1. Here is a video from pretty hectic friday night at a battle of the bands. We won! £100! Weyhey! And yes, the crowd are normally this wild.
2. I play in a ska band and my style of play isn't what i'd call that traditionally skaish. I play a lot of melodically bluesy lines as it's just my style and how i write things. Big bouncy fun catchy basslines. When i try and be skay i end up just using loads of 1st/3rd/5th arpeggios. What should i look at doing to give myself as ska-ish vibe as possible?
3. Cheers man, though I should add that I was banished from the booth for the 'woahing' due to my generally atonal nature.
4. Easier to break into Fort Knox then to get into the packaging on the cab I bought off Shaun. Top bloke and a pleasure to deal with!
5. Anyone?
6. Just put a word in for how good these basses are for the money. I've gigged one of these for over a year and only retired it two weeks ago when i bought a Fender P. Absolute workhorse, put a good set of strings on it and it sounds lovely. I'd recommend it as a good step onto the stingray ladder or a very solid reliable back up bass. Best of luck with the sale, at this price it's a steal.
7. We recorded our second E.P back in February and I realised that i hadn't shared it with the basschat community! www.myspace.com/coxonsriot My personal favourite is Africa. The tracks on the new E.P are Hungry, Africa, Bloody Murder and Run. The others are either demos or other early recordings. Feedback?
8. I've not removed it - i'll do that now and give it a go.
9. Well it's broken down again. Ashdown haven't replied yet so i'll call them tomorrow.
10. Just figured out 'Want you back' by the Jackson 5. I'm beyond proud of myself, so much so i would say i'm a 'smug little git'
11. I've always lusted after basses but i'm GAS free now i've acquired the perfect precision! I've never really felt the need to go for amps too. I had a 20 watt practice for when I learnt the trade at home in my room, then a 35 watt Orange Crush for early practice with my band, then a Laney 100 watt ancient job for when we started gigging and now i'm on my first 'proper gigging amp' - superfly 500/Peavey 4 ohm 2x10/ Unbrand homebuild 1x15. My evolution has been out of necessity in amplifiers rather then in want. The superfly (when working!) sounds killer into the 2x10 (waiting for the 1x15 to arrive to unlock it's real potential). I think GAS just for basses is as much an psychological thing as they are much more part of you and what it says about you as they are strapped to your chest on stage. GASin' for amps is more a perfectionist thing IMO.
12. I don't think it was blowing fuses. I think it was just having a mad 5 minutes. I've been playing it flat out for about an hour and a half and it's working fine now. I e-mailed ashdown so when they reply i'll take a course of action but it might have just been a funny 5 minutes.
13. Pissed, sweaty, skanking but still getting the audience going.
14. I've found i can really get that super warm round sound with the EQ set up right and the tone rolled right off. I'll stick with this for now but that SFT sounds GLORIOUS!
15. I think i've bought a steam engine as this thing has serious mood swings. It's working now and has been since my last post. The new Fender P sounds glorious through the Superfly and a 2x10! Why does it do this to me? I think the new lead might not have been pushed in properly when i first tried it. Fingers crossed this lasts...
16. It's under warranty. Bought a new lead and it doesn't work either.
17.
Buy yourself a proper IEC Power cable.... some of these cheap 'kettle' leads are not the same size as the pro units.... even if its 1/4 mm out it makes for a loose connection
http://www.dcdi.co.uk/Power-Distribution/I...t/p-91-112-435/ One of these?
18. Yes I have. I found another kettle lead that from the printer that worked fine on the printer but not on the amp. I put it back on the printer and it worked so it's not the fuse. I'm worried that when i changed the fuse it just temporarily worked again and was nothing to do with the fuse.
19. Just bought a Fender P off Tom. Super price, delivery and a real pleasure to deal with him. Top bloke!
20.
21. Which one?
22. I think it's blown again already. Any idea what fuse should be in there? They've both been 3A.
23. Well bugger me, turns out it was the fuse! What do you know hey! Thanks guys.
24. I doubt it's that as it was working about an hour ago, went to have dinner, came back and it's kaputz!
25. Just plugged my superfly rig in and it wont turn on. The kettle lead at the back has always been slightly loose but i can't get it to start! Anyone else had this problem? What do i do? I'm really worried...
