1. Hi Jack! I'm in liverpool centre myself, do let me know if you fancy a pint and a chat sometime! Like to hear what you think of SUB at some point too, I'm pretty sure my next bass is going to be an MM style one...
2.
These are excellent basses, I`d thoroughly recommend them to anyone, great players, great sound, great quality.
+1 If I ever fall to the deep dark side of P basses, this would be the one I'd want to take me there!
3. Great idea and nice to see someone pushing the boat out on things like this - even though I do agree it seems to be a solution to a problem no one really has. The really interesting thing would be to see how close someone could get to tone number 6,564,322 with a HH ray though!
4.
Octavias are the same chassis as the Golf and A3 not the A4! I'm a pedant. but just confirms my statement in another thread that you need to know exactly what your buying in life and with a US Ray the guess work is taken out.
The reason I'd choose the Ray34 over a "real" stingray is more one of value than quality. I've played 3 now and they've all blown me away and sounded exactly like I hear a stingray. If money was no object I'd buy the better quality bass, which I have no doubt is the US Stingray - the difference in price between the two just doesn't seem to reflect the difference in Quality and I think that's why people like them so much (IMO).
5. I love when you pick up something affordable and it really tickles your fancy. Cracking bass Matt
6. I've got no experience with Berg or Purple Chilli I'm afraid, I do know that I found Aguilars (both the DB and GS series) to go deeper than the warwick
7. I used to own one of these. Great tone but wasn't as deep as some other 12's i've heard
8. Your useless you! Good luck man
9.
Cheers for the help guys Btw, mythe ste, my Tobias is a Pre Gibson 1992 Toby Pro 4, not one of the newer Tobias' so I don't know if the new ones have the same electronics as the older ones. Especially as mine only has 4 knobs and the newer ones have 5
Well that makes even more sense then, Vol, Blend, Bass and treble I guess? Thats a pretty standard setup and has been for a long while as far as I know!
10. just had a look at the tobias website, yes, its a pickup pan knob
11. Jeeeeze. This has left me dumbfounded! I almost dont want to post it here...! http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ray_Status.html
12. Is this still available and is postage an option? I'm amp shopping for a friend at the moment
13. Umph and Mr Fitzmaurice, Careful, I fear if you two argue the world will fall deaf, or something. I like big glowing tubes. That is all.
14. I'd also suggest the Tecamp puma 212 but I heard someones just bought that one...
15. I have no experience with the prometheon, but I'm not sure about it being able to hold up ina pub with a live drummer. I think there are just certain limitations a single 10" speaker has to have (I could be wrong...) If it was me I'd be eyeing up the markbass 2x10 combo for sale in this forum
16.
Oh I better keep it then... it is worth more to me to keep as a spare I suppose the body is where the money is at then :/
Funny thing is, I don't think the body would be worth much on its own either! might be worth putting the entire bass out there for trade?
17. I think it's something there isnt much of a market for, If I'm honest. I'd expect to see one sell on here for £60, but not much more. All IMO
18.
Makes you wonder how many 16-26 year olds would pass the credit check. Or maybe that's the point.
Its a very low calibrated credit check from what I remember. Hell, I passed it and I was 19...!
19.
Thanks, but really had some dissapointing expereinces with the MIMs. Your's looks lovely but once bitten and all that...
No problem, let me know if you change your mind
20.
Where do I send my CV?
+1! Will travel daily!
21. just don't put a big one in there or I'll 'ave ya
22. very tentative for now, and I know you said you didnt want anything MIM but does this tickle your fancy at all? Its a classic series and I've just upgraded the bridge to a Gotoh. Let me know? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=classic+jazz
23.
Pretty much my experience of speaking with him..I'm always happy to listen to people who know what they're talking about.. However your experience also confirms my dislike of technology..mobile phones, computers..
...active basses, neo cabinets, high power amps. I think your dislike might be more for communication
24. I'm pretty sure Mark is a member here so hopefully we can hear what he has to say
