1. king tuts had a fridge full of beer and water.

we played another gig where a massive massive fridge full of cobra beer was for the 6 bands on the bill. by the time we came of stage at 1.30am it wasnt even half empty!

  2.
The Contemporary Series used to have painted headstocks and the grey logos. Couldn't tell you if that is one though.
beat me to it

  3. er embarisingly I am having trouble working out the bassline to you've got the love by source ft candi station.

  4.
i've got to say, i agree with Delberthot, if you're swapping the body and the neck you're getting rid of the bass really. you're using those eletronics and pickups in a new bass.
well yessss but if i sat down and did my sums i would just buy a new bass rather than upgrade most/all of it.
    which wouldnt be so fun!

  5.
I got me one of dem!!! Super basses! Mines just like yours - will be using it with Mike Berry and The Outlaws in a couple of weeks time.
see thats good to know. I've not played a silly amount of fenders but to my hands and ears this is a very good one. If someone with 5460 basses has one and plays it it cannae be bad!
Have you got the nice grain on the wood that you get on the early ones with the fender logos? My pups have been replaced with SD SPB-1 (i think thats what he said they are) what are the original pups like in comparison would you think?

  6. no, body is too heavy to play really. some super hard wood. so at somepoint i may get a new body for it.
the neck was home defretted, the ronseal is great but it is too hard to sand back, it puddled at the edges of the fretboard meaning I dont have much of a radius on it. so at some point i may stick something else on it.

even if i was trying to get rid of it its probably worth less than a packet of space raiders!

  7.
If your PA has subs fine, otherwise don't bother. Learn to use the EQ on your amp and work out best positioning for your cab. ie In a corner as close to a back wall as possible. Depending on what type of music and the size of venue 180 watts should be ok for less than 100 people, any more than that and I think you will struggle.

You can take a line out from your amp to the PA, just make sure you plug into a line-in input on the PA as opposed to a mic level input. If you have a PA with balanced mic inputs ie 3pin XLR then use the DI.

We always put our guitarist through the PA by taking an output from his amp effects send jack to a line in on the PA. This means we can control his stage level and room level much better.
While bass straight from a DI sounds fine I don't think I would for electric guitar.
I find mic the cab will sound better, you can use some kind of power soak to get the volume down yet still push the valves.

  8. yes it is a guitar. im sorry. if it helps i really can't play the thing...
yeah the home build may keep getting stuff added to it with felt pens. I figure as I am an artist by training it can only add to the value of the thing. I only used it live once, half way through, with the stress of playing fretless too the amp cuts out, i think it is my soldering and switch to the fretted only to find that doesnt work either. i lent it to a friend and he did use it live for stuff, must have done his back in, its super heavy!
