I didn't realise it was sparkly green, not black
Seems like a nice bit of kit. What's everybody's impressions then?I was A/Bing it against my Sansamp.Very transparent but with the gain cranked gets a nice warm sound. The AGS does lift the level a lot when switched in but some good usable sounds there too from Jack Bruce to full-on distortion-could do with a level for the AGS as well. The Sansamp sounds quite coloured in comparison, but not in a bad way, just different.Need to play with it a bit more. Iain

  5. I've used both in 4 string and currently have MM Fatbeams on.IIRC the Sunbeams didn't last as long tonewise, but I did like the feel-think the tension was a wee bit less as well. The Fatbeams are very balanced and give nice round tone but do eat my frets a bit-that may be the way I play. Iain
  6. Anybody got their's yet?-still waiting patiently Iain

    eden nemesis?
heya, what do you think of theses cabs? Any good? I've got a Warwick ProFet 3.2 head, and a matching Warwick WCA 211 Pro 2x10 cab. Its pretty quiet and I want to (most likely) buy a 4x10 cab to go with it. I had originally planned to buy the Warwick WCA 410 Pro, but after hearing it is total crap, I no longer want to buy it So, I am looking at the Eden Nemesis gear. I'm having a good look at the Nemesis N410RS 4x10 cab (http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...bs/n410rs.aspx), but I cannot find much info on this. I particually like it because of its light weight. Are these NEO speakers? Anyone had a chance to try one out? I am also looking at the Nemesis N212RS (http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...bs/n212rs.aspx), 2x12 cab. Again, neo speakers? Many many thanks for your help! Cheers Oh, and do they have speakon connectors on the back?
I've got the earlier NSP 410 and it's a brilliant cab-very light, punchy sound although it can take a lot of bass as well.At 103db(I think) it's also very sensitive and easy to drive.I run a Precision through a Sansamp into a 300 watt Trace and I'm rarely above 2 on the master volume, even in loud gigs.Bought for £220 as well-bargain Buy with confidence Iain
  8. Have a little bit of respect guys.He is performing an ancient song(or his interpretation of it) called "Ko Saicha" which the Kamikaze have traditionally played, sung,or listened to before entering battle.Haike probably died an honourable death after this performance. I know this because I have a Japanese mother-BTW I actually quite liked his playing Iain
  9.
I play violin and viola. I'm not sure how, if at all, it affects my bass playing. You either get it or you don't, I think. Piano is more helpful because it gives you direct exposure to harmony and counterpoint. However I strongly disagree with Yanto's statement that reading musing deprives you of the chance to be creative. That's like saying Grahame Greene would have been a better writer if he hand't wasted so much time reading books! Or have I missed your point?
I should have said "could deprive you"-The reason I say this is because I know a few classically trained musicians who are very competent in their genre but when asked to "swing it" would fall flat on their face-is this because they don't participate in a broad enough spectrum of music and it could be learned,or is it a personal thing with them, purely because everybody is different?I didn't mean that having a technical knowledge of music would limit your creativity. As you said people can either get it or not. Incidentally can you play jazz violin and jazz bass as well(if at all)-just interested Hope this makes sense
  10.
I'm an electric bass playing cellist & double bass player. I do teach upper strings as well (violin & viola). I don't know if playing orchestral strings makes you more melodic. Moreso in my case, I think that playing a lot of jazz as well as the rock/funk, etc., makes you think more about what else you can put into music as a bass player. Interestingly, a couple of my young ladies who I teach violin & viola respectively have recently started a bit of electric bass as well. Is there a link? Rich.
I suppose reading music in some ways deprives you of the chance to be creative-definitely with you on the point about jazz, although I can't really play it well.I bought an EUB recently and didn't find the transition too hard but my positioning is all over the place
  11. Just wondering cos I know of a few locally.Does it affect the way you play/interpret bass lines melodically? Iain
  12.
Im wanting to get a new bass cab, preferably a 4x10 for rehearsals and gigs, I have an ampeg B410HLF at the moment which has a horn problem (see my post in repairs forum). Im not sure which cab to go for from the list below: Ampeg SVT 410HE Ampeg SVT 410HLF Ashdown ABM 410T Gallien-Krueger 410SBX Has anyone had experience with these cabs and if so could you please give me an idea of what they are like, volume, sound, build I have a hartke 3500 head thanks Ian
I got a Eden Nemesis 410 cab an year ago and it's been excellent-very sensitive(103 I think) so easy to drive and very light Nearly new £250 on the bay-bargain Cheers Iain

  19. Fitted a new set of Eurosonic lights to my also new(to me) Bassix Multitech. It comes with magnetic pups at end of fretboard and a piezo in the body and bridge, which is all blended through a 2 channel K&K preamp. My problem is that I'm getting a lot of string noise from my fingers and the fretboard, and although this isn't really a major problem when playing with the whole band,it is annoying me a bit. The body piezo does seem to be quite "hot" and I think it could be the main problem, although the nylon covering on the strings tends to get a bit sticky after playing. Any suggestions?Change of strings to Spiros or similar? Cheers Iain
  20. Also check the screws holding the PCB are tight-some of mine were slack and gave me problems Iain
  21.
Has anyone tried the DR Fatbeams Stainless Steel Roundwound? I play mostly funger funk and soul, I've currently got a set of D'Addario EXL 170's, round wound nickel. They feel great, but (I think it's the fact they are nickel) I find the tone a littel thin and over-Zingy. So I'm considering the above DR Fatbeams - but £37 for a 5 string set - ouch!
I use Fatbeams on my US Deluxe P and they sound great.Play rock mainly and get good bass and mids from them with a smooth treble(play with fingers most of the time) They have good balance across the strings and good tension-I don't like floppy,so I can really dig in if required. They aint cheap, but they will last me an year!My frets are starting to wear a bit though,so may go for nickels next Cheers Iain
  22. Psychokiller-Talking Heads Love Song-Simple Minds, still sounds modern although at least 25 years old
  23. Bit off topic but... Bloke goes to the doctor Doctor-"How can I help you" Patient-"I'm getting some strange sounds from my rear end, specifically every time I fart it goes Honda" Doctor-"Very strange indeed, please drop your trousers and bend over. The doctor has a good look and tells the man to pull his trousers up again. Patient-"Well Doctor,is it serious?" Doctor-"You seem to have an abcess" Patient-"But why the sound?" Doctor-"Have you never heard the saying,Abcess makes the fart go Honda" Nice combo and BUMP
