yes, the quality of workmanship is superb. Nice range of sounds too, with the P-J pickups, active electronics, and the passive switch.

Well, Mike, that's a wicked improv. with the SWB-1. A guitarist friend of mine suggested something similar for mine, but not as fancy as yours. In the end I sold mine rather than add to it. I can see that you would have the same issue with the SG. Also if you won the lottery and was considering an Alembic, it would seem to be the same. BTW, Atelier got back to me with a date - the BabyZ was made June 2014. I'll update the sale page.

[size=2]Mike, I can't find a definitive source for dating, e.g. from serial numbers, but this was sold as new in early 2016, so I would hazard that it was made in 2014/15[/size].[i] - update: made in June 2014 according to Atelier.[/i] As for the strap balance, the top strap button aligns with the twelfth fret, so it hangs pretty much conventionally I would say. It sits easily on a shallow diagonal across the body, head higher, which is the way I wear it. It is very similar to my Warwick Corvette short scale that also has the strap button adjacent to the twelfth fret, with the Atelier maybe slightly leaning more down to the left because of the larger head (I'm not talking about neck-dive - there isn't any). The Scott Whitley short scale (which I believe you have, Mike) has the top strap button way to the right of this and will only sit horizontally, or even head down, which never did suit me. Hope this helps.

Hi, The nut has slightly chamfered/angles at each side. But using my trusty tape measure I still read 35, maybe 36mm allowing for that. To compare I measured my Warwick Corvette short scale and that's 37mm at the nut. The SWB-1 does have a narrow neck. Regards

Hi Yes a lovely bass and in as-new condition. There is no neck dive and the neck is very easy to get around. The dimensions you want are as follows.
