1.
I pride myself on my shut downs. Quickest from last note to fully loaded car is 4 minutes (the stage/my set up was in front of some French doors and my car was right outside). Set up i snormalyy 15 minutes max (no rigs or lights )
Brilliant! i take longer because I chat too much!
2. Surfed into this thread - stayed for the full 45 mins!
3.
Les Claypool is sure to get a shout before too long! (though he is famous fo using a fretless 6 string, his favourite bass was his 4 string fretted!) Steve DiGiorgio as well, Juan Alderete has used a fretless jazz bass in and out with the mars volta, Gary Willis jumps to mind (Tribal tech), as does Jonas Hellborg, Jack Bruce, Bill Wyman from the older Rolling Stones stuff, Tony Levin, Jeroen Paul Thesseling (from Obscura) and Colin Edwin from Porcupine tree Are all the ones i can think off (which is MANY more than i thought i knew! tempted by a fretless now! haha) Mostly rocky/heavier people there
Thanks for that. Didn't realise Mr Wyman used fretless back then. Some familiar names and some I haven't heard before. Cheers for that!
4. Was reading some threads about fretless stuff then thought I need to be enlightened to some more fretless players. My usual fretless listening artists are the likes of; Jaco Pino Paladino Percy Jones Barbara Thompsons bassist (Paraphanalia era) Miick Khan Talk talk Jeff beck's bassist from "wired" Kate bush ( some of her earlier stuff) and a few more... I'm sure there's more great players out there I haven't heard yet so let me know! . Hey, maybe we should have a separate fretless area on BC too?
5. I used work making stained glass windows. I used to have cuts on the tips of my fingers at times. The best remedy by far was superglue. Was too painful sliding up a sweaty strings at gigs without it.
6. Love playing fretless. I tend to gig with mine a lot. Have found some guitarists dislike me playing it at gigs and found others who moan if I don't bring it to a gig. It does put a smile on my face when you show up at a jam night, nobody asks to play your bass.
7. It's now on the auction site......

9.
Whitstable's a lovely little town. If this was next year, I'd say - go along and visit/play the Biennale too! As it is, the place is worth a day out. If I lived in Manchester, I'd hire a van and make a weekend of it. Book a gig in London for the slower end of festival season! Do Glastonbury and take a huge detour! So a free bump for being in a nice town.. It's not that far from London, either, for goodness sake!
Thanks for that. Can't complain there's lots of musical activity round this way and it keeps me busy ( Including Faversham - Cheers Waynepunkdude). Maybe we should start a new thread - Bassists days out? If I can get the cab in the car I'll consider a halfway drive if it helps. Not one swap offer either! Cheers Tim.
10. Bump it up! Last bump before the "EB" auction site. Open to trades/ px's etc.
11. Suprised it hasn't found a new home yet! Last bump before the evilbay ad! You could tempt me with trades / px / cold cash!

15. Ashdown Mag now gone to a new home!
16. I heard it's a great place to gig but it has no atmosphere.
17.
Dagnamit, why don't you live in North Manchester?
Well, somebody has to keep it low in sunny Whitstable!

19. I have decided to sell my Hartke VX 810. This served me well in a couple of bands I was in when I had to shift some air. Also have aquired a GK rig so this isn't getting used. This is a 800 watt 4 ohm cab. Looking for £280 ono. This will have to be collected from Whitstable, Kent. 21. It's time to let my combo go. Initially I bought it because my main amp let me down. Then I discovered Mark Bass so this combo was left unused under the stairs. It's seen no more than 14 gigs. Does have a scuff on the back where it caught on a protruding boot catch. All Buttons, Sliders and pots intact. Would prefer collection for this but could travel if not too far. Looking for £300 ono. I'm based in Sunny Whitstable in Kent. Hartke VX3500 ; The VX3500 combo combines the best selling classic Hartke 3500 amp with a killer Hartke speaker cabinet loaded with four 10" Hartke VX speakers and a high frequency driver. The VX3500 provides 350 watts of power to the built-in 2-way bass speaker system. With that kind of power and Hartke's custom designed transducers, the VX3500 is extremely live and punchy. In addition, the VX3500 offers a number of additional advanced features, including front panel compression and graphic equalizer LED indicators, effects send and return jacks, an effects send/return balance knob and a direct output with ground lift and pre or post EQ selection. With excellent power and tone, the VX3500 is ideal for live performance use in small and medium-size venues. Additionally, its advanced preamp features make it perfect for use in recording environments. And with solid cabinet construction, heavy-duty casters and recessed side handles, the VX3500 is made for the road, ensuring reliable, professional performance night after night. 3500 amplifier section with 350 watts delivered to its internal 4 ohm speaker system Amp section features tube and solid state preamps, bass, treble and contour controls, 10-band graphic EQ and variable compression Cabinet features 4 x 10" traditional paper cone drivers and a high frequency compression driver Solid braced cabinet construction, recessed side handles, and heavy duty casters http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...cfm?prodID=1718
