1. decided to ebayit :- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=006
2. KNOB update: have now managed to source the other Vol/Tone knob .. so the bass now has 2/3 (rather than 1/3) knobs, with the Vol & Tone being the correct ones (like the one previously used for the 6x switch .. which has now been replaced by an old, circular/domed + pointer knob. it's not the correct knob, but looks about right with the pointer hitting the 6 white dots). I'll try to add a photo tomorrow. BTW, the USA (ebay) listed SB1000 (1980) ended @ $1495 (£717).
3. SOLD (.. and removed from ebay)
4. Thanks C K .. it's now on ebay:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=006 ... as needs must. Ends Sunday.
5. .. addtional concern: does Carvin gear have a 120/240 switch (as with Acoustic Image, PJB etc.) and/or is it easy to convert internally..?.. Some seem to be nigh-on impossible and certain Co.'s are very poor in assisting/advising...
6. ebay listed :- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=006 .. ends Sunday evening.
7. Thanks G N ... the USA (ebay) one is still rising.. now up to $1425 (£717) !!.. so it's already outdone the other one and still has 2+ days to run. Mind, it does appear to be more-or-less 100% original and has what looks like the original case.
8. Wow!!.. look at this:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=002 .. that's $1075 (£540) with almost 3-days to run, 11-bidders !! Same series as mine and very close chronologically according to the serial. Might even out-bid the previous SB1000 from Germany (€884 / £675):- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=004 so, am putting mine back to the original asking price accordingly. I'll place on ebay this week. £499 (incl. DHL next-day)
9. Zon Sonus Lightwave five string fretless bass. I had thought about listing this previously and then decided against it .. but as another Zon 5LW (std.) was so recently ‘snapped-up’ ... ( http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=14456 ) ... I thought I should give it a try/see. This is an incredible bass and beautiful instrument which was handcrafted in the USA...and is apparently quite rare. Carries a retail price of $4k (!). It has an ash body with a gorgeous, high grade figured maple top. The bolt on composite neck is not affected by climate changes and will not warp. The 2 octave unlined finger board is phenowood. At an ultralight 7.7 pounds, it is perfectly balanced. The neck and playability are really excellent and the Lightwave system produces an amazing sound – particularly for Fretless - along with blending in the piezo. Specs/details: Ash body, Quilted maple top. Quilted maple headstock top. Composite neck Phenowood fretboard unlined. Ultra light ZON case included. Other features include a graphite nut, Gotoh tuners and the Lightwave optical pickup system. Scale and string spacing: 34.5” scale. 17 mm (bridge), 15mm (F24), 9mm (nut) The 4 knobs are : 1 volume 2 Lightwave/piezo blend 3 Bass boost [down is deep bass, pull-up is not-so-deep bass; referred to by Zon as the ‘warm/cool’ switch] 4 mid sweep/boost Set up is actually quite easy. The manual can be downloaded from the Lightwave site. The Lightwave system uses infrared light to sense string vibration and does not interfere with the string movement at all, unlike conventional magnetic pickups. The sound is completely transparent and what you hear is the natural sound of the strings, instrument and playing technique. The sound can range from mellow, upright bass (.. this definitely the closest I’ve experienced to an UB with a solid-bodied electric bass!…) to full on aggressive with the additional EQ. There is also the inclusion of a special piezo element that can add a crisp high end and percussive element to the optical sound. The Lightwave system < http://www.lightwave-systems.com/lightwave...tWavePickup.htm > runs for approximately 15 hours when fully charged. It comes with a charger wall wart that plugs into the bass. There is an LED light in the bridge that indicates battery strength. In addition, if the battery wears down while being used, you can continue playing by simply plugging the charger in. Of course you are limited by the length of the charger cable, which is actually fairly long. Definitely a different system than using 9 V batteries but it is actually quite seamless. The charger is of the USA type, so there’s a convertor (inline) included. Not too much hassle as you only need to charge occasional at home. I did try an ebay 18v (UK) unit but the mA output didn’t match. Apparently, Maplins do an 18v 100mA unit (£14) which will work, but I haven’t bothered. The bass is in overall excellent/near mint condition £.. SOLD .. (inclusive of 24h. DHL)
