  1. Oh yes that is nice indeed. Dave
  2. 100% appreciated. I look forward to the new ones you post. Such a varied list on the website too. Its an amazing collection. Dave
  3. Liking that bass altho not sold on the scratch plate but i'm guessing it fits the music you play. Pretty good pics there too. Dave
  4. I'm addicted to TV even tho i'm not particularly watching it i still have it on. I keep promising myself to switch it off. As you say most of it is s*** anyways and maybe just read more. I have books i bought years ago that i've still not read yet. I used to only read on holiday and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm also into model railways so that takes up more of my time these days. Dave
  5. Superb stuff and wish you all the very best with this new project. Dave
  6. WOW Rob you seem to be working 24hrs a day on these. Take a break and go have a wee coffee. Dave
  7. Great venue apart from the 3 flights of stairs. I'm due back in the summer with Glam band and might just use their backline to save a bit of lifting. It does have an amazing musical history based on the various posters on the walls. Dave
  8. Love the band name. 👍 Dave
  9. WOW that is so good. Gotta have a go at that altho i only have my 6 string fretless these days so that might be a bit of a struggle. When i hear John playing i just want to get another 4 string fretless. Superb playing. Many thanks for this one Rob. Dave
  10. Recently bought Fish first solo album Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors and State of Mind with John Giblin on bass might be a nice wee line to learn. Dave
  11. That's a very colourful and eye-catching bass. Dave
  12. What bass rig were you using Johno. ? Dave
  13. Ooohh that looks so good, Its a lot deeper than i expected but those high runs sounding so clear and deep. Prefer that to a WAL bass. Not sure why i thought it would sound WAL - ish but i have to admit i'm preferring that. Nice sounding band Jonathon. Liking that a lot. That even sounds slightly fretless at the end. I've now got GAS for one you rotten sod I'm def jealous but its been well worth the work involved. Dave
  14. Yep no problem Rob. Dave
  15. Sound of Contact is Phil Collins son Simon on drums and lead vocals and he's good. Arjen Lucassen has his own project band called Ayreon but its not really my taste but Lost in New Real is a concept album with 50% his own songs and 50% as covers by Floyd, Hawkwind and various other bands with his own unique take on it. Rutger Hauer did the narration on the album but i won't tell you anymore. I really like the lyrics on some of his songs. Dave
  16. That's who he reminded off. Cheers for that Mickey. Dave
  17. If looking for ideas have you heard of these bands :- Starcastle - from back in the 80's. Kind of Yes type sound but more commercial. Sound of Contact - Dimensionaut is one of my fav Prog albums. Arjen Lucassen - From the Lost In The New Real album my fav track is A Hundred & Sixty Four but few others on this that could be interesting for you as a prog fan too. Not trying to give you work there Rob. Was only if looking for other avenues and ideas altho i'm sure you already have plenty. Dave
  18. No complaints here Rob.
  19. I know the feeling. I'm getting to that stage too. Have to admit it does change your image. I'm that used to seeing you with long hair and cowboy style hat or as Gene Simmons. I guess we all have to grow up at some point in our lives. Dave
  20. Looks like a couple of good venues there. I see you've bitten the bullet and had a haircut by looks of it. Very smart looking @cetera. You suit that look too. Dave
  21. Jings not listened to that in a long time Rob. How good were Rush back then. Dave
  22. That's a good description as i think i have noted that too with some D Class amps altho my Mesa seems to be ok. Our drummer reckons its more down to your ears getting used to the tone that you don't notice it so much until you take a break and come back to it. As a night develops i find myself wanting tweak things a bit even tho the sound check and start of the gig itself sounded great. Not sure if its maybe down to drummer playing harder during the gig and others tweak their volumes to match whereas i tend to set my volume and leave it if possible but sometimes i do have to turn up a bit and all of a sudden my tone returns to normal. Its all very weird. I played thru a Hartke stack with an LH500 and 2off 15" cabs and i was very impressive with it. Really nice clear tone with a touch of growl that i really liked. Dave
  23. Its nice when you come across a bit of kit that just does what its supposed to do with no fuss. 👍 Dave
  24. Had the Shure wireless for a couple of years now and had a SmoothHound before that for few yrs. Probably about 5-6 yrs Daryl. Wearing platform boots on stage is hard enough and tripping over leads on stage was an issue at the start of the Glam thing so decided to try wireless and love it. The Shure GLXD is an amazing bit of kit. Never had any issues with it at all. Having the built in tuner as a floor pedal makes it very handy. If the transmitter ever fails at a gig you just plug a lead into the receiver and its just like any other foot pedal which is a good back up. Its probably the one bit of kit i would most recommend these days. Very impressed with Shure quality. Dave
  25. First gig since 2nd Jan with the Glam band at a fantastic venue Dalkeith Miners Club. No pics as yet but here's the stage pic from last time we played here. Sound guy was saying ticket sales in general have been low and some are just paying on the night. He said 100 tickets sold plus they expect 30-50 paying at door. Looked a bit empty when i went in to get changed for the set but it got busier after the first few songs and was a decent crowd for the 2nd set. Dancers on most of the songs tonight which was good. Audience reaction was good and a few T shirts sold too. Club aren't advertising the gigs so thats not helping fill the place. They put an advert up on their FB page an hour before the doors opened and that was the first advert since start of January for our gig tonight. All in all it turned out a good wee night altho the guy that paid us said the treasurer didn't want to pay the full amount because it wasn't full. The other committee guys over-ruled him. Not our fault they didn't advertise the gig at all. What do they expect. Shame as its a cracking big club that can hold 500-600 at a push. Typically we get 200-300 at our shows but tonight i reckon 150. This was the decider for me whether i would stay with the band a bit longer and i have to admit i had a great time and i think i will miss it so i'm now really struggling to make up my mind. Band have said if i have doubts about leaving to just take my time and have a decent think about it. Anyways my gear tonight was my usual Sandberg VM4 into Shure Wireless, Keeley Comp, Mesa TT800 Boogie channel, Mesa 210/115 cabs with my fav bass Fender Geddy Jazz as a back up. Was gonna use it but i changed the strings to Elixirs yesterday and i found the neck had bowed a little so i need to straighten that out. Meant the string height in middle of the neck felt high even tho it wasn't a lot. Maybe it was just in my head. LOL Outfit first set was a nice sparkly purple jacket with matching satin trousers and platform boots. 2nd set was a matching light blue and silver jacket and trousers with my trusty platform boots. Dave
