PM'd you about the MXR Dynacomp.
-
I should add, I'm very interested if it's still around and for sale.
-
Did this ever sell?

If you really want pickup details... I mean if you really want them, there's always this option: https://reverb.com/item/66243723-wal-bass-pickup-pre-1988?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=66243723&fbclid=IwAR34zp3dIF8vOvh9buvRim_EEVM1FiK9UxoIMU6ox6VvM28Ft2ikQgPocJA

Proper validation. Right there.
I was about to blame an error on the site, but I stand by my 3 duplicate posts, I think they actually convey my thoughts quite well...

For interest. The body is progressing well. Ian ( @Chopthebass) doing sterling work. Some teaser pics -
And some colour testing. Blue/aquamarine kind of burst.
Now that IS tasty.

Is that supposed to be the Two Notes Re-Volt? Or something else?
No, it's meant to be one of these >> https://www.simplifieramp.com/bass-station-2
I wonder if it's a real copy or just a stab at it?- 1

Very surprised by this tiny combo I am! The more I crank it the better it sounds! So not my experience with SS amps.
Very rich low end when fully cranked amp volume. And the tone is pleasant to the ears which is great.
I tried my Behringer BDI-21 pedal for extra drive but was not pleased with it. Then tried the TC Zeus (Klon) with Fat switch engaged and the smile was on me face Noice!
Jonas Hellborg was involved in designing the wider range of these amps, and by all accounts even these little cheapies have a preamp and power stage with his finger prints on it. That explains the amount of clean, pure power, despite its size!

I've got one of these and it really delivers way beyond what you'd expect.
Loads of bass and volume for such a tiny box.Enjoy!

Bloody hell!
They have not be around long.

Did these DarkGlass clones start appearing after Korg acquired them?
Perhaps the manufacturing went to a lower end, cheaper factory where things get leaked?
It does seem, bar the more fancy digital stuff that the core functionality and sound is there in these DarkGlass clones...

I don't know how they recorded Flea's Wal on BSSM, but there is definitely compression added somewhere along the way and in the videos you do see his GK/Mesa rig.
A large chunk of the saturation and dirt, to my ear comes from driving some kind of outboard gear, possibly even the channel on a high end Neve desk, but I have read a few articles that state he recorded the whole album using his GK rig.
Sad thing is, I doubt even Flea will remember, it was a fairly wild time on the Chilli's career...

I've got the Behringer and I did have a BDDI V1 about a decade ago, so I can't really remember it accurately.
The clone sounds great even if it is not accurate.
And as the V2 are now nearly £300 it will have to do!
Yeah, the SansAmp pricing has gone WAY up.
I bought my original V1 back in the 90s for not much more than £100 new.
That's since gone, and I got a good as new V2 for £150 about 2 years ago.
I guess they're just keeping up with the prices of all their competition, as these preamp pedals are getting very pricey now. -

I wish they had included the Behringer tribute to the BDDI in as well.
Would have been interesting to hear that.
I think for all intents and purposes, in a mix like that you wouldn't hear much of a difference.
I believe there is a little more finesse in the BDDI tone in isolation, and the build quality will obviously be night and dayUltimately, it's meant to be a pretty accurate clone, mainly just the quality of build and components that make the difference, oh and the BDDI V2 has a bit more going on control wise too, the Behringer is a clone of the V1.

A really really good comparison, and there's something for everyone in there too.
It gives a real world setting for everything too, as some preamps just sound pants compared to others, depending on the player and the bass, so much more honest than most test videos where everything is tweaked to sound as good as possible, sometimes, I suspect with external gear.
My favourites were mainly the Sansamp ones, the VT Bass mainly, but I will always have a soft spot for the BDDI, which is lucky as I have one

Here you go, sorry it's not that good but gives you an idea of what it might sound like with someone skilled playing it!
That sounds marvellous!
