1. As new, I just bought it but something else has come up that I'd like. I don't have the box anymore , but it'll be well wrapped up for shipping. £70 including postage.
2. This is a mint condition bass bought from this site a few months ago. Black with a black scratchplate and a nice dark coloured rosewood fingerboard. All original electronics, pickups and hardware. No case but I have a Levy's Ernie Ball gigbag that can go with it. I'd like to trade it for either a CIJ or USA 70's Jazz bass, preferably either sunburst or Olympic white with a maple board and blocks/binding. Or Fretless Musicman Stingray 5 string. Photos to follow soon !
3. Transcribed in Bassplayer magazine the other month.
4. I'm a massive fan of Incognito, they've had some great bass players over the years. I think probably Julian Crampton's my favourite.
5. I don't see where the 'going through the motions' thing comes from. I absolutely love playing different styles of music, whether it's rock, jazz or country I always give 100% to the music. The key word there is 'MUSIC', I play music I don't care about the genre. I think that too many people have a 'hang-up' about genres and styles, they like to 'pigeon hole' stuff. What everyone ultimately plays is is music. Have a look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpSbe8IxH9Y...feature=related Will Lee never just goes through the motions, he makes everything groove. Here's Janek Gwizdala, who's a jazz cat playing with V V Brown, he's definitely giving 100% http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZlWDzFbf6c
6. I've ordered one from these people here - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/vanquishguitars2007?_rdc=1 They seem very helpful, and give free next day delivery too !
7.
I can't be any help on this one, but if ever buy another effect pedal for bass, this will very likely be it! So that's two of us watching for replies...
I emailed them earlier asking for some info, they got back to me almost straight away. Not bad considering it's a Sunday.
8. You've got to love the name, I do anyway. Anyone tried one ? How do they compare with the EBS Dynacomp and the Aguilar TLC ?

10. I've never really been much of a Precision bass fan, but saying that I've never really spent a lot of time with a good one. However I've just bought the Rufus/Chaka Khan album 'Stomping at the Savoy', featuring Bobby Watson on bass. The liner notes show him playing a P bass. The bass sound is great, so a nice P bass is possibly mext on my list opf basses to buy.
11. Anyone want an Aguilar footswitch for an AG500 ? £25 Posted.

13.
I think you can usually tell when a musician doesn't really like the music they're playing. If you're playing music that you wouldn't actually listen to in your own time, it's obvious. Over the years I have played in bands that span many different genres but in each case it's been music that I like a lot. I couldn't do a Top 40 band or a country band or a rock band because my heart wouldn't be in it. So for me it's not a case of "stylistic or versatile", it's more a case of soul or no soul.
I play music .
14. I totally agree with you. If you look at my Myspace page you'll see most of my top 10 'friends' are with a few exceptions versatile session or freelance players. I play everything from jazz to rock to funk to country and western. I'm playing on a cruise ship from next week, so I guess that'll be playing everything from ballroom dance music to 60's/70's party music !

16. Bump ! I'll post some better photos later after I've got some batteries for my camera. I was hoping to take them outside, there's not much chance of that though !
17.
am interested. will think about it. Its just marks on board which make me um and ah. but prob won't getter a better bass at that price
They're not too noticeable, and don't affect the playabilty at all. If I keep it I'll get it sanded and epoxied.
18. I'm selling a really nice CIJ Fender jazz if you're interested. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=95050
19. He doesn't advertise his stuff very well does he ? I noticed this last night, he has a very small photo of the album on his Myspace site. There's no mention though on his normal website, or none that I could see anyway. I had to really search through his sites to find anything, and then it didn't actually say it was a 'new' album. I really like his stuff, I saw him in London a couple of years ago and like everything that he played, even the more strange songs that he played.
20. This is a very beautiful bass in very good condition. It's actually too nice which is why I'm selling it, I keep getting the urge to attack it with some sand paper . I want the real 'Jaco' look. I've recently played two relic-ed '62 fretless Jazz basses and I really want one of them, or one of the Fender Jaco signature models. It has a few marks on the board from using roundwound strings, and a couple of slight marks on the body, nothing at all major and nothing really visible or that can be photographed. It's a 'crafted in Japan'model, and is way better than my USA deluxe Fender bass, the build quality is really superb. It has a really nice vintage colour to the neck and a beautiful sunburst finish to the body. The pickups are US models and sound very full and 'Jaco'. I have it fitted with Rotosound roundwound strings for the Jaco sound. It comes with a Fender gig bag. I'd like £400 plus postage or you can collect it from Birmingham, or I can meet you somewhere convenient. I am away for a month from July 24th playing on a cruise ship, so please bare that in mind if you're interested.
21. This guy got this beautiful bass from Ebay. He beat ME to it. I'd have won this for £621 if it wasn't for him, and now he wants to trade it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
22. I just got home with my new Stingray and a very nice two bass gig bag courtesy of Duncan. He's a very nice guy to deal with, highly recommended. The Stingray is excellent, and exactly as Duncan described it. There's nothing worse than travelling a long distance to buy something that's been described as 'like new', or 'in mint condition' when it's not. There's no worry here though, a very honest guy to deal with.
23.
Unfortunately I am the bearer of bad news as I bought a stingray 5 from Kevin (kinda foolishly) trusting that the bass was functioning correctly. Having later proudly taken it to show a friend who knows stingrays very well he pointed out that it was sounding terrible on two of the three pickup settings (compared with what it should sound like..) and needed attention. This was a costly and timely process which resulted in the discovery of sellotaped wiring connections, plus cables not soldered on at all and all pickup wires soldered to the wrong connections... Kevin described this problem as having "developed"....I've never come across wires that have the ability to re-solder themselves voluntarily but hey
There's a lot more to this that has never ever come to light. The issue turned into an appalling and totally unjustified personal attack on myself, verging on libel. If the bass was as bad as you describe, how come it took you so long to realise, it can't have sounded that terrible. You tried the bass in my house throught YOUR OWN amp. You later lied to your friend about me not having an amp. The bass was with John Diggins for two weeks immediately prior to being bought by you, he didn't spot anything that you say. The bass was fine when you bought it. I believe that you personally messed about with it, you then tried to blame me. I think that all of my prior positive feedback on here and talkbass should speak for itself.
24. Just bought a really beautiful Marcus Miller bass from Tom. It's without doubt the nicest of all the MM basses that I've seen. A very easy transaction.
25.
That Ibanez looks like a good option, I think I will try it next My bag does get hammered, and like I said earlier, leaving pointy strap locks on doesn't help Tony
I'm guilaty as anyone for leaving straps fitted to my bass, with the pointy locking bit .
