1.
sh*t, if this was fretted I'd swoop that away! THIS IS AN ULTIMATE STEAL! Best of luck with the sale
It wouldn't cost a lot to have it refretted, at this price you'd still have a bargain.
2. This is still on today isn't it ?
3.
It's actually very easy to play, I've spent a bit of time on it and consequenty the action is really nice. And the lines are a major help, but you very quickly get used to where the llines are without looking. I'm not a very experienced fretless player. I'll take a couple of photos of the rest of the bass. Posting isn't a problem.
5. I played a 33" five string Wood 'n' tronics bass yesterday, I didn't realise it was 33" until I got home and saw it on the Bassdirect website. A five string is the same as a six string really, (if you see what I mean) it's the low B that's important I guess.
6. Super sale now on ! I need a quick sale so I can buy something else.
7. Bump ! If you're interested email is better, I can pick those up on my phone but not basschat PM's. My email is [email protected]
8. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ....................music shops in Birmingham, waste of time. Jump on train at Warwick and catch the train to London and go to the Gallery, don't bother with Denmark street. A day return to London Marylebone is only £18 on a Saturday.
9. The string spacing is 18mm, the scale length is 34". It's currently fitted with DR Black beauties, and has a really nice low action.
10. I guess I've had this for about 4 months, that's quite a long time for me It's in excellent condition, and sounds great. Complete with a padded cover. £395 plus shipping or personal collection is welcome.
11. I've only had this for a couple of weeks, it's a really nice bass in really excellent condition. I'm told by Jon Shuker that it's about 8 years old. I wanted a fretless 6 string and this came up for sale so I bought it. Then as so often happens something else somes up for sale that I want more. So this will need to go. It has EMG pickups and a Shuker preamp. It was originally fretted but the original owner had the frets removed by Martin Petersen. £600, personal collection preferred but I will post if necessary.
12. The bass will be expertly set up before you buy it, and they do offer a great after sales service. In my experience they're also open to a bit of haggling on the advertised prices.
13.
Have a look here: HG Thor these are amazing!
Thanks ! They do look amazing. I've tried flats and I don't get that growl or mwah sound at all, maybe I need lighter flats but I'm not exactly spolied for choice with it being a 6 string.
14. I just bought a rather nice Shuker 6 string fretless, it was originally fretted but the original owner had Martin Petersen remove the frets. It has a rosewood fretboard that's starting to get scratched by my roundwound strings. I was reading this the other day about putting a layer of superglue on the board to protect it, I should imagine it'll change the sound a bit too. http://subcontrabassist.com/smf/index.php?topic=367.0 Anyone ever tried it, and how did they do it without getting into a right mess ? Thanks
15. Anyone have any experience of these ? http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_d1600.htm They look good.
16. Hi Steve All the above are still for sale. It's one of my many hats, I have about 30 of 'em. John has done some of the work, he's sorted out a small electrical problem, fitted new round string things (replacing newer tear drop ones). He's building a new fretboard at the moment with the Starchild inlays, that'll take a few more weeks. Then he'll have the bass back and fit the new fretboard and give it a total respray. So I guess I'm looking at about 2 months before it's all done. I played the Jaydee tonight with an 8 peice band, we do motown, 70's funk and disco stuff, it sounded amazing and really looks the part.
17.
MB1. ....Is this the same one thats been offered on Ebay without any Pictures? BUMP!
I emailed that guy asking for photos. I had a very badly worded reply telling me how pleased for life I would be if I bought the SC from him. But all went quiet when I asked him if I could try it and pay cash on collection. I just hope no one actually fell for it.
18. I just had an email from Mo Clifton, seems he has one already built that I can have at the end of June, he's in France at the moment.
19. I had lessons on DB last year. It's mainly the pronounced U shape of the neck, I'm used to a very flat profille on my basses.
