1. Thanks S-C .. he seems to have a whole range of Vintage FX stuff from £300 - £1500 currently plus a vintage Gibson LP! Darlington's not far from me but hardly ever go there - I'll have a drive over some time and see it this is a shop. The Mutron Flanger was up for a while, but somebody did finally use the BIN @ £1k !!
2. I know the original Mutron Wah/Filter Pedals attract high prices (£400-500?) .. but is this so rare & valuable (and good?..) ?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...alenotsupported
3. Otto Filter + LiquaFlange by Line-6 (Tone Core series). Both as-new & virtually unused. Individually, they're £66 & £78 respectively (best prices I can find online currently). The base-unit can also be bought separately for £45. (all these prices are w/out postage). So... about £144 - 45 (as there's only a single base unit - the FX section can be slotted-in/removed, so the base can be used with either the Filter or the Flange). Comes with a single box (OttoFilter) and both sets of Instructions (lots of variations available on each effect, but I found it easy to Note the most useable settings for each). £80 ono = posted.
4. Withdrawn from sale (and ebay). Decided to keep this and re-think re. defretting the Xotic etc.
5. re-bayed, to end Sunday (26th) :- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160350341677
6. Hi Mick - thanks for the contact/offer, but not really the type of instrument/price I was considering. Possibly something cheaper and very easy to sell-on. I'm putting the Kinal onto ebay again tonight (5 days) whilst I consider my options with other plans.
7.
Hey David, I like the curly maple one. What attracted you to these instruments more than the others which have passed through your hands? Are they keepers?
Good Q. Steve - I suppose it's down to GAS in its purest form (... so nothing logical!). When I first became interested in more exotic, handmade instruments the original Xotics received excellent reviews and were well advertised, but I couldn't get hold of one - at about the same time as I bought an early Roscoe and Curbow IEP. Then they seemingly 'disappeared', although the preamps were still around. Like 'Tung' basses (... still looking for one of those!...) they never appeared on the second-hand market, so I guessed they must be as good as the Reviews suggested. Which they are. Only Marleaux (from my experience, to-date, build a standard 34" scale 5 with such a good 'B') 'Keepers' ?... what's that (?!?). Well, I suppose they as much 100% keepers as all the others we've (global-sense) had .. and I've had a few myself in the past. Ironically, it's possible that I'll sell one soon (probably the Bocote) unless I do decide to go-ahead with the de-fret. I'll have to get into the attic and see if I can find the Xotic Review(s) and original ad's - if anybody has examples, I'd be delighted to hear from them !
8. Having looked for one of these Xotic basses for ages, I'm now in possession of two Early & original (rare) model Xotic XB-2C 5-string bass(es) All original XB-series basses featured: 34"-scale, 24-fret, 3-pc. Maple/kingwood neck with brass nut; 1-3/4" at the nut - 3" at F24. String spacing is 9-16-18mm (bridge is infinitely adjustable); 2 Kent Armstrong soapbar pickups with custom Xotic active preamp; Controls: Master Volume, Blend, Master Tone, and 3-band EQ; Hipshot tuners and Kahler fully-adjustable bridge; Built-in Dunlop style strap-locks The XB-2C or "custom" came with an exotic wood top and back, and ebony fingerboard with extra-cool aluminium ring inlays (possibly inspired by Capt. Scarlet & The Mysterons?..) The bass(es) features a bocote top/back with natural (oil/wax) finish & quilt maple top/back with amber-black-burst finish Very wide range of available tones and a very powerful sound. The "B" string is very tight and focused. It's really the best fretted 5'er I've tried - both instruments have exceptional tones (slightly different / woods) and playability. The EQ is superb - hence (possibly) the popularity of the Xotic pedals. Other specs: Neck = 24F Maple/Ebony . Neck Finish = Satin. Fret = Jescar(#6150 type) . Neck Radius = 16R . Nut = Brass . Pickup = Kent Armstrong . EQ = Xotic Bass Preamp (18V) . Tuner = Hip Shot Ultra light . Bridge = Kahler Fixed 5-st /Black . Control = 1-Vol, 1- Master Tone, 1- Balancer (Pan), 3-band EQ + (Rear) 4-mid frequency Switch, Output Gain Control . [Switch] = Vol (push: series, pull: parallel for front pickup) Tone(push: series, pull: parallel for rear pickup). Strap Button = Jim Dunlop X 2 . MSRP (current): $4,200 plus shipping . Hand-made in Los Angeles, USA The new (and current) Xotic company reappeared some years after the original folded :- http://www.xotic.us/guitars/ (..although it looks like my amber/black 5C on the page link!!). The Xotic pedals (which I've seen here on BC) appear to have survived throughout: any info. on this and the Co. /basses would be greatly appreciated. The basses have changed little, apparently, with the new Co. Adding a few photos but might change them to bigger if I can work-out how to do so. I'm now undecided as to plans for the natural (Bocote) bass: had intended to de-fret, but after talking with Xotic and others it doesn't seem the best idea. So it might soon be available and I'll start another long wait for a fretless (original) example.
9. OK - giving this one last (?) try here on BC (and ebay). ... as I might change my options re. maintaining a fretted and FL5. see Porn: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=55136 I've edited the listing(s) as I have a local(ish) buyer interested at the price and also to reflect the ebay (re)listing. Drop me a PM if interested. Not really interested in trade(s) - unless you surpise me with something low-priced and easy to move-on.
10. Russ - you seem to have 2x feedback(s) ... not sure how you can combine them (?). Anyway, Russ took-the-plunge and recently bought my already much-missed Kinal MK-5 (fretted) bass. Great (sensible and polite and prompt) communication throughout and asked all the right questions. Would be happy to deal again and to recommend to all BC'ers. Hope to meet-up sometime .. maybe at the next Lancs. or Yorks BBash (??).
11.
I'd just like to point out, that I've bought the fretted version of the two Kinal basses David had to sell. I've had many different basses over the years and I can say hand on heart that my Kinal is maybe the best quality bass I've had my hands on, it's beautiful. The attention to detail is unreal, and the love and care that go into making these basses is obvious. Outstanding build quality, ergonomically perfect and a tone to die for. If I had the cash, I'd be jumping on this fretless too.
Thanks Russ! .. much appreciated, and just delighted that the Kinal is the type of bass you were looking-for. Be sure to buy a Lottery ticket this Friday & w/end .. it would be nice for the Kinals to be kept together !!
12. ... thought it a good idea to bump this (and other Kinal) to guage any further interest: I do have offer(s) pending but have been awaiting conclusion for quite a while....
13. PM'd (Monz) ... thought it a good idea to bump this (and other Kinal) to guage any further interest: I do have offer(s) pending but have been awaiting conclusion for quite a while....
14. Repeating BUMP BTP#1 until this goes (w/end) - offers coming and should be sold this w/end.
15. Thanks for the positive comments chaps! ... getting some further interest now, so hoping it'll sell soon.
16. Bumping back to Page#1 .. things are very busy here currently!
17. BTP1 .. after only 10 hours !
18. Had expected (needed) this to be sold by yesterday (Sunday evening) either here or on ebay. But it hasn't. Some continued interest (dependent upon other sales) but nothing yet confirmed: consequently, am offering inclusive of delivery (in UK) which is something of a bargain (?). First come, first served. No trades.
19. Bump / off-hold. + currently due to end this w/end on ebay.
20. Sorry Peter, it was sold some time ago, and is now in France (!). I'll update/edit the post (.. is there a way of deleting these dead posts??).
