  1. Someone in Ireland must stock G&L? Fire a message to G&L and ask who, then order via them? Or as mentioned, leverage the fact that you're in the EU and cast your net far and wide with no penalties (must be nice).

Nice choice of bass BTW. You can prise my wunkay from my cold, dead hands.

I've never had a signature model before, is it obvious? Is there a signature somewhere?

I mean, if I liked the bass it'd have to have the name of someone I really despised on it for me to turn it down, and then I'd probably still buy the bass but find a way of getting the signature off!

Sometimes it's on the back of the headstock, and sometimes it's front, loud and proud...

I don't understand the need behind signature basses. I've never been a big enough fan of anyone that I would buy the bass they played! I would still sound like me, so why would I be trying to achieve?

Depends what it is - I could understand your point of view with regards to the myriad FSO signature basses out there.  But if you can't afford to truffle out an original 1970s Gibson Les Paul Signature bass, then the JC Sig is your only hope for such a bass, and it kinda doesn't matter if you like Jack Casady or want to sound like him or not.  I certainly didn't buy mine for the name or association, but to give JC his due, he was actively involved in its creation so I think it's fair enough if he wants his name on the headstock, coupled with the fact that he actually uses the bass as his main instrument.

  4. I'm just going to straight out say that the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature has more than transcended JC's use of it.  I would go so far as to say it has become over a 27-ish year production run (and counting) one of the go-to answers to the question "which long scale, hollow bodied electric bass should I buy?"

I don't think I've ever played a lick of Jefferson Airplane or Hot Tuna on mine.  It's a great sounding bass regardless of the genre being played.

Furthermore, I don't feel pigeonholed by any bass.  I don't give a crap what other people think of the bass I'm playing.  I pick them on a whim and if anyone has a complaint, they're welcome to come on stage and take over and do a better job.  I'll play a Mockingbird or an Explorer in church, or at a country gig, and I'd play metal on my JC because I DGAF.  People who complain about these sorts of things should remember that they use their ears for listening, not their eyes ;)

I have been gifted a wireless setup and am

liking it. My question is I want to use my Boss TU-2. I don’t use any other pedals and wondered can I connect the TU-2 in the effects loop of the amp. Will it work whilst I continue to use my wireless setup.

Should work OK through the effects loop, yeah.  Either that or stick it between the wireless receiver and the amp input, as if the wireless setup was a cable.

Interesting you're going for top down when you carry in bag. Do you use it in the bag?

I always do top up and was wondering if people made different choices for sifferent reasons.

I do top up because i dont want to rest on the top jacks.

I made a thread on it once, but someone said i was overthinking!

    Top up, purely by accident.

In my old function band we used to do a fair few military bases, and ( apart from the hassle of getting through

the guards on the main gates understandably searching the van)  we used to get help unloading and

then loading again at the end of the night. Always well looked after as well, with excellent food, drinks and

    dressing rooms etc.

Played some of the US bases in Suffolk / Eastern England and they were amazingly helpful, plenty of

guys to haul the equipment. Very enthusiastic audiences too, did some great gigs with a country band

in the early 80’s - you only had to ask if there was anyone from any particular US state and

a tray of drinks would appear on the front of the stage. Happy days.

Nice to feel valued, instead of encountering anything from blatant disregard at best to utter contempt and made to feel like a nuisance at worst!

There was one in Liverpool for £100.

now somewhere else in Liverpool for £200.

    there was a 90’s bb350 for £60 today…

I messaged the guy the second I saw it…but it was gone, obviously 😫

Hot damn!  I had a BB350F, total beater, but still a great bass.  Shame I can't play fretless for toffee!

  9. Damn, that does look nice in red.  Oh dear.  Just as well I think they're a mite bit too expensive, even with the addition of a gigbag and other minor improvements, if the price had been the same as the previous Vintage Pro/60s model then my gear abstinence this year might have come under more serious threat...

what difference is this bass to the bb3000? They look the same.

Main difference is that the BB3000 is neck thru, BB414 is bolt on.  The BB3000 generally comes with gold hardware, BB414 is chrome.  There will be hardware differences, tuners, bridge.  Pickups are probably different.

There's plenty of undiscovered electronic music gems from the 80s. That record isn't one of them.

Well maybe one day the music industry will be a meritocracy...

If you need any plastic right angled stuff printed to avoid bashing metal, let me know.

Thanks!  Have to say though, after a Monday at work, bashing the rivets out of the chain with hammer and punch was very satisfying indeed :D

After this, I put up a picture for Mrs. Neepheid.  When you get on a run of practical stuff and the tools are out already...
