1. How does the Aguilar sound with your cabs. ? Not a fan of Green Day really but having youtubed them it sounds like they could be a loud band and you might want something that will compete with guitarist. There's a guy on here selling a Bergantino HT rig that would blow your socks off. I have the HT322 cab and nothing touches it for tone or quality in my opinion. He's seling the 2x10 and 115 cabs. Worth a look. Fantastic price too. If i didn't have my HT322 i'd be snatching his hand off for it. Dave
2. Not being a fan of these basses what's the issue with the positioning ? I always assumed bass tuners were heavier duty because of the string size but everydays a school day. Do the larger size tuners not help secure the strings and prevent string slip and de-tuning. ? Dave
3. This is the 18V version

I did manage to get it sorted for our guitarist. I've attached a copy of the external wiring diagram onto the circuit board if that helps. I took the circuit board into my repair tech in Glasgow who repaired the circuit board. The original fault was that the battery connection came loose from the board and touched the circuit board frying a circuit chip. The guitarist had removed the board himself and had managed to get the cable locations wrong for re-fitting. After the circuit board chip was replaced and board tested i rewired it back into the guitar for him. The electronic repair tech i use said it was a pretty simple standard amplifier board and he was able to folow the circuit quite easily. I'm assuming any local tech in your area could check and repair the board too If not i can send you the address and details of the guy i use and you could post the circuit board itself to him provided you are ok with soldering things. If i remember right i don't think i could find a circuit diagram of the circuit board itself but it might be worth google check. All the best Dave
5. look like guitar tuners to me ? Maybe not up to the job of bass strings ? I'm just guessing here. Dave
6. Nice looking P bass. GLWTS With regards the back ache issue what about steinberger style basses. Virtually no weight in them. I have a Yamaha BX1 version and its very lightweight. Not sure as i've never tried one but what about the carbon graphite type basses, are they much lighter than standard basses. Vigier being one i've looked at recently. Dave
7.
The slade and wizzard classics are a laugh to play and will get any crowd going (well possibly apart from one at a retirement home, but short of a wheelbarrow full of amphetamine it may be a struggle).
Yep love hearing those at Xmas.
8. Columbas Jazz bass bought from my Mothers mail order catalogue thru an old battered 2nd hand Selmer 50W combo. Ah those were the days
9.
I was trying to stand out so I used to wear a bright yellow suite. It worked and I've still got it upstairs. Don't know why, but it doesn't fit anymore! That was long before the 90's.
Its a well known fact that clothes shrink while stored for long periods in wardrobe's.
10.
The only way I know to make a drummer quiet.
brilliant
11. Think i would try and pick up a cheap fretless first to try rather than defret an already good bass. Dave
12. To be honest my Fender Jazz Geddy signature bass is the one i tend to use most and its always my goto bass in any new roject and from there i can judge whether or not it suits the band or another might fit better. Dave
13. Alembic would be nice Also have a hanckering for a WAL again. Recently have a notion for a Vigier Passion Guess this list could go on quite a bit so i'll leave it at that. Dave
14. If i watch it i usually watch it all the way thru to see if there is anything worthwhile and last weeks there was nothing that i particularly enjoyed. To be honest most times i watch it i find the same thing. Its extremely rare i find an act i really enjoy. I used to consider myself as having quite a varied taste in music but i guess its not as varied as i thought. Its not particulary the styles of music i don't enjoy but more down to the majority of the acts just don't entertain me at all. Dave
15. In chronological order as far as i can remember. Ones in red i still have. 16. Try your local council Graphic Design Dept. My wife used to work there and their prices were pretty impresseive i always thought. We even had a band banner made in vinyl for under £20 couple of years ago now. You also see adverts on Join My Band for that kind of thing but no idea what they charge. Dave
17. That's a bit of a stunner. That would be my choice of P bass if buying one. Enjoy. Dave
18. Had a MAG 300 15" combo with an added 2x122 deep a few yrs back but i found the tone uninspiring. It had no character. Tried a few in various studios and found same. Seemed well built and maybe it was just the fact i couldn't really get my head round the various tone sliders etc. Think i should maybe try the newer ABM EVO range as they are very popular and players i've heard using them seem to get a pretty nice tone. Have to admit i do like the look of Geezers amp. Any idea what they cost as couldn't find one anywhere ? Dave
19. first time i've watched it in ages and now i can remember why. Didn't enjoy any of it and some of the bands were shockingly poor. Not my taste in music at all I've heard better from Noel Gallagher too Dave
20.
The ones with pickups right at the bridge are the Passion models. The ones with more spaced pickups are the Arpege models. They both have their own advantages, my advice is to get one of each
Chance would be a fine thing. Don't think my wife would be too pleased.
21. Quite like the look of several Vigier basses. Would love to try one out. They look and sound fantastic. I especially like the one with the 2 bridge style pick ups in black. Dave
22. Gorgeous looking bass and must be fun with the GR system fitted. GLWTS. Dave
23. Think you might have linked to wrong basschat pics as it shows a Lakland blue bass ? Dave
24. Had a Flame Sycamore fretless lined WAL early 80's. Bought it new and it had a dead note on the Eb on G string. Contacte WAL and they weren't interested and complete disappointment for me. Sold it within a year. On hindsight the dead note may have been a simple fix but for a young enthusiastic bassist back then i had no great knowledge of basses and what can cause a dead spot. I've had similar issues with other basses since that were simple fixes like saddle not seated properly on my Overwater custom 6 fretless, changing strings or gauge of strings have resolved similar issues too. Even adjusting neck relief has resolved it for some reason. Sounds like i've had a lot of duff basses Other than the dead note i loved the tone and feel of the WAL bass and would love another. Dave
25. I've heard of the Strawbs but have to admit i've never listened to them. In my mind i had always thought they were more a pop style band for some weird reason. I'm a big Prog fan so will need to have a listen to those albums Karl. Thanks for the heads up on that one. Dave
