1.
i think it is stress guys. i am gonna let myself actually start to miss the bass for a few days. then come back to it hopefully refreshed. it doesnt help that i have been a guitarist most of my life and have just recently moved over to bass. my problem is that my ability as a guitarist actually sits as judge , jury and executioner over my lesser ability as a bassist. trying to run before i walk i suppose. but to cheer myself up i endulged in a wee bit of GAS. i saw this on a local site and it ended up costing me £15http://
Congratulations on the bass. £15 ?? That's amazing value! Real beaut too.
  2. Auctions are useful if you don't know what is a fair price for the item.
  3.
sounds like you either need a complete break - few days off from the bass completely so that you start to miss it - or need something completely new to try on the bass to mix it up so it's fun rather than a chore. On the second of those, a mate of mine who's a very good guitarist, will break his downward spiral of dull practices by booking a guitar lesson. tells me it works by getting somebody else's perspective on stuff, and a set of suggested practice routines. He once spent an entire lesson explaining to the teacher that what he was saying about modes was completely wrong, and even that was great for him because he came out wanting to brush up on some of his theory.
I'd like a lesson like that: Something to get you thinking about it and approaching from another angle or getting the inspiration going. (I'm in the same position as the OP. I've started selling up)
  4.
I believe Ebay being predominately traders and more private sellers on Gumtree was a deliberate business decision by Ebay, as they own Gumtree as well and wanted to seperate them that way.
This morning I heard a radio ad. Declaring EBay as the place to sell your old stuff to clear a bedroom. So maybe that business model is getting shaky? I always thought eBay was good for selling nationally and Gumtree for sellimg locally. This weekend I put up an electronic piano on Gumtree. Folk were calling from up to 70 miles away!
  5. Well, why don't we all make it better? Pick a bass from your collection and put it up there to sell at a bargain basement price. After all, for you to be able to buy at a silly low price, someone has to be prepared to accept a silly low price, so why don't you start it off?

    SOLD

Beauty at a bargain price too!
  7.
What's the weight please ?
I've got one of these, only mine's fretless. I bought mine for £1000 used. It sits well on the strap and a really comfortable weight. If I didn't have a Streamer Stage 1 this would be gone. To the seller I would say the price is very low now.
  8. And sold. Many thanks for your interest guys.
  9. Back up as the guy enquiring has dropped off of the face of the planet.

    Budget PJs

How do they make them for that price!? You might need/want to change the pups, but they're amazing value. I'd also want to change the pg on the Harley though. The tort doesn't go with that body colour. Here's an Ibanez, if you'd like a complication to the matter: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/298839-on-hold-1990-ibanez-exseries-exb-404-bass-4-string-pj-dropped-it/#entry3218445 Shameless plug alert!!
  11.
That's wide spacing for a thumb 5er
I lied. Well, not intentionally. I just measured it and it's more like 16-17mm ATM, but I could adjust them wider. I think if you take the rests to the full outside on the B & G, you can just about get 19mm
  12. Many thanks all for your contributions. I've found there isn't really a problem with any of the pots. All's well. Thanks again
  13.
Whats the neck dive like on this one? I know they vary a lot..
I normally play sitting down without a strap. So I've just tried this out. With a webbing strap it doesn't dive, it stays very horizontal. It doesn't seem to want to slope up much, but it's not heading to the floor.

  17. I know the feeling well. The simple fact is, for you, it's too heavy. It never is going to be the one you're going to eagerly grab as you go out to a gig. If you're looking to cut your teeth on doing refins, then you can find a cheaper bass to do it with, and it could be lighter in weight - so might fit the bill better. If you're experienced at fettling on a bass, then you won't be challenged by this. It's never going to be the No.1 in your collection. I say sell it.
  18. This is bass has a few signs of wear, but it is generally in great condition. The body is solid ash. 20.
I dont want to be rude but what about sweat - that's about 99.95% water and fingerboards, lacquered or not are covered in the stuff by the end of a proper gig and if they can survive years of that treatment then a little bit of water in a crack whilst you clean the fretboard isnt going to do anything at all.
Exactly. Nobody has suggested "washing it". Only use a damp cloth.
  21.
Do any of you know of any mother-of-pearl veneers that can be put on a bass/guitar body, just like those beautifull coffee table wood tops i've seen on the build diaries by Andyjr? This idea came from seeing the new Sire models to be released: Seeing this jazz i thought to my self: "Man, this bass with a white mother of pearl body and matching headstock would be beautiful and would match the drum kit perfectly " So, do you recon there's a way to do it? A lined wood veneer? A plastic layer? Printed vinyl with lacquer coat? I've already a white suit and hat on order and starting to grow the moustache
Hey GB, Nice bass that. The veneer is Quilted Maple. A nice one does really look great. I have a Warwick like that, but mine's solid maple. There's no reason why you can't do that with veneer though.
