  2. I think there is something inevitable about all of this. Let's face it, the market for music is totally saturated and there is no element of quality control whatsoever. You only have to see how many videos there are of Andre Rieu. We have all contributed to the devaluation of music by producing so much of it, a lot of it mediocre, whilst the vehicles for distribution take advantage of the fact. We all fantasise about making it and our expectations are being exploited. The American dream absolutely.
  3. I don't subscribe to any streaming services, music or videos. I will listen to odd tracks but mostly stuff I have already bought that I want to access when I am away from home. I do acknowledge that I link my transcription website to Spotify and YouTube so, obviously, I am a total hypocrite.
  4. I could hit you around the back of the head with both and see if you can tell the difference ๐Ÿ˜†
  5. Often, chord names are transferrable and a m7b5 and a half diminished are the same thing, just referred to in different ways like a shovel and a spade or a hatchet and an axe. What is more important is the function of the chord in the context in which it is being used. If it is functioning as the seventh chord in major chord scale, I would call it a m7b5. In truth, it probably only matters what it sounds like, not what it is called.
  6. Just don't call it a Jazz band. That's always a bad idea
  7. Learn them and then forget it.
  8. I always thought that having a hobby that brings in more money than it costs it was argument enough.
  9. Jazzer. Set changes every gig. As do most of the musicians.
  10. That Jamerson book is great for learning to read 16ths.
  11. I think it is one of the greatest frustrations in music making - finding people who are interested in playing the music you want to play and who are good enough to play it. The 'better' you are (subjective, I know), the harder it becomes. Even if I could out Jaco Jaco, where is my Zawinul, my Shorter, my Erskine etc? I guess they find you if you are good enough.
  12. You are very welcome, all of you.
  13. Phil Jones BG75 Double Four. I prefer to hear air moving than going through headphones. I play guitars through it too.
  14. The trouble with the nothing to hide nothing to fear argument is that, even if you have nothing to hide, you may have something to fear when the next enforcement regime comes along e.g. if you share information about your sexuality, religion, trade union membership etc. All innocent enough under one regime, catastrophic for individuals under another. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Law making has got very slapdash during my lifetime and there are so many unforeseen pitfalls created as a result.
  15. Sold a bass to Dave. Easy to do business with! Good Comms. Quick payment.
  16. ***SOLD***
  17. Why didn't you say? ๐Ÿ˜†
  18. It's definitely the bass in the video.
  19. I am near there, my friend. Let me know if I can help.
  20. Sold pending the necessary. Watch this space.
  21. Yeah... Apparently it's a really light bass ๐Ÿ˜ (having lugged a Wal around for 38 years, EVERYTHING feels like a light bass to me).
  22. Minor scuffs and buckle rash.
  23. Yeah. I have had about 5 or 6 basses with a low B (this Marleaux, two Status basses, a Harley Benton 7-string etc) and they just never sit right with me (and the music I play doesn't really require it, if I am honest).
