1. Funny, because the picture on the site of the bass shows the route to look good. Also, i suppose you could get some red acrylic, shape it so it fits the pickup perfectly with a border around it, then countersink so the acrylic can be flush with the surface. Its what im doing for one of my basses.
2. Does the gas iron have the ability to have different tips, ie, one that produces heat for heatshrinking application?
3. The hole theme is incorrect. The cutouts followed the bodys profile. I think the bass he was working on at the time was jag shaped....
4. Just like this, but with less cutouts...
5.
Yamaha Sinsonido?
Nothing that extreme. The basses are from wood.
6.
Paul Lairat? http://www.lairat.com/
Not these. They are a bit extreme.
Any of these?
A bit like the top one, but a few more cutouts, but not as curvy. The bottom one is closer, but made from wood, and isnt just one big cutout, but smaller sectioned cutouts. I think they were by a guy who wanted lighter basses, but looks compromise etc.....
7. Im trying to remember the site/ guy who builds them. They are basses with large cutouts to make it look almost skeletal, but google searching hasnt turned up anything yet. Anyone know what im on about?
8. For the stingray sound, could it be that the pickup is wired in series, not parallel, as i have found normally to be the case?
9.
Just a very quick one, I'm in work after all, will do some mad ones when I get the chance. ( I know the neck PUP is out of alignment )
You'd probably like this one then:
10. I notice a lot of people here are choosing bound necks. Why doesnt the current bass market reflect that?
11. may be wired incorrectly being a factory second. Just check to see that it is wired as follows (ignore the pot values)
12. I tried a flea bass once. It was amazing, and for £800, i was kicking myself that had just bought a brand new 3eq stingray. Lovely basses they are.
13. looking good dude.
14.
I've collected quite a lot of Sabre photos over the past couple of years. Not HD, unfortunately, but there's some interesting stuff in there like an '80 ebony fretless (which some idiot had fret lines put on). If you're interested, you're welcome to them. I could Dropbox them to you. Cheers, Kees
You've been pm'd sir!
15.
A bit more realistic http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2321a202f4
I saw that pop up too. Looks fantastic condition too.
16. That headstock looks friggen fantastic!!!!
17. Well I've bought some 42 awg wire to have a go at rewinding. So let's see what happens
18. heres some magnet sites: http://www.magnets2buy.com/acatalog/Alcomax-cylindrical-magnets.html and some others http://www.first4magnets.com/8mm-dia---max-245kg-pull-79-c.asp
19. I have a dimarzio P copy, and while it reads nothing on the ohm-meter, when wired to an amp, it makes sound and a HORRENDOUS buzzing sound if you touch the poles for one of the pickup (DG side). Anyone know Whassup?
20. Interested in a P/x for a natural westone thunder 1 plus a bit of cash? I can throw in a working thunder 1a preamp in an enclosure?
21. I know wizard make MM styles http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/shop.asp?category=Bass however, im not sure what they sound like, but their other pups are dam decent. Axesrus do one as well, http://www.axesrus.com/AxeBassPup.html and their P bass pup is awesome, but once again, not sure of how it sounds. Alnicos people say sound more like the original, and the ceramics are what are used in the sterling basses, and are a slightly different sound to "that" sound.
22. Im out of stingray preamps. but i have 1 more sabre preamp. Once they're gone, ill order some more parts, but this time i think a few more ray preamps. So, ill probably order more parts in a few weeks time.
