But for a good few weeks now, I have been lusting after one of the Matt Freeman signature Squiers (the vintage white one). I've been trying to build a look-a-like of that from parts, but no amount of looking nice is ever going to make it play as well as the Squier. Although it certainly isn't a bad bass, it's definitely not the quality of the Squier.

[/quote] Woah, that car... I don't think I would want to drive that about! As well as the tone and the looks, they feel so different to my Warwick. I mean, I adore my 'Wick, but it's like a favourite food... I love chow mein, but I wouldn't wanna eat it every day if you know what I mean?!

I'm sure you agree that one has to both sound good and look the part on stage, otherwise ya don't get booked again I'm certainly not blaming my tools for my lack of skills as a bass player! That one's all on me...

The Warwick I had - Corvette $$ had a huge tonal palette and was good for Heavy Metal right through to Funk. Yeah, I love my Warwick as well This all came about because a while ago I saw the Matt Freeman squir and had a bad case of GAS. So I set about building my own look-a-like from parts... But the quality doesn't come close. I'm wondering whether I should have just bought what I originally wanted in the first place...?

I've been eyeing up Fender Precisions lately, but I just can't afford one I'd even settle for the new Matt Freeman Squier, but that is almost as expensive as the Fenders on Gear4Music.... Just moaning.

Then why are you posting one of his solos online? The guy was just brilliant, musically and technically. Sure, his playing was a little on the sloppy side but that just added character!
